Engineering is a derivative function of industry. Britain used to have a massive empire remember? All that engineering was a derivative function of the wealth that that empire secured. Unless the UK reconquers it's lost colonies, it will never again be an engineering hotbed.

Look to China for the immediate future of enigneering. Although they are filthy communists, so they have little long-term future.

we're not that small, but you do have a point, Britain used to be a nation of engineers and inventors, I want that Britain back again.

we don't need all of our companies to our selves.. Just the good ones Like Jaguar & Aston Martin, vauxhall & mg/rover can piss off, we could sell those to the Yanks! :D
