They did it really well, but if you read the manga, Megumi and Yahiro actually meet way beforehand, and this whole dating thing only occurs much later. And to be fair, it's not a real date, according to the Manga, they become close but they don't go out. Yahiro allows her to be in his inner circle which includes Kei and Akira.

No, actually, the anime does a very poor job explaining everything considering there was only one season ever done. Ryuii does meet someone but she's only mentioned in the manga. You do see her shadow in the background briefly in the last episode.

OMG! Ryuu and Jun's reaction when Megumi told them she was going out with Yahiro was totally epic! I almost fell out of my chair laughing XD I guess they didn't know which to be more shocked about... the fact that Megumi is talking or that she's going out with Yahiro :) ♥ My favourite episode ever.
