thats a good point. So why did the SA gov allow/give the ANC's political wing, political recognition? maybe such a tactic could work in Israel? I'm guessing money was involved somewhere. Which again is a long shit considering the US will never stop giving money to them unless they have a radically different president, eg, someone like Ron Paul. I think it takes 'votes' For the US or us to really get our government to do anything, it takes us all to vote in an opposition that is vocal about. If they're going to do anything about it, thats another thing. We had thousands of marches for the Iraq war which did nothing, add to that our detention centres and terrible refugee treatment; again nothing. Government only understands power and money. Both Gaza and Israel are in the wrong over this. Israel can't be solely blamed any more than Gaza can.
It is more arguable that Israel started the conflict due to encroachment into Gaza with the use of the army but Hamas responded in a way which was obviously going to provoke Israel and so have as much blood on their hands as much as Israel does
The only positive thing that can be said about the situation is that it may help with peace in the rest of the middle east when this conflict is over

One of the main reasons for the assault, apart from Palestinian Duck Shooting, was to destroy Gaza's civillian infrastructure. The excuse being that it's Hamas-controlled.. but since Hamas is the democratically elected authority in the strip, Israel regards it as fair game.

You should go get a fact check. Israel and Gaza had a ceasefire agreement that was honoured by Hamas. However, on November 4th, Israel broke the ceasefire with an incursion into Gaza, leaving 10 Palestinians dead.

And let's be clear about this.. part of the ceasefire agreement was to open the borders to allow medical supplies and humanitarian aid into Gaza. Israel NEVER honoured that part of the ceasefire agreement at any point during the ceasefire. Israel not only BROKE the agreement, it never BEGAN to honour the agreement.
