  • My point exactly! This is surely the place to put things right and Dr Jazz was not composed or even partly composed by Walter Melrose.

  • @eruptionista Well we cleared that up for everyone (Ihope) lol. Thanks again for commenting!

  • Dr Jazz was composed by King Oliver alone - Melrose was a publisher who put his own name on compositions

  • @eruptionista Jelly Roll Morton was on the writing staff of Melrose Brothers Music Company. It seemed to be common in the 1920s-30s for persons who made a different arrangement of a song to also take "a little credit" for the work. Several of my record labels show Morton as the composer of a piece that he merely arranged with the true composer 's name left completely off. Thanks for you comment!

  • this morton piece is one of my favorite of all time...just love the rowdy vocal delivery as well....some clarinet mr. simeon lawd! "he's got what i need, i say he has"....absolutely. another favorite is the "jungle blues"....jelly roll and the hot peppers are sensational. thanks for sharing.

  • great live perfomance

  • @handycappo Glad you enjoyed this little known piece. Thanks for stopping by

  • Omer Simeon's clarinet is perfect!

  • Hello Central, give me Doctor Jazz He's got what I need I say he has When the world goes round and got those blues He's the man that makes me get out both my dancin' shoes The more I get the more I want it seems I'll page old Doctor Jazz in my dreams When my troubles pound (?) and mix He's the one who gets me fixed Hello Central give me Doctor Jazz. In the old days, before telephones had dials, you called the Central office and asked for your party by name.
No, vi dico.Comunque per questo il pianista tra i più brillanti del suo secolo e per questo va onorato e rispettato. date a Cesare quel ce è di Cesare. è stato un piacere.

  • i wouldn't mind those links either..

  • and then you see those metal heads and they think metal is the hardest and most complicated music. pff... jazz is very beaudiful music with hight musical value. this is music then

  • @loco4naruto It depends on how you look at it. Jazz is very complex and difficult, but so is metal, I would listen to jazz over metal any day though

  • @jorgeverallosa - Well, give or take a Louis Armstrong. . .

  • Thank you for sharing this rapturous musical treat. This really is the creme de la creme of JRM's recordings. I think so anyway !!!

  • Thanks so much for this. My parents think I'm really weird for liking this kind of music because I'm only 16. Haha.

  • I used to own a 78 of this recording of when I was a kid .Rock and Roll was on the ascendancy and there was nothing ,nothing ,in those days, that came up to the quality of what this recording represents .This is the best Jazz record ever made.We are not living in a Golden Age.Not.Let us stop fooling our selves.

  • best muzic ever y love it .tanksss!!!

  • Johnny St Cyr played both banjo and guitar. The movie text says 'Johnny St Cyr banjo' and also the group photo shows him playing banjo, but when you listen to the music you'll hear that he is playing guitar on this recording.

  • I'm 14, and my whole account is dedicated to ragtime, early jazz and similar styles of music form the 20's and 30's. It's nice to know there are others like me, teenagers who don't spend all day listening to Soujla Boy and Miley Cirus through their earbuds. I'd much rather hear a good 78 Jelly Roll record then any of the pop-crap today.

  • I hear ya

  • @HepCat215 I'm nearly 14 and I totaly agree.

  • @HepCat215 YESSS! THANK YOU!

  • @HepCat215 YESSS! THANK YOU! I'm 14 also and i love the early jazz.

Luckily, we have a better situation, here in Europe (but not a lot better...)

  • @oldtimejazzfan
