There are some great lifters there besides Kurlovich and Pisarenko. Sergey Didyk... Mosibit... Stolyarov... Vladimir Marchuk -nicknamed "Russian Paul Anderson", he was the first man in the world to cj 260 kg and showed insane results in squats...
Awesome job buddy, did you recently get this footage? I would love to see more great lifting from this time period or newer stuff if you got? Thank you
Yes, Taranenko competed in the heavyweight (110kg) at the 1983 Spartakiad in Moscow. I think it was one of his last competitions in the 110kg class. In the second half of the 1980s, he moved on to the super heavyweights and became one of the best supers in the history. He won his last medal at the Europeans when he was 40!
The biggest official cj ever was 266KG. It was a world record set in Canberra in 1988. There is no footage of 270KG cleaned and jerked in competitions by anyone because it was never done so far.
Oh right, ye i thought that it had been done someone said i saw the 266 FANTASTIC !!! yes unofficially i heard Rezazadeh managed 275 kg but i have doubts of that :P what do you think?
Whatever was lifted in training is not counted :-) Besides, Rezazadeh has retired. If Mathias Steiner keeps progressing like he did in 2008, perhaps 270 kg will be lifted overhead soon. Have you seen the footage of Taranenko with all-time cj wr of 266kg in 1988? It looks totally insane, almost scary to watch :-)
Thanks for this video! I'm sure Steiner will break the current WR, but maybe not 270. We might have to wait until London to see all big guys in 100% form and 100% motivated again. Steiner wouldn't have lifted that 258kg if it wasn't about the Olympic gold.
yo that triple bounce on close to 260k was insane.
