I raise organic free range chickens on Martha's Vineyard. We do things a lot different here. Our birds are out in the field in cx tractors that are moved twice a day to ensure fresh grass and clean living. They are given ample space and are much healthier than conventional chicken. Personally I find it disgusting and inhumane the practices shown here.
I wish I was brave enough to do what your doing, it's great. I hate when people attack other people who keep chickens for meat, and then go off and get a chicken burger in Mc Donalds :(
ok, so here's how far it's gone: People have no respect for animals we raise, and even no repect for them afterwards- these kids in America have proved this... search:
I hope everyone that sees this thinks twice about what they eat...from the chicken dish you order from chinese and indien takeway to the chicken sandwich you eat at school or work. I know first hand that the price difference is not much between well reared to ones like these, money is not an excuse. These animals should not suffer for people who can afford a pack of cigarettes every day but can't afford an RSPCA approved chicken for £4 - that would feed 4 people!
That is an abomination to God's creatures. Thank God my chickens aren't in a horrid environment like that. The owner of that property should get a life sentence in a battery cage.
Trust me it does exist... probably half of those chickens in there were people who abused or tortured people in their last life and now they're learning what it feels like. regardless it is still wrong and the people responsible for their pain will go into a karmic hell realm or comeback to have the same punishment, hence the karmic wheel of suffering would continue. People can't figure out why animals suffer in the first place, it is all spiritual retribution for past life offences. c-ya

No real problem, besides minor overcrowding. Hens naturally lose a lot of feathers, it called malting, look it up.

@drahm33 There is a difference between moulting hens, and extreme feather loss. Look it up.

I am not going vegetarian, but I will never support these greedy chicken farms either.

But you do when you eat meat.

lol does it matter. The chicken gets killed anyway. I think that the chicken doesn't like getting killed either way.

Not only are they caged 24/7 until they are taken to the slaughter, the cages are disgusting!

It will be very interesting to see just how (in)competent the local RSPCA and the DPP are in getting a conviction and what sort of fine they receive.

I hope that reincarnation does exist, and all that made them suffer so much, will reborn as chickens that can't even walk like a normal bird.
