  • This is great. I don't know if it could ever happen but it is a really nice concept. My fav part of the Red Mars series is about the space elevator. Both building it and taking it down in the war.

  • props to the work on this. i feel like a time traveler, going back in time to watch an animation done on an an Amiga by a color-blind animator while taking LSD / PCP. it was delightful.

multi-station approach would add significant weight. for the 60k miles / 100k of interconnecting cables, the stations in between might be inconsequential.

long-term problems involve on-going maintenance. space debris, like from chinese missile tests or satellite collisions, pose a very real long-term problem.

  • I know you space elevator enthusiast will give thumbs down on my comment but non the less i have to say; space elevators are a dream too far. It`s too complex and expensive. Not in a 100 years would this be practical. It`s not like the fist airplane or space shuttle. A space elevator is mad madness.

  • Imagine what technology will be out there in 2110. I think you are wrong.

  • That was fabulous.

    Well done!

  • Oh it's a TV screen I guess lol.

  • what?...@2:25 did that lady just fly all the way down to earth?

  • You are the best. Thank you very much for everything you have posted, specially THE SPACE ELEVATOR. Thank you once again. The Idea given by Aurthur C. Clerk in 1950s. That great person live in my country, Sri Lanka since 1956. We should dedicate your great videos to him too.
