Oh my gosh. I wish Huckabee hadn't lied about it being a cross, because now the press and whatever are all having field days, even though, what's the problem with having a cross in the background? It's a Christian commercial. And why are press dimeaning Christianity all the time? They respect Judaism and Muslim and stuff... why is Christianity always being put down when it's about hope and salvation and love?

Huckabee is a former Pastor, acknowledged Christian if he had meant to have a cross he would have had a cross. I believe it happened due to light positioning. They obviously wanted the cross to be floating behind him. it's too starkly contrasted to be unintentional. The receding shadows of the inset shelves make it seem cooincidental, but it's not.

I am not sure if I believe in God anymore; Bush says he talks to God while dealing out death to humanity for the last six years, as good Christians cheer him on! Don't get me wrong. That was really bad. I couldn't imagine doing such a thing. Also, the guy was 17 years old at the time. It's not as if this happened yesterday. We all do bad things in life. If everyone's thoughts or actions were put on display for everyone to see, they might be criticizing you as well.

You're right they would critisize me, and I DO have things I'm ashamed of. I've never done something like THAT though, and at 17 one does have the capacity to know right and wrong.
Many psychologists have stated that actions such as this are highly symptomatic of a sick mind. I hope I'm wrong, and probably am.
Either way, I wouldn't hold Huckabee responsible for the 'sins' of the son. I don't think his son's actions have too much to bear upon the arguement about the presidency.

BTW, here in Berlin there's an unintentional floating cross on the GDR's most prominent building, the "Fernsehturm". Up on top, there's a glass-paned globe and in the sun you see a flaming cross on it. I once heard that the communist regime was really upset about it...

In principal I agree with you. It's a difficult thing to do; this seperation of C&S. If someones principals and life are guided by a faith in a god then you really can't seperate the two because the person will always be govrned by those 'religeous' principals.
There in lies the fly in the ointment. I don't remember Bush Jr being overly religeous on his first campaign, but we know he talked to god for Iraq.
