  • Yuan Yuan Tan...with the long dark hair...legs that go on for miles...that delicate face with such a reserved expression but goodness knows how many things are going on underneath...this girl haunts my dreams!

  • she's so... skinny!! but this is beautiful!

  • Not to seem ungrateful for the footage, but this really needs to be posted in 1080P and shot with at least an HDSLR.

  • Oops. Yes of course you are correct. My apologies. I was writing in haste.

  • Music is Spiegel Im Spiegel, from the motion picture Elegy.

  • @LaviniaBailerina Well no, that's like saying Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings is from the motion picture Platoon, without mentioning Samuel Barber.

Spiegel Im Spiegel is by the Estonian composer Arvo Pärt.

  • This was so beautiful and I love the setting which goes perfectly with the dance:) and does anybody know what song this is? I can't seem to find it......

  • woah....Yuan Yuan was already one of my heros but, oh my god....this is probably the most beautiful thing I've ever seen...

  • this music (and choreography!) is just great

  • beautiful

  • it seems like this was how this dance was meant to be performed

  • pnb, can we please get a setup like this on our wharves? you could set up heat lamps!!!

  • so beautiful

  • This is just the most beautiful thing. It is perfectly set and perfectly timed in the program.

What i love about this is: if it were on a stage, it would not mean as much because when they would turn around they would just be facing the back of the stage. here, they turn and there is the ocean and the setting sun. often throughout the piece, the wind would catch her hair and everything became so real. in this setting, i believed everything in this dance.

  • This is very pretty, but I'm really confused by how the light keeps changing. Did they perform this more than once and then have the scenes spliced together? One moment it's all sunsety, and the next (from what appears to be the same angle), it appears to be early afternoon. Can someone please explain this? I'm so confused!

Also, I love Yuan Yuan's dancing regardless of trippy light changes.

  • @marszenka it's just the angle of the camera's! Done ate the same time :)

  • that would be at...not ate lol

  • Stunning and awesomely breathtaking.

  • its so beautiful, its like your going to cry at the end.

  • yeah, the filming is so nice. i kind of want yuan yuan to go into acting when she retires from dance (which sadly might happen in the next few years). ;( she is so amazing at acting in her dancing.

  • yuan yuan tan is one of the most amazing dancers in the world! i wish she would do juliet or swan lake again. :( she is so much better than the new principals at the SFBallet! sometimes I feel like these modern pieces don't really showcase her amazing acting ability.

  • because sometimes there are no words...

  • This is the most beautiful thing i have ever seen in my entire life! It is absolutely perfect! Every time i watch it i get an overwhelming feeling inside.

  • Can someone say the title of the song? please??

  • @balletdancerad It's Spiegel im Spiegel by Arvo Paert

  • I saw this performed by the Australian Ballet on Saturday. It brought me to tears. Beautiful.

  • poor

  • chris never fails <3 <3

  • I never knew something so simple as transitioning from a flexed foot to a pointed foot could be so moving...

  • Gorgeous! Absolutely breathtaking. I can't believe how beautifully choreographed this is. They work together so well, and both have such fantastic control over their bodies. Stunning. I will watch this over and over.

  • the performance of this is fabulous

  • wow how skinny can a person get without being anorexic!!!!

  • @dolledupBB Easily. Train to be a professional ballet dancer from a very early age. She looks thin, to be sure, almost scrawny, but look closely. Look how finely trained her musculature is. Her body is flexible, very well toned and very, very strong. Anoxerics don’t look like that and certainly don’t even have enough strength to remain standing up, never mind dance.

  • Wow

  • this girl needs a sandwich

  • @luminzcircus

'this girl' is a professional who must take great care of her body to maintain the level of athletic and artistic performance that she does. if she weren't healthy and working at her peak, you'd be able to tell. but hey, you know better than her. it's just her body...

  • @luminzcircus Actually, she probably doesn’t. If she’s like all the ballet dancers I’ve known, she has a healthy appetite and eats a lot. The difference is, she eats a lot of the right, healthy things. No body can stand up to the physical demands of ballet without being fed properly and being properly conditioned. It IS an athletic endeavour.

  • WHAT IS THIS MUSIC? what's the name!! i love it!!

  • shes so skinny she might just disappear. beautiful piece.

  • 07:00-07:03 = B R E A T H T A K I N G ! ! !

  • graceful~!

  • It is better to look at this piece with nature than the stage. The sensitivity and mature dancing of these dancers wiith the nature is piece of highly profound poetic piece. Yuan Yuan Tan is truly a very beautiful dancer with great artistry.

  • Music is Spiegel Im Spiegel, from the album Alina, by Arvo Part. And while I agree that this is a lovely piece, it's the type of piece - the using the type of music - that many modern choreographers have been doing for a couple of decades. I applaud Christopher. But I do think some of the commenters need to get out a little more and see more diversity of dance.

  • Indeed, it is the most beautiful dance I've ever seen! Both dancers are amazing! She flows with the music .... and his movements are divine!

  • what a treat to see such beautiful choreography ~ in flat shoes :)

  • so beautiful! thanks for posting!

  • Why did it have to stop as it was so fantastic? Naturally, both dancers were stunning and so was Wheeldon's choreography. As for the music - I loved it. What was it?

Thank you, thank you so very much for posting this. Beautiful.

  • @balletnut The song is form Arvo Part - "Spiegel im Spiegel'
