Hi, i'm thinking about purchasing this mixer but i need to know if the direct outs are pre or post eq? as in my direct out will go straight out to my recorder and they need to have eq on. hope this makes sense!
@midasvanhessche Yeah you could do. The USB port means you can use it with various home recording studio, although you won't be able to get multi track recording.
I have used this desk before. I love analog boards. I use a Yamaha ls9-32 and I don't like the fact that you can only see the settings for one channel at a time. Also I am not a big fan of having the Master controls in the middle of the board, but I suppose that makes it easier for setting up Matrixes on the right. I had my school's music department by a Soundcraft MFXi and I have to say that that is my favorite board. Its a 20 channel board and only half the size and weight of that one.
I just do local stuff [no touring] I've got JBL2-SRX 722s 2-728s and 2-718s and two M-pro 418's/MRX 515s for smaller club stuff.Right now I'm torn between this and the Mackie Onyx 24.4.Any suggestions on these and other mixers in about the same price range?
@gunnyranger2 If you got the money, I'd probably go with this. I've been comparing this to Mackie Onyx & VLZ3, and the A&H's are VERY well known for reliability & features. If I get the cash I'm definitely going with the 436.
Fair point - however I had to use it in a school situation & wasn't familiar with everything. My experience has been with 8 channel analogue mixers. There aren't many demos online so if have a bit of expertise, I am sure that some people might be interested.
What I need a bit more experience on is using the eq to best effect to minimise feedback.
@gunnyranger2 yeah, its a "lower end" large format mixers that Allen and Heath make. Its not something that you would see professional bands or touring companies using (not that Im saying its a bad mixer). This makes it an easy mixer to use, with some more pro features
A bit disappointing, I was hoping that you would show us how to use it! You have read the labels on the controls but a viewer would need to know all the jargon to start with. Why not focus on a part of th desk and demonstrate it?
@nolly53 I had thought about doing that, but I thought that if someone was buying a desk of this size and value that they would have a basic grasp of how to work a mixer and know the jargon. This video was to show the features it has and the layout

@midasvanhessche
yes.. I wouldn't even bother with the USB though..
As long as you have a multi input output interface, this desk has direct outs.. so it's fine for studios
