FYI That computer overheats and melts the motherboard, i've found that it's best to keep it in the clamshell mode (to keep cool) and on a cooling pad as well and figure out a way to draw on the screen in clamshell..took me two motherboards to figure it out...i wish i knew that before hand.
hey there, um im kinda a noob at this whole tablet thing and i was wondering if you can draw like you r on a screen directly like that in the beginning of the vid with a tablet PC or if you can do that if you just have a graphic tablet plugged into a computer.
Well, if you have a tablet PC, you can draw directly on the screen. If you don't have a tablet PC you can't draw on the screen, you will have to draw on the USB tablet and watch the effects on the computer screen.
You know..Tablet PCs are good, but I have found that they are not implemented very well yet. So I think that just using a USB tablet and looking on the screen is easier. The USB tablets you can buy let you choose more pressure sensitivity than the ones that normally come on tablet PCs, so it feels more natural.
I hope at some point they will make the tablet PCs a bit better.
I just got a tablet and really happy you had this video for me to help me start drawing!! If you can recommend any other vids for Photoshop freehand drawing plz let me know. Thanks!!
In this case Onezumi was actually resting the tablet on her lap and had it converted into tablet mode (where you flip the screen around and cover the keyboard area) and had a USB keyboard attached.
Thanks, we plan on finally doing more soon so check back in the next few weeks. At the very least Onezumi will be doing her personal video blogs in the next week or so.
For other tutorials we will be using a screen capture tool, for this one it was supposed to show the Tablet PC being used which can only be done with a camera.
Unfortunately they don't sell that model anymore. The one used in the video is the Toshiba Tecra M4 with 64mb Nvidia video card. Most tablet PCs now seem to only come with integrated graphics (not a dedicated card like this model) and have lowered performance for 3d applications and overall speed. If you want one see if Toshiba has one with an Nvidia or ATI graphics card option (it changes all the time so it's hard to say if they do or don't have one at the moment).
Oh, well. Thanks for your reply. It's because i like to draw myself, and i thought it would be cool to do it on one of those. So, i was just wondering. :-) But by the way, you are a very skilled comic drawer.
Check ebay. I picked up a Toshiba M4 to replace my Wacom for $600 and it came with a Geforce 6600w/128mb too. Awesome All around Laptop. Average Ebay price is around $500-$600. Grab one before they are all gone for good.

Mine is still working..but I have to tell you that I did not use it for very long. Now I just use it sometimes, so it did not get heavy usage.

ok thank you for answering my question! ok, last question: is it hard to watch the effects on the screen when you have a USB tablet?

No problem! I love to help out! :D

Oh okay, lol. For some reason I was thinking you had your tablet standing vertically like a flatscreen monitor.
Great Tutorial Btw.

Hi, just wondering how you are standing your Toshiba M4 like in the Video. Are you using a special stand?
RustyNinja 4 years ago
I just balance it on my lap. :)

very helpful. Thanks... I'm starting to consider a tablet PC. I've been using a Wacom Intuos3 for a while now and I like it alot.

I have an Intuous 2 and like it as well. Honestly,...I use it more than the tablet PC these days!

Could you get a screen capture tool? That'd eliminate having to use a video camera. And the video will be MUCH easier to see... Just a suggestion
