  • Have you seen Stagefright I987 I fucking love that movie

  • I'm glad to see someone speaking so highly of Contamination, even if its just for the unintentional humor. I love that movie, definitely one of the more unique video nasties.

  • im watching your vids to try and find a banned horror film set in a camp and the trees come alive and attack them and a a branch goes through a girls oppend legs and like sort of rapes her please tell me what its called btw it is not banned any more it is sort of 1980 or something please help me i just want to know the name its been annoying me for the whole day

  • @landmine217 You're thinking of "Evil Dead"!

  • @DarkAngel182 The way I imagined you saying that was hilarious. :D

  • Dario Argento is SO much better than perverted Jess franco!

  • Andy Milligans film is BLOOD Rites not Blood Feast.

  • @erebus73 I now, I got my titles mixed up.

    My bad!

  • @DarkAngel182 Yeaah i remember Blood Feast its actually talked about in Monsters Crash the Pajama Party. Its in the little pamphlet thingy.

  • @DarkAngel182 Yeaah i remember Blood Feast its actually talked about in Monsters Crash the Pajama Party. Its in the little pamphlet thingy.

Oh it was also made in 1965.

  • What i find funny about 'The Bogey Man' is the way the annoying kid gets killed

  • aye you go and watch your kiddies horrors then. jess franco films are fun in a sick and twisted way more phycological horror and just stupid plot what most horrors dont follow than the basic ahh zombie eat brain.

  • @kukluxkhris

I would hardly call his films psychological horror, or twisted, they are just low budget pieces of inept crap.

I've seen many of his films, not just the ones on the nasties list, and haven't found an entertaining one yet. I often wonder if the man has ever made a competant film.

At least with Bruno Mattei films, they fall into "so bad theyre good" category. Franco's films are just plain bad (IMHO of course).

  • aye they may be low budget but there fun and thats the most thing horror movies aint scary at all i usally burst out laughing at them all. Reason why i love the Jess Franco movies i do agree magority of them are piss. But some are fucking hilarious!

  • and Bloody moon is one of the rubbish ones lol

  • @kukluxkhris, jess franco sucks, you would have to tie me to a chair to make me watch another film like bloody moon or devil hunter, worst films ever made

  • faggot, jess franco movies are great fun.

  • No, films like "Zombie Creeping Flesh" are good fun. Jess Franco's films are just shite!

  • appareantly night of the demon was a good one but i've never seen it

  • i agree totally with the jess franco thing. I read somewhere that at one point he was directing 7 films a year which says a lot about how much thought was put in them, and his wife is in most of them, even though she can't act. Blood Rites is one of my favourites, just because its so campy and funny, and you don't mention Cannibal Terror...quite rightly so!

  • Love to live in sweden, everything uncut and 15+ is the highest rating aveliable.

  • i brought the burning its ok film not much blood or gore though the guy from short circuit is in this film when he was about 14 15years old.

  • I always think that 'what was all the fuss about' with all of the video nasties that I've seen, especially with real murder & mutilation readily available on the internet these films should stay banned because they're so dreadful.

  • Quite right!

  • Yes. My edition of Cannibal Holocaust let's it be known right on the front cover that it is unrated. It is a brilliant movie and I love showing it to my friends just to see their sickened reactions to it. They can't believe that such a thing exists. Honestly I felt Salo is a tad bit more brutal. At least it bothered me more than anything else. Thanks for replying back, man. Hope you've been having a great week.

  • Hey man! I always enjoy your videos. I just picked up Cannibal Holocaust from Grindhouse Release. It is totally uncut and unrated. Before the movie even begins they give a warning that it is uncut and the viewer should be warned. Plus there's an animal cruelty free setting! I've never seen a setting like that one excpet on this DVD! lol

  • yeah, i have that version, does your say unrated on the front cover, that's what mine says, anyways it's a good film, don't you think?

  • hi dark angel u really no your horrors mate just bought cannibal apocalypse ,really good horror ,i remember me an me mate seeing horrors like the burning, the final exam, the final terror, hills have eyes etc through the 80s great days, uve got a really good collection mate

  • Thx!

  • "Bloody Moon? BLOODY AWFUL, more like!" LOL!

  • You mention that _Blood Feast_ was one of the earliest gore films. I think it was THE first to earn that designation.

Haven't seen that film that thrashmetalteen mentions, _Jigoku_, but I have seen what may well be the first "gore" film ever -- Georges Franju's short _Blood of the Beasts_. In fact, I saw it right here on Youtube some time ago -- a documentary about a slaughterhouse, in which Franju leaves nothing to the imagination. Not good, IMHO, but of interest for historical reasons

  • Have you heard of the Japanese gore film Jigoku? It dates back to 1960, earlier than Herschell Gordon Lewis' Blood Feast.

  • hey dark angel i remember when i was a young kid your website realm of horror singlehandedly got me into underground horror, so you were actually quite an inspriation

  • Thanks for the kind words, Realm of Horror is still going strong and (hopefullY) will continue to do so for many years to come!

  • thats not really cool. much better to have the offical DVD/VHS releases

  • Best version of ferox is prob the limited edition collectors tin (ultrabit) as it has the best soundtrack and video quality and limited to 3333. impressive collection btw

  • I prefer the US Grindhouse disc as it has the most extras.

  • by the way, if i get the US grindhouse disc from amazon, is it true i might not receive it because the uncut version is banned here in the UK, anyways is the US grindhouse disc work on all regions, by the way what does NTSC mean?

  • Cannibal Holocaust MIGHT get confiscated by customs IF they inspected the contents and IF they fealt it breached the obscene publications act, but them very very rarely check stuff from Amazon US.

Not sure if the Grindhouse disc is Region 1 or Region 0 so can'se say, do a google.

NTSC is the US TV standard, the UK uses PAL. All UK players can play NTSC format discs, though they look black and white on some older TV sets depending on how the player outputs the signal.

  • well i know someone who lives in the UK, and he got the same version of cannibal holocaust as me, from ebay and he got it without problems, anyways don't you live in the UK, and in your video it shows you have the uncut version, so i don't imagine yours was confiscated! anyways i watc dvd's more on my PC, and i found out the grindhous dvd is region ALL, but my monitor is LCD, so it's not old, so do you think there will be a better chance for it to work on the PC?

  • Yes I live in the UK, what I was saying was if you order the disc from Amazon US, customs shouldn't bother checking it, so you'll be allright.

You don;t have to worry about PAL or NTSC screen resolution with PC monitors, the screen refresh rate is much higher than that of a normal TV, so US discs will work no problem.

  • Wow! i am WELL impressed with your collection and your taste in films. You like talked about at least half a dozen of my favourite horror films ever in this part, one after the other. Totally agree about not wasting your time with censored versions of some of these films, its the same as remakes (i better not get started on that subject LOL) i wont waste my time watching them, they have to be UNCUT to enjoy them fully.

  • Well thanks for the comments, I was going to ask where you'd been buying these from to get so badly ripped off, as the US Amazon and Dutch specialists "Chainsaw Video" only sell legitimate stuff, but if its the original pre-cert tapes you're after then you're going to struggle.

  • Yes but that's naughty, TRUE collectors should always buy the original article where one is available.

  • do you not find it hard to stomach all the animal violence? surely you cant find that entertaining? (please say no lol)

  • I did find the animal violence extremely hard to stomache and had to turn my head/hit the fast forward button whenever it appeared on screen.

  • If you want Cannibal Holocaust without animal cruelty, one of the Grindhouse releases from the US has a feature where you can view the film with the animal killings cut, but all the other gore intact.

  • Hey, did you know that the director of Cannibal Apocalypse died 6 years ago?

  • Indeed I did!

  • dont agree with censorship but animal violence should not be filmed for entertainment. although it seems fine for animals to be killed on cooking shows.

  • yeah. it's definetly shocking which is the objective of these movies. but it just doesn't feel right...

  • Is the animal violence in Cannibal Holocaust real?

  • I'm afriad it is!

  • dude! i was looking forward to buy that one but i don't think i have the guts to watch it knowing that...

  • I'm afraid all these old Italian cannibal films contain animal violence to some degree.

  • What's your opinion on hostel? I liked kill bill it was funny but i keep hearing bad things about it... You have a cool horror film collection!

  • Hostel?

Pretty brutal actually, I'd put it on the same par as the later "Saw" films.

  • Gee, your camera sux!

  • This was one of my early attempts and hadn't quite got the hang of all the settings. The actual video footage wasn't too bad, but after it went through YouTubes coverter came out rather dull and blurry.

  • Bloody Moon is Bloody Fun! How dare you!

  • Cos its crap?

  • On the contrary, I really like the out-there wackiness of it. Yes it's a bargain basement production, but for me personally the results have a vibrancy that a lot of the more well-known slashers terminally lack inbetween the red stuff. The Burning bores me - nothing happens for 45 minutes after the intro - by contrast Bloody Moon is non-stop memorable silliness pretty much all the way through!

  • you should chat with me. i collect rare and out of print movies. contamination is a cool movie. i recommend THE STUFF, within the woods is probly the mother of all collecters dreams, the 8mm shot movie was the first version of evil dead, it starred bruce cambell and only survives today on pirated prints. it was made to fund the first evil dead. it will never be released due to music rights. it can be obtained. but to own a copy of the print is the thing of dreams. get in touch

  • within the woods? The Sam Raimi one?

  • Cannibal Holocaust was really great. I thought it touched on a great issue of exploitation (i do realise that they were hypocritical with the animal deaths)

I thought Ferox was just trying to copy Holocaust with more gore & rape, but i enjoyed it nonetheless.

  • I believe that Dead & Buried didn't deserve to be banned, cause it wasn't too violent & it was a great film. But at least it gained infamy & became a cult hit!

  • It was actually dropped from the list in the end and not prosecuted and was later released uncut.

  • Cannibal Apocalypse, Ferox, and Holocaust are the best on the list in my opinion

  • Blood Feast it seems to me was like 1963.(yep looked it up). I can't imagine the kind of shock it put people into. Around that time 2000 Maniacs(1964)was a scream for some I'm sure.I keep seeing BEN and Williard behind you and I have to say that I saw them in the walkin theater when I was a kid when they came out with no adults around. They were scary and had the feeling of Steven by Alice Cooper.Emotional and depressed traumatic for a child alone.Good stuff. Back to your reviews..

  • wat The Burning was banned, that movie wasn't that bad lol. also cannibal holocaust rules (cough cough) nice video(s).

  • got cannibal ferox region 1 and it plays on my playstation 2 couldnt believe it im well chuffed with it.

  • "CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST" was originally released in the UK (pre-cert) by a long defunct company called "GO VIDEO" (cut) It was later released (intact) by Dutch company "CULT EPICS" who also released the uncut version of "HENRY:PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER"(which I paid £25.00 for at a film fair). "DEAD AND BURIED" was originally released by THORN-EMI (which I also have)

  • I really mean this: You should do Media/Horror reviews for a career. I would be surprised if you havn't all ready =|

  • I've bought the Blue Underground DVD "Contamination" (1980) for $14.95. This is a great film with loaded of blood and gore. It runs totally 95 mins uncut and uncensored. If you want to grab this uncut version and own the Blue Underground DVD, NOT the UK DVD. I would like to buy the Blue Underground DVDs for anymore. Also recommend: Cannibal Man (1972) Four of the Apocalypse (1975) Deep Red (1975) Fight for Your Life (1977) Zombi 2 (1979) Cannibals (1980) Cecilia (1982) by Jess Franco.

  • I saw Deep Red (Dario Argento)a while back and it was a slow strange movie and I wasn't too awfully impressed but the guy's teeth smashed out on the fireplace mantle left a strange(impression) burned into my mind. Not sure if we're talking about the same movie but Dario has a way of doing things.

  • I heard The burning is a great slasher film

also cannibal holocaust is one hell of a

movie as for dead & buried i never heard of it?

  • the point im trying to make is why have we got that law and the over countrys dont it seems like where all bound by some law or something dont see over countrys having a animal cruetlys rule i know i dont like to see animals hurt at all but why dont they have it.

  • i want to make 1 point ive looked on a forum and all the over countrys that have the film cannibal ferox dont have any cuts made to them so why is it out of all of them where the only country with cuts have we really sunk that low come on bbfc pass it after all it dont make sense why they after all this time are passing last house on the left.?

  • They cannot pass Ferox completely uncut because it would breach this country's laws on animal cruelty.

  • Actually, the UK version of CANNIBAL APOCALYPSE has all the same extras as the US version.

  • Man, now i wanna get most of these video nasties gems! But i have to use the torrents, though...

  • Contamination sound GOOD am gonna check that one out next! thanks for the reviews i like them alot :]

  • it's on youtube!

  • I thought I was a freak until i saw this.

Now I can can watch my sickness knowing im sane! So thanks for the reassurance.

My fave and think all time big classic is Maniac. Maniac is the best horror flick ever made.

  • Thanks for the compliment, however "Maniac" was never listed as a video nasty. It may have been available on video pre-VRA, but was never singled out by the DPP for prosecution.

  • Thats a surprise. A prosecution pursual consitutes video nasty then I take it!

  • Yes (sort-of). Confusion arises as "video nasty" is a subjective term that is still banded about today. It was used by the press at the time to describe unclassified horror films, it later came to mean those films that were listed for prosecution.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre is often reffered to as a video nasty as it was one of the films being critisised by the press at the time, however it never appeared on the governments prosecution list.

  • kool! u must spend alot of money on this stuff no? i find the stuff on chainsaw video a bit overpriced.

  • Where can i get "traces of death"

  • Should be available from Amazon

  • i'm collecting all the old nasties too and have got up as far as HOUSE BY THE CEMETARY. am missing DELIRIUM,DEVIL HUNTER,DON'T GO NEAR THE PARK,EXPOSE,FROZEN SCREAM,:( i got the same ABSURD vhs rip for about a 5iver on ebay!i notice you left out CANNIBAL TERROR which is utter pants but included on the list i'm going by

  • Lol hey DarkAngel182,did you notice that in the third film you said Blood Feast instead of Blood Rites?

  • Well I'll be damned, your right. My bad!

  • Yep lol its cool.

I love these videos btw, keep em coming.

I am starting to collect the video nastys as well.

  • BLOOD FEAST from 1963! H G Lewis's best is THE GORE GORE GIRLS (1970). BLOODY MOON at least had some nice gore, so a better Jess Franco Z-grade effort. Andy Milligan is another director to stay way from (GHASTLY ONES). What was the DPP thinking! BLOOD FEAST and GHASTLY ONES the only ones I don't have from this vid. Thought CANNIBAL MAN was quite interesting, although certainly not nasty. CONTAMINATION is a 15 now, amazing. Even more amazing it's DTS! Onto part 3 . .

  • Contamination is a guilty pleasure like Xtro with a similar concept. Dead and Buried is cool. Need to still get The Burning. Isn't Contamination the only Video Nasty to have a certification below 18?

  • Possibly, not sure.

  • Xtro is a 15 as well, although it's fairly recent, so it probably doesn't appear on any DVD release.

  • The new release of The Funhouse is 15.
