  • @FINbball ILLADELPH HALFLIFE, AND THINGS FALL APART, U CAN ALSO LOOK FOR THIS GREAT COMPILATION- BEST OF THE ROOTS BY J PERIOD

  • @FINbball Iladelph Halflife is probably the most consistent album they have, there are a few on there I don't like out of preference more than anything, but generally the whole album's as good as it gets and a few of the songs grow on you over time.

  • ITS HARD TO ACTUALLY BELIEVE THAT RAP MUSIC USED TO BE THIS DAMN GOOD.

    Wow.

  • amen brother. am from philly and remember seeing them play live right in a downtown philly record store.

  • i know bro im 16 now and i know that the shit that is on the radio today is crap this is hip hop

    RAP - LIES = HIPHOP

  • @dvharris75 It is but you just gotta dig for a while

  • @dvharris75 There is still good rap music but you just have to look harder now-a-days with all of the ring tone rappers taking over the radio, mtv, and itunes

  • @dvharris75 roots are still this good. dont worry man, go underground and you will find the best rappers around. Fuck mainstream hip hop

  • @ukrainiaNManiak The Roots were not so underground when this album was released, however, they own because their tracks are musically brilliant especially this album, Organix and illadelph half life .

  • @dvharris75 Preach brutha!

  • MACKDOE TKP EYES ERAW NAPPAY K-FU BRIZ GIZ CHIPX BIG BEN NOOK

KELO KWE ID NDNSKE CHUCH MILLION BAZZ LAW1 KGB1 NORTH PHILLY

    100X RIP PE U REEL

  • @dvharris75 Believe it man! It's only gettin' worse! Big ups for puttin' this up!

  • @dvharris75 it still is you only have to listen to underground like Immortal Technique, dead prez

  • @dvharris75 The Roots are still amazing.

  • @dvharris75

lol yeah i agree. its sad where its at now.

  • @dvharris75 this is a weak album overall. Illadelphi Half LIfe and Things Fall Apart are much stronger. After that well who knows, they have a fucking tuba player now.

  • @dvharris75 you're right, it was rap MUSIC

  • @dvharris75 Used to be? It's still here. You're watching and listening to it.

  • Black thought went in on his verse, their albums are masterpieces

  • I dont think that the roots could ever pull this classic act again .. or could they??!!!!!?!?!

  • wouldn't be the same without malik b

  • INDEED jrwilsonUA, I agree 100 with you! They fucked up loosing Malik B! He was, and still is that SECRET INGREDIENT that will always bring the balance to the roots!

  • You have to remember Malik B left on his own. He was battling Demons listen to their song Water.

  • @ThaFlyestMoor72 - OK, now people are saying mixed things about that, because some say that Malik B was booted from the cipher - due to dealing with that demond? Can you varify this?

  • "We walked dog's that was off the chain, a lot times we did shows people hardly came, I just took it in strive as part of the game, but inside people down with me started to change, it wlil syrup a lil pills, instead riding on the road you'll rather chill, I know the way the pleasure feel I'm not judging but still I'm on a mission I'm not bugging I got fam that can't stop druggin they can't sleep can't stick to one subject they can't eat it's ppl steady coming to out on the street like riq

  • @ThaFlyestMoor72 nice man, love water :D even the instrumental bit on the end is sick

  • listen to water in the song he says:" it's a couple thangs lil syrup lil pill in stead of riding out on the road you'll rather chill,I know how the pleasure feel i'm not judging, but still I'm on a mission yo I'm not buggin' I got fam that can't stop druggin' they can't sleep, can't stick to 1 subject they can't eat, it's people steady coming @ me out on the street like riq what's up wit ya peeps it get's deep" that to me sounds like he chose to leave that's just me brah I could be wrong.

  • right - right INDEED, I feel your view on that joint! Though it could go either way, I see exactly why you feel the way you feel on that interpretation Brotha! Man, I just wish HIP HOP can come back, period! I mean DJ Premier + Guru = no more! Pete Rock + CL = no more! Hit Squad = no more! WTF IS GOING ON WITH OUR CULTURE!!!!

  • You are absolutely right. You know I think when we gave Hip-Hop and age limit it killed it. You know you can't put an age on Art it's timeless. We allowed people outside of the movement lable it Gangster, Hip-Hop, West Coast, East Coast, South, Old School New School etc. I mean we as fans gotta preserve the Art. Support Artist request songs request artist to come down etc. I also think more of the new cats need to feature more legends you dig. just a thought.

  • at one point malik b was doper than black thought

  • IDK they were mad hungry then, plus their roster changed alot, we shall see.......................

  • Black thought is in my top ten fave emcee's need i say more

  • I don't kind what people say. The ROOTS is true Hip Hop at its best. Bettet than even Jay Z. Who is nice but he more about the money than the form of our dispora!! Now you people who don't know what real music is comments your Cotten Pickin Minds!

  • LOVED that's right Loved this beat and the break down on the chorus

  • true hiphop!
