HOLY crap that's what he actually says! OMG I just finished watching it, and I thought he was just blabbering... Before this clip, I saw another clip from the 1950's version, and the girl says "Klaatu Barada Nikto" to Gort, and he shuts down... OMG that's so amazing, well spotted.
yeah i was looking for it the first time i watched it and didn't understand what he said, but i knew he said something so i watched it again and caught it.
@pillsburydoughboy47 hmm really? ever since I was little I had addressed GORT as a character within the movie, I suppose your right though, "it" doesn't really have a personality. Though it's slightly more confusing to use the term "it" than "he" since many people like to address Gort as a character.
Also I've heard rumors that another sequel/remake will be made of The Day The Earth Stood Still occuring after the events of this film apparently, with a new 'Klaatu alien' in the form of a human female or something. I dunno its just rumors, could be false...or maybe not?
I like this new Gort. Wish i had one lol. Anyhow since most of you seem confused this is what happens. Random person shot the alien Klaatu, Klaatu falls down but is caught by Helen, then Gort senses violence and activates to ensure the protection of Keanu Reeves' Klaatu. However, Klaatu says "Klaatu Barada Nikto" (although with no subtitles) and the message is sort of like a "do not harm the stupid humans" and so Gort deactivates under Klaatus command. :)
i propose it like an Identification system to test if if it is an enemy or friend but this not being the case as to the original movie helen benson was able to say it and her not being klaatu
okay, I'm kind of young in the game about this but I did love the movie! But why did he announce his name to gort? what was the purpose of that? All I could think of is that is was for assurance....IDK help me out here,....thanks,....
Okay, if you dont like the movie then dont bad mouth it just shut up, and They did use Klaatu Barrada Nikto. It is sped up, and made to sound more like an alien language in a scene. And it is a GOOD movie.

Worst movie ever made...and Will Smiths kid should have to do 400 hours of community service for making us watch his no skill ass during that crap of a movie...Im genuinely mad after spending my time and money on such a shitty film. I feel like I deserve to be paid a good amount of money, or have a free blowjob from a hot Latin prostitute paid for by the Smith family for that crap. I have never been so dissapointed.. Will Smiths kid SUCKS BALLS and licks BUTTHOLES!!!!

I agree. I hated the movie and I wanted to slap Jaden Smith. I really dislike triumph of the human spirit blowjob movies, which serve only to grovel at the altar of humanity even while chastising our wastefulness and irrepressibly violent nature.
@xlerosx trust me I did and the original kicks ass. I think the remake has it's flaws, but overall...it wasn't a major disaster like alot of other remakes that's been dishing out for the past few years.
@xlerosx AHH MEHN That piece of shit of a Psycho remake forever pisses me off. There is only a hand full of horror remakes that I'll stand behind and say "Yeah, it wasn't bad at all".
does these words remind you of the words "clatto vereta necktie" from army of darkness(for ipad)

Gort looks so smexy in the remake, it's a shame he was apparently destroyed.
ChildishWonders 2 years ago
no; deactivated, only its creators can destroy it.
the word you are looking for is "it" not "he."

and does GORT even talk?

No it's Klaatu. Supposedly Keanu Reeves is the one who insisted on the line being in the film.

Klaatu Barada Nikto means Klaatu is dead or something.

I don't mind remake attempts. What scares me is young people-or anyone.. Looking up certain Great/influential movies and watching the remakes.
Planet of the Apes
Psycho
The Day the Earth Stood Still
Roller Ball
Death Race....
