  • Which application should i use if i want to create animation similar to this?

  • learn english

  • I agree great video...Doctors without Borders is promoting a letter-writing campaign to ask Johnson & Johnson to join the Patent Pool "party" or effort...this video explains the problem very clearly...many of us don't understand what the problem is.

  • surely this wouldn't make business sense for drug companies trying to make money from their patents if they're only going to get competition for their own products? Maybe if they didn't want to develop a drug they could use this scheme instead of selling the patent on to a single company but the income from any royalties would be reduced by the fact that the competition this scheme would produce would lead to lower profits and less to be passed back to the patent holder. Nice idea though.

  • @sweatykev01 I think the main reason why pharmaceutical companies are interested in joining the patent pool is due to the pressures of society. They want to look good or people won't buy their products. This is wuite a good incentive for them to join the pool and it has worked as companies such as GSK are already in negotiations with the patent pool

  • By your pronountiation i assume you're from Africa, you should know that the problem of Africa is just NUTRITION, not AIDS, you should ask for proper food and for clean water, not for drugs or medicines. It hasn't been proved this drugs works and it is scientifically well known their toxicity, that can kill quickly someone who hasn't a good nutrition. So why? Thabo Mbeki was right. That's the reason why he falled down... Turn on your brain please.

  • @LordNetzwerk Nutrition does not cause, treat, or prevent HIV. Turn on your brain, for the sake of everybody.

  • @BendyStraw89 I am sorry to enlight your mind that in western countries actually is well known that Hiv is not the cause of AIDS... and HIV/AIDS campaing remains to traditional affectionate to retro concepts, people. My brain is on, but i can't reply the same to you, 'cause i assume if you would have a brain you would directly understand what i mean without mentioning HIV. lol

  • @LordNetzwerk Those toxic medications saved the life of my HIV-positive child. She would have died without those drugs, and is now a healthy 12 year old girl. Thabo was wrong. He caused the death of many people during his reign and contributed to the infection of scores of people through his policies that did nothing for prevention. I wont start about Zuma. In history AIDS denialists will be viewed together with the WWII Germans that said about the holocaust "Wir haben es nicht gewusst".

  • @stolkblondiau Watch this video on youtube "Lindsey Nagel : Science And Aids - Knowledge and Dogma"

  • Completely agree!! I feel lucky to be European. I wish the pharmaceutical company's would review their prices and allow access by poorer people.

  • Completely agree!! I feel lucky to be European. I wish the pharmaceutical company's would review their prices and allow access by poorer people.

  • Unless this pool is going to give the drug companies as much profit as the current arrangement there is no way they would agree to it.

  • @jrwkc Condoms only work in cases of consensual sex. In many parts of the world, it is believed that a man can be cured of HIV/AIDS by raping a virgin. Doesn't protect the girl, now does it? Or the baby that will probably contract the virus since it's doubtful she will be able to afford the drugs that would lower the risk of transmission. Education and protection are always important, but they only solve a small part of the problem. Somehow I don't feel bad for big pharma when people are dying.

  • This is a wonderful way to understand how a patent pool can operate. Now let's all fight to make it a reality!!

  • Does any one know wich program that is used to make this animation?

  • One in six Americans between the ages of 14 and 49 have genital herpes and close to 1 in 2 black women are infected, new figures from the CDC( STDloves C o M HIV dating site) reveal.

  • AZT was added to California's list of known carcingens as of Dec 2009

Also...the SCIENCE says the meds do NOT improve health or liespan. Google...

20 Unanswerable Questions for Aids Inc

    20. Why have improvements in "virological responses" ("viral load" and CD4 counts) to HAART....NOT.... translated into decreased clinical progression to AIDS and death (31)?

  • 31. May, MT et al, 2006. "HIV treatment response and prognosis in Europe and North America in the first decade of highly active antiretroviral therapy: a collaborative analysis", Lancet. 2006 Aug 5;368(9534):427-8, INTERPRETATION: Virological response after starting HAART improved over calendar years, but such improvement has...NOT.... translated into a decrease in mortality.

direct links to the study are included int he article

  • before somebody says...azt isn't used anymore...yes it is. They just remarketed it as zidovudine so people would keep buying it.

  • im so scared right.

  • Yeah that sounds like a great idea! Lets put silver matter in our blood stream, which is not even a requirement of you body system and doesn't even flush out of our body!

  • WOOHOOOO

  • So wait, do the royalties indicate a cut in profits to the pharmaceutical companies? If so, I'm afraid this video takes a very wishful look at the market, however convincing it seems.

  • Fantastic Idea!! Lets all show the pharmaceutical companies that we (the people) want NO NEED this to become a reality!

  • No misunderstandings. You need a patent pool because the manufacturer CANNOT do the same things direct. They can't develop the new drugs without the cooperation the patent pool allows. We can't get the prices down without the competition the pool generates.

It rewards innovation and spreads the power to produce life savin- drugs amongst many. It reduces bureaucracy by having all the patents in one place, rather than lengthy individual negotiations.

...watch it again IdleGod, but concentrate.

  • This video glistens with misunderstanding of patents. Why do you need a patent pool when you can just do the exact same thing direct from the manufacturer? It sounds like someone wants more control and are not willing to pay out the inventors of the drugs. Without the inventors making money, there is no reason to make more drugs. Sure, they are overpriced, but thats where better regulation comes in. Patent pools just adds another level of obfuscation to the problem, it doesn't solve it.

  • IdleGod, I agree with you. Patents are not there to make things hard for anyone, it works as an incentive. What the patent pool does is it works like a music licensing ageny for all the artistes - only the smallest ones benefit from it. And what is fair pricing anyway?

Clapittyclapclap, you are horribly mistaken when you say it rewards innovation. In what way does it do that? Lower the amount of remuneration generated? Do not forget that pharmaceutical companies are not charity organisations!

  • You could also Google The Bob Beck Protocol Videos

  • Indeed

  • What program is used to make this animation?

  • Sorry firpeace/Antidog - nowt naive about this idea.

75% of people on HIV treatment are using generic drugs made in the developing world - nothing shady about them.

Generic competition's been the most important factor behind lower prices - essential new drugs are still only available at the big prices big pharma charge - we need the pool to create that competition for new drugs.

It'll promote innovation in a way that the current system never will.

It's supported many including the UK govt.

  • Sounds a little naive to me as well. I have seen some of these local developing countries drug manufacturers, and they are shady at best. The drugs they produce are far inferior to the originals from the patent holders. This idea will only have the effect of deterring big pharmaceutical companies from developing new drugs aimed at developing countries in future.

  • More effective a solution would be if a fair pricing act is determined by a consortium of pharmaceutical companies and international organizations. The pharmaceutical companies keep selling the drugs, but at a more equitable price that is related to the country's cost of living. Big pharmaceutical companies are not pro bono organizations. If you take the dough away, they will not sell anymore.

  • The idea is naive as are the other comments on the video. It's a tragedy for children to be born with HIV, but HIV transmission is perfectly preventable.

New drugs are expensive due to high cost of development and high risk of failure. Patents protect the innovator but also force complete disclosure of the drug which leads others to avenues of possible competition. Two good drugs, each patented, may compete with each other. How do you know the czar of patent pool will be "honorable"?

  • so awesome!! THIS IS WHAT DESIGN SHOULD MEANT TO BE FOR!!

communicate ideas the best way it cans!!

    WELL DONE!

  • Think nano silver.

  • Exactly, instead of trying to design pharmaceuticals to fight AIDS, we should mass produce colloidal/nano silver but then again Big Pharma wouldn't want people to know you can get better for less than $50 and the New World Order eugenicists wouldn't want their depopulation schemes compromised.

  • This sounds like a really good idea, hope it works out.

  • Yes but colloidal silver is a much better idea

  • who do you think you are! As long as you are Born, eat , Shit and Died you are still human no different from them living in the same planet.

  • Fab fab fab!

  • Cool vid, I'm going to post it around

  • Excellent video - really clear and makes the idea very easy to understand.

  • Great Video! I think this audiovisual concept of getting the point across will help get many more signatures - get signing people!
