I have a 400ex that will smoke a stock 450's ass with the right sprocket. I've got a sprocket for acceleration on it but all i need to do is change to my top end sprocket.

My 426 with cams, cdi box, moded air box, exhaust, and 450 carb just to name a few things. Will beat a stock 450 easy..it's the same horse power but the piston is lighter and higher compression so it actually revs out quicker. If you want a good woods bike get a 400 and widen it, throw some 450 shocks on it and it will handle like a dream.

Yamaha makes faster dirt bikes but honda's you can have forever.

@MrSweetleaf92 if 70s fast for you, but you do 70 everyday back and forth from work. a banshee will do 85 stock no problem. i just dont see the point in a renegade i would get a outlander before the renegade at least put racks on a utiltiy quad. i would never own a utility bike. the closest thing i would have to a utility quad wise would be a 700xx, other tahn that i woudl jet get a side by side, but thats why they make all different kinds cause every1 likes different things

i have a 2007 400ex and i love it and if u put a money into the 400ex u can make it run with a 450r my 400ex will tap out on the road at 73 mph all stock but i have been told that is a little bit faster than other 400ex's tho they normally run about 68 it just depends on your four wheeler and im saying the 450r would run around 80-85 correct me if im wrong

for trail riding the 400 is better. the 450 definitely has a lot more power and is faster, but can be hard to ride in the woods. if u get a 400 and put a little money in it u will have a great 4wheeler but it still won't be as fast as a stock 450r.

read some articles, do your self a favor, and don't waste your money on a ds. They are slow, and if you want to mod them, they are hard to work on. you have to remove the rear shock to mod the exhaust.

the 450r is more of a drag quad...

shorter stroke, higher rpm, loss of low end torque. If you ride trails, the 400ex will smoke a 450r. 400ex with a pipe, intake, jet and cam will match a 450r. if you ride trails, get a 400ex. If you can ride with the throttle open most of the time, go for the 450. I say get the 400 and a big bore kit... it will smoke any 450 out there.
