they are prince charles favorite singers they were st the buckingham palace twice upon his request when he was a bachelor and played at the reception when he married princess diana
One of the most memorable songs of my youth. I was dawning on my puberty and fell helplessly in love with FM. It was a Wonder Years kinda love. Never felt that kind of innocence of love again. Great song, great memories.
Avenbens, nice to correspond to a relation of Fayette Pinkney's. I think she was the sweetest and prettiest of the group. A very high quality soprano. The Three Degrees are not the same without her but they are still my favorite female group. Class and talent at the top of the world!! My heart was broken in a million pieces when she left us and the world. I still tear-up when I think of her and I miss her voice and playful personality. I listen to her songs from her solo album often.
THIS IS THE MUSIC THE WORD CLASSIC WAS MADE FOR . FROM A LOVELY HAPPY, CAREFREE , SIMPLE , WARMER TIME IN LIFE - THE 70S . TODAYS SO CALLED STARS WILL NEVER HAVE THIS LASTING APPEAL . LISTENING TO THIS SUPER SONG OPENS THE DIARY OF MY LIFE AND BRINGS ALL MY OLD MEMORIES TO LIFE AGAIN
This past Sunday in Chicago, WLS 94.7 played Casey Kasem American Top 40 for the 1970s. This past Sunday's broadcast was from the week ending Dec 14th 1974.
When Will I See You Again -The Three Degrees was at #2 where Kung Fu Fighting -Carl Douglas was in its 2nd week at #1. I cried a little bit as I know this lovely song by The Three Degrees did not make #1 Pop as it spent 1 week @ #2. Cat's In The Cradle (Harry Chapin) was #1 the following week. But this song did hit #1 AC & in Britain
When I hear it, I'm taken back to a time of innocence - 9th grade, undersized but finally catching up, watching people come & go thru my life, but not having a clue how to communicate w/ them that I really cared & didn't want to lose them. Never knowing when it would be the last time I saw somebody & being too scared to learn from my mistakes.
Sometimes I wish I knew then what I know now. But if I did I might have been dangerous. Maybe that's why life doesn't work that way.
LOL! You're not far off. In High School, I counted "Keep it coming love" & "Don't stop it now" something like 33 & 50 times respectfully. Disco had some great music (that lived on even beyond the "Disco Sucks" campaign, but often it definitely was not about the lyrics. ;-)
this song came out when i hired on to Exxon in houston in their computer department. i was the first woman ever to be hired in that department! what a trip it was. thanks for posting this great classic!!!!
I was 4 when this song came out and still love almost 40 years later. I never tire of listenting to it on the radio. Definitely has stood the test of time, and that it is because its an awesome song. Great melody..great production and great vocals. My wish is that music will sound this good one day soon, in this vastwasteland of nothing.
@freewaychooch So sorry....I am sure she is looking down smilling at you. God bless you and her..you will always have this great song - one of my wife and I favorite songs also! Peace...
Sorry to hear about your loss. It's a powerful enough song without having it be a reminder of someone special. I can't imagine what you feel when you hear it.
@freewaychooch Sorry for your loss...this was and still is a beautiful song....I'm a rock and roll and 80s music fan but the songs like this from the 70s have always held a special place inside of me...great music...something different to make me stop and think about life and how special it is to share with that special lady!!
@freewaychooch You and your wife will be holding each other and dancing again... with this jam bumpin through "cloud surround sound" speakers in heaven!
@freewaychooch I'm sorry to hear this but never think she's forgotten about you ! You Can Always See her In the SKY! She's The BRIGHTEST STAR IN THE SKY NIGHT LOOKING DOWN ON YOU =)
@freewaychooch - So sorry to hear that :) i hope for you she's gone to a better place, this is also one of my fav songs also - ok im only 26 but i remember mum playing this all the time back in the late 80's as a youngster, it reminds me of my mum also.
This brings back such good memories for me....it just transports me to a happier time in my life. My biggest concern was that i had to go do my homework. I can remember my mom standing at the stove cooking dinner and telling me to make sure i got it done before dinner was served. This song brings back that memory and a bunch of others. Times were so simple then and people were alot less stressed out. When i find a time machine i am going back to this era and i will just stay there for eternity.
@DaOrigTruthSeeker I grew up on this music because of my Mum, i can see where your coming from in terms of those memories. Aaah, you dont even know when your there do you!
Fayette Pinkney, Sheila Ferguson, and Valerie Holiday....the Classic Three Degrees! Lovely ladies, lovely sound. They sing the Supremes right under the table!
It's just not the music that's went for shits folks, but the general moral and ethic fiber of society folks..and the cars now days suck too! and everything is to costly as well in this throw away society us over 40 see it all the time! Hold a door open for a woman nowdays, alot of them look at you like your nuts! Good manners are never a waste of time.
@avanbens...Your cousin was part of the best lineup the trio ever had...no disrespect to Helen or Cynthia but the trio in this video are the best ever....your cousin was beautiful, talented and sexy...i also have a thing for Valerie, 44 yr old white male here, lol
always loved this song.....really sticks in your mind long after its over !....these girls were so damn talented and fine looking.....im a 44 yr oldmale to,lol
When I first heard this song I thought it was sung by a white female because of the voice's sounds since black people tend to have a stronger tone of voice than whites.
the same thing also happens when I heard "Do you know the way to San Jose" by Dionne Warwick and "Never fall in love again".
The first time I heard this song was in the Mexican desert near Guadalajara. In the 70's radio in Mexico was strange intros to songs in Espanol and songs in english...
This song reminds me of my Beloved aunt who died in 1974. when I heard this song I related it to her...ahh the innocent mind of a 9-yr old, I think you can make the connection.. Love you Aunt Bernice R.I.P!!!!!!!!!
My cousin Fayette was one of the original members of the group. Sadly she passed a year ago. Rest in peace we will always remember what a wonderful person you were and how proud we all felt when this song was made became a hit.
@avanbens It's so nice to correspond with a relative of Fayette's. She was the prettiest and had the most angelic soprano voice I have every heard. The Three Degrees were never the same after she left although they are still my favorite female group. When she passed the World lost a wonderful treasure...I cried gallons of tears. I want you to know how special she was to me even though I never met her or have ever seen her. Our Grand Creator will surely keep her in His memory forever.
I was such a foolish little boy with a huge crush on a girl and when I heard this song I would literary tear up cause I couldn't see this girl any more I felt my whole world was crashing down around me .. brings back silly memories
I had just gotten stationed at NAS Whiting Field in Milton, FL in Dec 1973 (18 at the time). This song brings back so many memories of a girl I saw at Pensacola Junior College. What a hot, hot babe.
This song brings back great memories of my youth when I was stationed in Groton, Connecticut back in the 70s. What a great time to be alive during the rock and roll years of 69 to 70s.

I first heard this 1970 something. A girl I had a crush on danced around in a purple velvet bikini and I did nothing but watch. Man I was so naive, but I will always remember the song that day and those kisses from that girl. SSSSweet!
