The only cringe-inducing lip-sync performance I've seen JB do was the '82 NAACP Image Awards. It was so obvious that they were playing the '60s hit version of "...Man's World." Oh, well...budget constraints -- especially in the early '80s.
I admit, I would probably question JB's commitment to the art of lip-syncing, and if it were anyone else I might get snippy about it. But, when you're workin' in such dynamite threads, when you're shimmying and boogalooing everywhichaway, when your processed doo is tossing and turning, and you have a gaggle of pretty sisters screeching and clawing after 'ya, heck, who cares about the lip-sync! This is the Godfather, Jack!
I don't really care whether he lip-synched or not. He was such a joy to watch perform, which is what this audience was obviously thrilled by. I love this early footage; perceived to be 'good' or 'bad', it's part of music history. So thanks for the post1
Oh Lord, here we go again with one of his horrible lip sync performances. These are really quite funny because he dances the whole time and doesn't even try to lip sync! Never been a fan of these performances.

James is great; don't forget the band. Listen to that music. Nothing like it nowadays.
