@rxp1019 i highly doubt the Knicks would have won even with Ewing at full strength. the Spurs had a really great chemistry, had 2 dominant big men in Robinson and Duncan, and had a lot of experienced, and battle tested veterans, not to mention they went on to win 3 more titles, so it was no fluke, plus the Spurs pretty much dismantled teams to get to the Finals. the Knicks had a great run, but in the end, the Spurs had a better team anyway you put it, Ewing or not.

Well that's true. But as I said, they are in New York, one of the biggest market. It should have been easier for the to get great players compared to San Antonio, Dallas or Phoenix. Players come to a team not only because of the market but also because how they see their chances to grow, to play championship level.

And I don't disagree...the current woes however are mostly the result of a couple bad years that wrecked the team for the last decade...trading Patrick Ewing for a guard which they didn't need instead of letting his contract expire was a bad move but they could have recovered... incompetence of Isiah Thomas led the team to this point...as soon as they got rid of Isiah the team started improving...Walsh is a good GM and D'Antoni is a good coach...they'll continue to improve in the coming years

What I mean by "they shouldn't have got past the first round" is the Heat won the first series. If the second half of Game 5 had been officiated properly, the Heat would've had a 12-15 point lead in the late 4th instead of 1. Houston made a great shot but he shouldn't have had the chance. I won't deny that the '99 Knicks were a great story, but the truth is, the Heat won that Game 5. And if that happened as it should have, this team wouldn't be any more remembered than most 8 seeds.

This team was a joke. People act like the '99 Knicks were some great underdog but they shouldn't have even got past the first round. Don't get me wrong, Houston made a great shot against Miami, but there was some of the worst calls I've ever seen against the Heat earlier in that second half which probably costed them a good 7-10 points and gave the Knicks 5-7 points.
