The Cube's design will forever be a talking point, but what this car screams is functionality and/or technophile IMO. Sure, you may need a certain personality to buy one (of which I may be compatible with), but if it isn't the quirkiness you're after it is the price point for what you get: a reliable vehicle, low price, and SPACE in a compact design. Why waste money on a sub-compact economy car when you can spend the same money and get this much space and still achieve 30mpg? Cube offers it.
The Cube is a piece of shit. Has absolutely no pick up, slowest car ever. The 6 speed sucks for driving in traffic. The design is awful. Rocks and chipped paint like crazy in a matter of minutes due to profile. It is comfortable to ride in, handles well in weather minus the excessive wind (pushed one hard in pouring rain with massive puddles). The back door never stays open. Gas mileage sucks. All in all, it's junk, but a sturdy built vehicle.

4X4 Trucks are only practible if you live in the country where the road are more bad because in the City they release a lot of air pollution as they guzzle a lot of gas.
Maybe those who are buying smaller economy cars rather than extremely large trucks are attempting to save on fuel/operating costs, and put out less Co2 at the same time. Also, insulting the customer base of a vehicle only makes you look like an inconsiderate asshole. Have a nice day! ^_^

I think a Ferrari Italia would fit my personality perfectly, but unfortunately, I can't even afford the down payment on one. Most people buy what they can afford, and MOST people just look for something that is reliable, fuel-efficient, and practical...everything the Cube is. It's difficult to make a BOX look good. Nissan and Scion have done a pretty good job of doing just that.

It seems like the ultimately practical urban vehicle. The reason why it is popular in Japan is because the cities there are very dense, there simply isn't room for big vehicles. But the Cube makes the most of a small space. Footprint of the Cube is smaller than many subcompact cars. It simply works and is very roomy inside.

I drive the hell outta mine through commuter traffic. Had it for a year....I do think its funny how I've never been passed by another Cube, I'm allways the faster "fridge". I guess most poeple who have them are generally too timid. Fine with me - the law doesn't pay me any attention in this box.

I'm over 6'4, and based on that factor alone, i LOVE my Cube. Sitting in any of the seats i still have a good 4 inches of head room to spare, where as when i drove the Soul i had to slouch so my head wasn't brushing against the roof. With the seat back and all the head room in my Cube it for sure give the feel of driving a big roomy SUV style vehicle, except your getting over 28mpg city. The builtin Rockford Fosgate subwoofer and bluetooth phone interface doesn't hurt anything either.
Oh my god...I love these cars so much! We have a red cube, and it's so roomy on the inside even tho it's pretty small on the outside...IT'S CHIBI!!!! XD
...the U.S. model has rollover from previous years; the 1.8L engine is lifted from the Versa and is loosely based on the 1.8L that powered the Sentra all those years. Which begs the question- The Sentra eventually got the 2.5L from the Altima, will it fit this? It could be called a Jack of many trades and master of none. Unlike Toyota, Nissan don't yet plan on making near as many outfitting options, which hinders it. It's more radical than beautiful, and that's really all it is, unfortunately.
This is another car that says, " don't care enough about my driving to buy a driver's car, and I also don't care enough about my driving to drive well. Please pass me with your Volvo." I get the reason they did the rear window arrangement, one strong pillar on the same side as the steering wheel, and the passenger side has no blind spot. Still a committee designed car, though...
@dergangedchipmunk Take a chance to re-read my post. I wasn't bitching Volvo, I was complimenting it. The post is describing how the Cube is an unusual car that doesn't really know what it is. Yes most current Volvo's can squeeze 0-60 out between 6 and 7 seconds, depending on which one you buy and what grade of fuel you fill it with, but to use this as a support rag for Volvo is beyond the point. I hope this helps clear up the confusion.
Cube has originality inside and out unlike the same old, same old Scion and Soul. I found it to be a peppy, fast cruiser and very comfortable that offered some high end items like automatic dual climate control and proximity decetor lock and push button start. The interior is sexy and the whole veh is new and innovative.
I bought this car. Its a pretty amazing vehicle. I have the 6 speed. It gets fantastic gas mileage and the interior space is above average. Super fun car to drive. I love this car!
During the mid 90's there were many reports the of the Big-3 buying control percentages of their Japanese competitors. I really can't see Japan doing anything like this out of their own initiative considering the exotic designs they were so famous for in the 80's and early 90's.
I have one. It's adorable. But you didn't note it's oddest fun toy-like feature of mood lighting. Over twenty colors to choose from - hot pink to gold to blue.
It was the Cash for Clunkers thing. I had a GMC Safari before, 10 years old. That thing drank fuel like crazy - twice I filled up for over $100. Trading it in, it's unlikely I would have gotten more than 2-3k for it, so this was a GREAT deal for me, and left me with a new shiney car, which I probably wouldn't have sprung for without that program. :D
Oh ok thanks. I googled it right after I made the comment. It seems like a good program. I cant take part in it because my trade-in car was made after 2001. I'm still undecided; the Cube is nice but I might go with the Kia Soul.

I totally agree about where Nissan is headed. I mean, I love the new Z and the Altima...and I own a Versa (the hatch-back is the only one to have). But other than that, the new Sentra for instance...yuk. I have a '92 SE-R, and a '04 Sentra 1.8s...but man, the new one just sucks.
But I do have to say that I disagree about the Cube. Your opinion is your opinion, and that's cool...not knocking it. Just saying, I like the car. I think it's moddern, and querky.
Agree 100% this car should get a BFH. I saw one today and thought of Sponge Bob before I even realized what it was. I stood for like 5min looking it over, and this thing is theee uglyiest car I've ever seen. Seems like they(Nissan) are going for the aqua theme, but this car failed. Hope this is not the future of Nissan styling.

We bought two--they are boxy looking, but doesn't feel that way inside. We love them--so fun to drive. The sound system in the Krom and SL are nice too!
I love this car. It's like a car version of scooter(seem do well in everyday hop-n-go). I know most of review complains the weak engine(other than looks)... but with this price... come on, man. First of all, why do you have to go fast in stop-n-go traffic in metro area? I own Impala SS, T-bird SC, and Dodge Ram, but I believe this new look from Japan will be the new generation of cool metro cars. FYI, Cube and xB have been sold in Japan for a decade, i.e, all the nicks are already taken care of.

Oh my god...I love these cars so much! We have a red cube, and it's so roomy on the inside even tho it's pretty small on the outside...IT'S CHIBI!!!! XD

...the U.S. model has rollover from previous years; the 1.8L engine is lifted from the Versa and is loosely based on the 1.8L that powered the Sentra all those years. Which begs the question- The Sentra eventually got the 2.5L from the Altima, will it fit this? It could be called a Jack of many trades and master of none. Unlike Toyota, Nissan don't yet plan on making near as many outfitting options, which hinders it. It's more radical than beautiful, and that's really all it is, unfortunately.

This is another car that says, " don't care enough about my driving to buy a driver's car, and I also don't care enough about my driving to drive well. Please pass me with your Volvo." I get the reason they did the rear window arrangement, one strong pillar on the same side as the steering wheel, and the passenger side has no blind spot. Still a committee designed car, though...

@dergangedchipmunk Take a chance to re-read my post. I wasn't bitching Volvo, I was complimenting it. The post is describing how the Cube is an unusual car that doesn't really know what it is. Yes most current Volvo's can squeeze 0-60 out between 6 and 7 seconds, depending on which one you buy and what grade of fuel you fill it with, but to use this as a support rag for Volvo is beyond the point. I hope this helps clear up the confusion.

I totally disagree with this report.
Cube has originality inside and out unlike the same old, same old Scion and Soul. I found it to be a peppy, fast cruiser and very comfortable that offered some high end items like automatic dual climate control and proximity decetor lock and push button start. The interior is sexy and the whole veh is new and innovative.

I bought this car. Its a pretty amazing vehicle. I have the 6 speed. It gets fantastic gas mileage and the interior space is above average. Super fun car to drive. I love this car!

During the mid 90's there were many reports the of the Big-3 buying control percentages of their Japanese competitors. I really can't see Japan doing anything like this out of their own initiative considering the exotic designs they were so famous for in the 80's and early 90's.

It was the Cash for Clunkers thing. I had a GMC Safari before, 10 years old. That thing drank fuel like crazy - twice I filled up for over $100. Trading it in, it's unlikely I would have gotten more than 2-3k for it, so this was a GREAT deal for me, and left me with a new shiney car, which I probably wouldn't have sprung for without that program. :D

lol i said i didn't like this car at all because of the design and someone commented that it's because i can't afford it and because i'm racist? haha.. i can't afford ANY car but that doesn't mean i dont have opinions about how things look. and how am i racist? i simply said i don't like where nissan is headed with their design i never said i hate japanese cars. i don't know how some people can get so emotional over a brand. some cars deserve to be knocked down and i have every right to voice it

I totally agree about where Nissan is headed. I mean, I love the new Z and the Altima...and I own a Versa (the hatch-back is the only one to have). But other than that, the new Sentra for instance...yuk. I have a '92 SE-R, and a '04 Sentra 1.8s...but man, the new one just sucks.
But I do have to say that I disagree about the Cube. Your opinion is your opinion, and that's cool...not knocking it. Just saying, I like the car. I think it's moddern, and querky.

Agree 100% this car should get a BFH. I saw one today and thought of Sponge Bob before I even realized what it was. I stood for like 5min looking it over, and this thing is theee uglyiest car I've ever seen. Seems like they(Nissan) are going for the aqua theme, but this car failed. Hope this is not the future of Nissan styling.

I love this car. It's like a car version of scooter(seem do well in everyday hop-n-go). I know most of review complains the weak engine(other than looks)... but with this price... come on, man. First of all, why do you have to go fast in stop-n-go traffic in metro area? I own Impala SS, T-bird SC, and Dodge Ram, but I believe this new look from Japan will be the new generation of cool metro cars. FYI, Cube and xB have been sold in Japan for a decade, i.e, all the nicks are already taken care of.
