i have the same exact les paul i got it for christmas 5 months ago its pretty good for beginer/novice players i recomend it you get quality sounds out of it that you expect from epiphone and it sounds great with my line 6 spider 4 and even when i use my digitech rp6 pod its great for the price cant beat this guitar

My friend owns that Special II, just like the one this guy is playing. And I own the M - 50, same colour as this guy's. To me, I feel that the M - 50 is more suitable for leads. While the Special II is more for rhythms, as its neck pick up has better response than the M - 50 neck pick up. I'm going to mod my M - 50 with EMG 81 on the bridge and 60 on the neck. However, I'm just wondering if this is a wise move to make for my guitar, or should I just buy a better guitar?
dude, for improvisation these solos are very nice, well put together with some good talent being shown. you arent going crazy and shredding the whole time which is good but you have shown signs that you can shred. give yourself more credit. nicely put together. i tip my hat to you sir.

The LTD has a bit better tone but lacks of sustain. I have a EC100 and I can tell you the stock pickups are not too good, quite similar to an epiphone. But this epiphone hasnt impressed me...

Don't forget neither of these are professional guitars - only first or second guitars (second only if used as a backup). They are both cheap, but whatever looks better should be your pick, but just to mention - Epiphones mainly suck due to the pickups.

LP > M50.

naa i use both these guitars drop tuned, either C or B ... and the Epiphone has very bassy pickups which sound amazing and warm at drop tuning with the more bass cleff orientated notes, the ESP is amazing, but the pickups are very trebly and so dont sound that great to me

I've owned a les paul special 2 in the past, a couple of them infact and the pickups sounded muddy, then again my amp at the time wasnt all that great.
the LTD seems like a well made guitar. it seems like a higher range guitar, rarely goes out of tune.
the les paul was pretty much always going out of tune.
the first les paul I had the headstock came unglued from the neck, same shit happened with the replacement. I also had an SG special and the same shit happened to that. luck ? i dont think so

Go and read my comment again, I said the HEADSTOCK came unglues from the neck. The neck and headstock are 2 different pieces in most guitars, they are cut from the same piece of wood and glues together the other way around coz switching grain patterns like that gives the neck more strength.
I am well aware that the les paul 2 has a bolt on neck, thats a completely different issue, douchebag.
If you are making a guitar comparison you could put some chords in, because i hear more difference in chords than single (high) notes. It would be easier to compare with chords, but that is my opionion.

Hey man, they are both heavy if you're going to be playing for like 45 minutes at a gig. So you dont really have a choice there lol they are both fairly heavy. I never tried a Epiphone Les Paul on my amp but if you're into metal, go the LTD. Has a thinner neck so you can shred it and the bridge in my opinion is more comfortable compared to the T-O-M on the Les Paul. Replace the pickups on the M-50 and you got a wicked guitar, try both though. Have a good one :)
my LP spII is dark cherry red, i use .12 strings and usually play in drop tuning couple of micro adjustments to the bridge nothing major. I like the 50 series from LTD/ESP but after trying them out head to head i decided on the epiphone
I own a LP Special II. I wanted to get the EC50 From ESP but i decided on the Epiphone due to the fact that testing them on a Fender HotRod Deville with .12 strings no further adjustments Epiphone soundede better. Much more confortable. but then again it's my opinion.

I almost got a Special II a few weeks ago.
God I'm glad I convinced my parents to spend the extra money on a Les Paul 100. :)
I am absolutely in love with it...
By the way, nice solo, and I don't use my pinky either. :P

esp, ibanez , jackson have faster necks and a thrashier sound to them depending on what sort of music your into. my self i prefer classic rock so i go the les paul.(epiphone) but if i had the money id buy a paul reid smith awsome guitar. or a thomas anderson

ESP LTD won by far, the Epiphone sounded cheaper and a bit rustier (string wise) than the LTD, which sounded very good. cheers

I've owned a les paul special 2 in the past, a couple of them infact and the pickups sounded muddy, then again my amp at the time wasnt all that great.
the LTD seems like a well made guitar. it seems like a higher range guitar, rarely goes out of tune.
the les paul was pretty much always going out of tune.
the first les paul I had the headstock came unglued from the neck, same shit happened with the replacement. I also had an SG special and the same shit happened to that. luck ? i dont think so

Go and read my comment again, I said the HEADSTOCK came unglues from the neck. The neck and headstock are 2 different pieces in most guitars, they are cut from the same piece of wood and glues together the other way around coz switching grain patterns like that gives the neck more strength.
I am well aware that the les paul 2 has a bolt on neck, thats a completely different issue, douchebag.

If you are making a guitar comparison you could put some chords in, because i hear more difference in chords than single (high) notes. It would be easier to compare with chords, but that is my opionion.

I'd buy the LTD, since I don't get along with tune-o-matic bridges. Also I prefer the 25.5" scale to the 24.75" (I think the LTD has a 25.5")

i bought a black m-50 that had slightly different pickups than what comes stock and it sounds perfect but i guess that depends on what music you like (i like metallica so this sounds perfect) but i guess a zepplin or skynard kind of guy might think otherwise

Hey man, they are both heavy if you're going to be playing for like 45 minutes at a gig. So you dont really have a choice there lol they are both fairly heavy. I never tried a Epiphone Les Paul on my amp but if you're into metal, go the LTD. Has a thinner neck so you can shred it and the bridge in my opinion is more comfortable compared to the T-O-M on the Les Paul. Replace the pickups on the M-50 and you got a wicked guitar, try both though. Have a good one :)

my LP spII is dark cherry red, i use .12 strings and usually play in drop tuning couple of micro adjustments to the bridge nothing major. I like the 50 series from LTD/ESP but after trying them out head to head i decided on the epiphone

I own a LP Special II. I wanted to get the EC50 From ESP but i decided on the Epiphone due to the fact that testing them on a Fender HotRod Deville with .12 strings no further adjustments Epiphone soundede better. Much more confortable. but then again it's my opinion.
