  • Don't you get tired of hearing this classic overplayed on the radio?

    Oh, wait...

    Oh well.

  • really good crisp notes. good then, good today

  • Man, This goes perfect with a Stoli n Tonic !!

  • @LedHed65

  • @bplumser ...Good stuff though!! LOL

  • @The6thSimpson

It IS a totally different band than the Rumours era. Even with some of the same members, completely different vibe.

  • JUST BEAUTIFUL!...Can't believe I had the good sense to buy this as a kid (at school with lunch-money)...Jig Saw Puzzle Blues on the flip...orange CBS...years later found it on Mike Vernon's legendary Blue Horizon...A TREASURE, fer shure...Lee

  • It's almost like a totally different band to the Rumours era Fleetwood Mac.

  • @The6thSimpson it is a totally differnt band it was the best and only FM worth listening to I did love the Bob Welch stuff because I was a fan of his but when I hear the song name Black Magic Woman.....I only think of Peter Greens Fleetwood Mac....No Women screwing things up too lol

  • 'cellent

  • thumbs up for Jeremy Spencer at 1:58!!

  • this is the song to make you appreciate real music

  • Really good! Greetings from Finland

  • Artists need to be dying of hunger in order to be efficient. If they are not then they start to get greedy they loose their talent and they do it for the money. Artists provide a public service to society. They do things that people in other professions don't do. they struggle for their art. Screw PIPA and screw SOPA. As soon as an artist releases his work it belongs to the general public.

  • szybko dodam jeszcze ze bylo to w poczatkach lat siedemdziesiatych

  • mialam nascie lat,moj brat mial pocztowke z tym utworem, juz wtedy sluchalam go na okraglo, jest przepiekny

  • i love watching this version. it's like a conversation between guitars.

  • who is the slide-player?

  • @stoofbuis Jeremy Spencer

  • the finest piece of music ever produced..........its timeless

  • Luv Luv Luv this and always will. Dreamy, sensual, tingly just amazing

  • fucking beautiful.:) when i learn to play i want this to be the first song i learn

  • Just listened to it on Parenthood, & had to come & track it down............. Took me back a bit....

  • This song always reminded me of "Happy Trails" by Roy Rogers. It has that lazy Western swing feel and I can almost feel the bouncing of the saddle on a horse. Weird how different people feel about songs. One thing for sure, it's one of their best by the best lineup FM ever put on stage.

  • The people who wrote and played this song deserve to be knighted. This is one of the most beautiful songs ever to be recorded.

  • @MrMoggyman I agree. I vote for the sexiest song ever.

  • Man, you just can't help but melt into this song. Guaranteed play this in a shopping centre at 12 o clock on a Saturday and just watch the busy people stop rushing, put down their shopping and just drift....for a few moments. This track should be offered as therapy on the U.,k. n.h.s. for stress relief.

  • look at how young they were and ooozing with talent they had there whole life ahead of them who knew what was in the cards for them later on in life .

  • @sheddski What do you mean? :)

  • cool

  • SUBLIME. This song always makes me think of driving along in the dead of night, surrounded by empty paastures and woods along the sides of the roads.....

  • maraming salamat po.

  • FANTASTIČNO PO MOM ČEIFU

  • ..so wonderful...

  • This was supposed to be inspired by Sleepwalk by Santo & Johnny.

  • I prefer Go Your Own Way, but this is really nice and relaxing.

  • Man that old dude on the drums when he was young with out that _fat Beard

    THEY USE TO BE YOUNG

  • ca me fait réver ..

  • The only video I've 'liked' on youtube ! Possibly only one ever.

    No. 1000.

  • Excelente melodia!!!

  • TROP BIEN LE TOP

  • so relaxing

  • McVie is right on Micks' shoulder. Makes sense when you listen to pretty much anything they ever did since. A really solid rhythm section. Faultless in the genre. Plodding and boring in others. Hey ho.....

  • Love the old band. This song is my favorite.

  • Yes yes yes in my opinion the best lineup of a legendary band.

  • An all time favourite, takes me back to so many memories

  • Peter Green is just amazing, no other words to describe that troubled man.

  • mick on drums...never breaks a sweat

  • peter green top man

  • i meant to write the day Princess diana died

  • i remember they played this song on the radio Princess Diana very Emotional

  • jim'll fix it:~~

  • @strobelightbeam

Are you sure it was mimed? I thought old grey whistle test was all live recording.

  • @mingmongmang No doubt in my mind this was live. After reading your response (never read the post you are replying to I must confess) I watched for a 3rd straight time (I never get tired of it & my wife commented "I could listen to this all day"). Looking for subtle differences in the sound of the leads (especially at the start of Danny & Jeremy's solos)...and there are none. If you listen to it back to back with the single version, this is clearly different. I like this performance best of all.

  • @HeartoftheDragonColo I'm affraid to say it was mimed, just watch mick fleetwood... where do the cymbals come from while he's on the toms ? they we're obviously told to mime because they definitely don't need to !! peace

  • So relaxing.

  • Just proves you don't have to play fast to be good

  • @Midffielder6 THANK YOU

  • @Midffielder6 u r so right,neither do u have to know a lot of notes.

  • @Midffielder6 Thankfully the 80s ended, and life went on.

  • @Midffielder6 A-MEN!

  • this always mellows me down to just a few gentles sighs

  • I like this tune, though I don't know how you lip synch to an instrumental, Tony Blackburn said he didn't like this one around the time he said people take music too serously, this was back in 1978, Birmingham ice rink has reopened now I believe, it's now planet ice haven't been there for years though

  • i would live to play this with white fender stratocaster on a some party and some night with my girlfriend and once when me nursingkids are on bed

  • Funny how they put the shortest guy in the back where you can barely see him... damn creepy troll.

  • I am also quite sure it's 'mimed', because it's identical to the studio recording. The live recordings have a slightly different arrangement with Jeremy Spencer on slide instead of the quieter, less penetrant slide of Peter Green (on the single version).

  • Comment removed

  • TOO BAD They're lipsynching! They all look "uncomfortable" about faking it.

  • @legbider - it's not the first time, but they should have had some fun with it, like Buffalo Springfield when they performed For What It's Worth on TV back in the day.

  • Peter Green one of the greatest along with Stan Webb of Chicken Shack.

I loved Chicken Shack's I'd Rather Go Blind & Tears In The Wind.

  • 3 guitars! Just like The Outlaws...

  • HeseQ., They where, could you get this sound on a bottle of Evian Water and a veggie snack...Er...noooooo. Jaysus, we are becoming so masticated by the jaws of the people that rule us that we have no will to be individuals anymore. I am sick of it now.

  • I hate to say this, but this is Miming, as carried out on so many Broadcast events, with dubbed-on audience clapping (possibly). That's why they look so passive. BBC also has live versions from TOTP and I remeber seeing it live there. Rod Stewart and the Faeces blew miming away after they started playing football in the middle of a song, on TOTP. Whilst the song continued!.

  • @Tornfreedom I was wondering if this was mimed actually. They might not have had any choice in the mater

  • @Tornfreedom

    Hilarious hahaha

  • One of the loveliest guitar instrumentals ever, composed by Peter Green. But don't forget Danny Kirwan's input in this. He doesn't have a song credit for this, but he worked out a lot of the very important harmonies which make this song. Peter Green always said that he coudn't have finished Albatross without Danny's contributions. Also it's Kirwan's vibrato in the shared lead parts with Peter Green that gives this (and other performances) such an emotional, special touch to it.

  • arguably the finest blues guitarist ever. bb king's favorite.

  • holy shit the quality is amazing, <3

  • ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFULL INSTRUMENTALS EVER!!!

  • I's showing my ignornce here, but did they write this tune???

  • @lilymacsification

Yes. Peter Green wrote it (who left before they got super famous)

  • @lilymacsification Yes, peter Green wrote this (or maybe clapton did - peter's words)

  • @Tonicwine999 clapton had nothing to do with this or any other peter green song????.

  • @EPIPHONE82 I know. But he even said it himself in the Peter Green documentary "man of the world"

  • arguably the best Jewish blues guitarist ever..Peter Green.

  • Peter Green...amazing. He squeezes as much soul and emotion out of one note than most guitarists do in a lifetime.

  • looks like Adam Sandlers dad ; )

  • Look at Peter Greens vibrato!!! Its amazing.

  • I used to love ice skating to this at Birmingham`s ice rink, which is no longer there. Oh the good old days, where has time gone?

  • gives me goose bumps wow

  • heard this last night and i fell in love with it :)

  • heeeeeeeeeeeeereeeeeeeeee coooooooooooomes the suuuuuuuuuuun kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiingggggg

  • Love is ................

  • 3 People have never seen an albatross in their live(s) LOL

  • 3 people are deaf

  • My brother got me into this and The Moody Blues as well class.

  • He's smiling 'cause they're playing along to the record.

  • Peter Green Pure Class

  • gives me goosebumps

  • This was some of the pure brilliance from the 60's, and it catches the feeling of the entire embodiment of some of the coolest music ever made. Good music for the young 'uns to listen up on.

  • there's something primal about this song-its very simple, but incredibly soothing. i hope being analytical doesnt damper its effect on anyone, but im a scientist-sorry. it must have something to do with the drum line that sounds like a mom's heartbeat to a baby and the cymbals that sound like gentle waves. the guitar chord changes slide instead of being abrupt, and the bottle neck sounds like a sea bird floating on the air. this song never ceases to make me take a deep breath and relax.

  • I probably should hate this, as this was the song I went down on, on my first appearance on a national radio pop quiz. Well, that was then, and I was too "young" to know it. Luckily, as you grow older you are able to look back in time and get to know what you have missed out on. A brilliant little piece of music.

  • love this so much xxxx

  • sais quoi les 3 ignare qui n'aime pas sa sans doute ils sont sourd

  • Who is the blonde guy?

  • @lala5732 He's Danny Kirwan, joined the band after their 2nd Album, and I think he was a Roadie before that, although he had had his own band. He made a brilliant foil for PG's guitar and Albatross wouldn't have been possible without him, although I have seen PG and the Splinter Group play it, without Danny. He's had a very hard time since leaving the Mac.

  • @Tornfreedom,

I am not sure Danny Kirwan ever was a roady. But he indeed had a band of his own, called Boilerhouse. After he joined FM, he became far more than Peter's foil. He was very much needed, because apart from Peter G, FM was a rather uncreative band, with only one other composer, namely J. Spencer, who only penned Elmore James clones. Kirwan composed about half of the songs - until he got sacked 4 years later - and introduced other styles in the band like pop and ragtime.

  • I had taken some Blue 4 way the nite I saw them introduce this song at the S.F. Fillmore 1969------I thought I was in heaven--

  • One of the most beautiful melodies, ever! Peter Green rocks!

  • ♥ .

  • toujours et encore énorme bravo

  • I bought this record for a friend I was in love with when I was 15. He didnot like it and my love for him ended abruptly that day. Someone that didnot love this music wasnot going to be my boyfriend ;-) After all these years, I am glad I escaped......lol. THis is still one of the best songs I have ever heard...

  • @DirkjeA

    marry me

  • @DirkjeA - well done !!! Someone who is not able to lay back and dream with this nice tune, is not worth being considered to fly with you for a life time. You must know, albatross couples are monogamists and they only meet once every two years (which is not normal in human thinking) to give birth to a new Albeechick life. Peter Green is telling this guitary story with his own laid back keys. You seem to have the right attitude to lay back when the right one will come one day. Best of luck 2 U!

  • @Gynacord Thanks for your kind words. I did find the love of my life, and we are together for 25 years now.

We have a great son who loves good music, so I did good when I sent thay guy away. Wish you a lot of sunshine on your path. Have a great live.

  • Quite a collection of vintage guitars here!

  • Bruno Mars can only dream of creating something like this... an electric guitar is probably too heavy for his spaghetti strand "arms".. thank god there are classics like this to remind us of what is talent and the opposite of what is in the charts now

  • Peter Green is a legend, severely under rated

  • one song, five paths.fleetwood keeping the waves high, mac being the heart beat, spencer the tears, danny the desire and peter the brain,in other words he's everything...

  • how relaxing...they all looked so young. bunch of kids-kids today might learn about talent by watching this.

  • how relaxing

  • OMG how i love it

  • So very beautiful; takes me back to a better time and place.

  • Without doubt this is the finest piece of instrumental pop music ever. I have asked my eldest daughter to ensure that this is one of the pieces of music that i would like played at my funeral, whenever that day comes.

  • To think it wasn't even supposed to be a serious piece of music.

It was recorded in a jam session at the end of a recording session for the album Let's Play On

  • @eurocharter You mean the album "Then Play On."

  • @eurocharter I did take Peter quite some time to compose this though. He was very careful with its arrangement. He also said he got the idea from a lick he heard Eric Clapton play live. He is my favourite blues guitarist - and there are plenty of good ones!

  • Has to be the best instrumental of all during the rock era

Absolutely beautiful. I loved the original Fleetwood Mac

  • I enjoy seeing this live. A soothing tune.

  • Modern bands suck.

  • @Nautilus1972

Thats cause music today has had its feeling and soul stripped

  • @clikityclak No, it's because people like you don't look hard enough. There is great music out there. It just flies below the radar. You have to dig a little to find it.

  • @crescentfreshbret

Yes great music is lloonnngg gone, no feeling at all just over produced crap that is supposed to emulate feeling :(

  • By the looks of it, in addition to everyone else in the group,Jeremy Spencer contributed some lovely slide work to this piece too.

  • One of the most evocative tunes of all time! One can almost see the albatross hanging in the sea breeze, wingtips fluttering, above the white misty spray from the breakers as they crash onto the rocks...looking looking looking down...

  • @Vinscient i can almost feel the weight of that albatross of loving this song so much hanging around my neck like a grand piano.

  • Such a beautiful song!

  • so peaceful

  • Strangely enough, this was recorded at the time Peter Green was effectively working his notice. Mimed or not, it is good to have quality colour footage of this legendary line-up.

  • Fleetwood Mac.

  • Peter, and later Danny, must have figured there was nothing left musically in them, after having achieved the level of perfection.

  • Such a timeless classic...Love it!!!

  • I love to see Peter enjoyin this so much.

Always when he plays he has this expression of gratitude

  • @HeseQ I totally agree with you, but you got to keep in mind that this man was trippin his balls of at the moment of filming.

  • @guitarlover891 I Doubt it

  • Brilliant :)

  • YOU CAN SAY WHAT YOU WANT BUT DRUGS KILLED THIS EXCELLENT GROUP OF SUCH TALENTED PLAYERS NOT EGOS

  • Fleetwood Mac with Peter Green, and Danny Kirwan would've been the next Who, Rolling Stones huge British rock band, along with Led Zeppelin. Unforunately, Peter Green left 5/1970, which put the FM's Boston Tea Party live album on permanent hold until Lindsey Buckingham left FM the first time in 1985. If that live album was ever released to the public prior to '85, the "mirage" of pop FM would've been destroyed. If Peter Green lasted another six months, FM's history would've been changed.

  • @strangeones4 Agreed!!!!!

  • the greatest piece of music ever recorded, soo soothing

  • Watching an old doc about Green (na' no Dixon) ;last eve.

Forget how good this was, and wishing for balmy breezes across the seea this eve.

  • Although Peter Green composed Albatross, he said that he would never have been able to achieve the number 1 hit record without the help of Danny Kirwan.

  • WOW look how young they were back then there whole life ahead of them

  • and as it should be...

    ♥♥ this song!

  • Wow... I was just in another world

  • Absolutely beautiful, ive heard this song 1000s of times and it still sends me!

  • Amazing quality. Other than the clothes and the fact that the music is good, this could've been filmed yesterday.

  • This is......MUSIC!!

  • And im in the mood for........ :D

I remember when i first heard this when I was about ten and i'd sneak downstairs in the middle of the night to listen to it.

  • Peter Green at his best. No one can get anywhere near as perfect guitar music as this bit of music

  • real fleetwood mac ! i know i was there
