@championcole This is my favorite Minnie Riperton album, although I love all of them. She was a rare talent, a gorgeous, unparalled voice. Interestingly enough, it was my 30 year old daughter who drew my attention to Rotary Connection, and I realized that I heard their music and Minnie's voice on those very late night radio shows that played entire cuts from albums back in the early 70s. Good Lord, where can you hear 10-20 minutes of uninterrupted, compelling music on the radio these days?

Minnie was just AMAZING! If you've ever watched her sing live , you'll see that the note just seems to slip right out of her mouth with the greatest ease. And beyond hitting the note, she can also manipulate/ sing in it... something that Mariah and a lot of the women of this new generation of singers just can't seem to manage. Minnie was ... Minnie was not a lazy singer. Mariah has been a LAZY singer since '97 to tell you the truth. Mariah can never sing this raw and true to a song. She was a much better singer from 1990-1994 when she was just hungry. Now she is banking on sex appeal and current trends of songs to be successful. I like some of the current stuff but for the most part Mariah has become lazy on her songs. Minnie will always be an icon for black female singers to sing at a standard. Minnie's songs are timeless.
