i love your channel. I was just wondering how long this popcorn will store for? I am planning on making it for Christmas, and wondered if it will last up to 2 weeks in a container? thank you!
Betty I made this for my husband today and it brought back his childhood memories (added peanuts to it), but wow this is so delicious, hhahaha he can't stop eating it, even though it hasn't even cooled yet...thank you so much! muah!
I've tried this recipe twice and the first time I did it I didn't stir it the while time but the second time I did and the caramel topping still came out gritty, is this normal? Is there any way to get it to not be gritty, but I do love this recipe so simple and it taste great.
@Lauren14709 It shouldn't be gritty. You may have cooked it too fast. Try a lower heat, and stir constantly for the complete boiling time. You may have to beat it a little longer for it to have the right consistency to pour over your popcorn.
@Ramziakhan1000 I have never tried it with white sugar, so I'm reluctant to say it would be successful. Maybe someone reading this has tried white sugar and will respond. Thanks for commenting!
@Ramziakhan1000 hi, white sugar works just as well as brown sugar =)
i always use white sugar caramel when coating popcorn. just be careful to watch the sugar as white sugar tends to burn easier if you're not careful with the watching. at least for me =) Hope this helps.
can you make an egg-sandwich ? I have been dying to learn this recipe with a sunny side up egg on to piece of toast covered in butter! Please reply. thanks betty!
hi there Betty my sister and i have whipped up this recipe twice now we as well as the people we have served it to love it!! we all call it 'the Betty popcorn" it was so easy to follow your video plus your accent is so neat :D thank you sooo very much :)
@shier93 Yes, in this recipe it is. The baking soda has a chemical reaction with the other ingredients that is necessary for the coating to set up like it should.
thanks alot Betty, Ive been looking for this recipe because i love eating salty popcorn mixed with the caramel ones :D it just makes me drool all over lol. Thank you so much, greetings and warm wished from Dubai ;).
oh ok, i thought the baking powder was to keep it longer.
i made carmel popcorn before but i never use baking powder and i did not bake it either. I just melt the sugar (brown) until it gets sticky and pour it on the popcorn and after a while it gets hard.
Made it... loved it, got an idea from it. didnt have any puffed wheat left so i used my puffed wheat cake recipe and used popcorn insted. Thanks for the idea :P
your lucky betty ! you have a calm inviroment around you, popcorn machine next to tv n stuff, i wish i were you, i mean in my family, its noisy and they never let me relax, :(
neat stuff, we use lecithin and water instead of milk and cooking oil. coating it with dark and white chocolate makes it pretty amazing also :p vicswichita . com
as soon as you add the baking soda stir really quick and add it to the popcorn tossing it with two spatulas covered with non stick cooking spray the key to making a good caramel corn is to work fast dont wait around like she does well i hope i helped
Hey Betty. I made this twice. First time I didn't do it well. Second time was an improvement. I love the recipe because it's simple and tasty but I keep having the same issue. It looks like caramel when I pour it on the popcorn but then when it cools, I start tasting the sugar granules again. I am afraid Im going to burn the caramel when cooking it so Im careful. I thought I did it right today. It looked exactly like caramel. Any advice?
The only thing I can think of is that you're expecting a different consistency of caramel than this recipe provides. This caramel is a bit sugary, and is appropriate for covering nuts or popcorn, but it is not meant to be eaten as caramel candy. Thanks for your question!
The only thing I can think of is that it has boiled too long or at too high a heat, or that too much time passed before putting on the popcorn. It should come out better than that!
i have one they are better for you than microwave popcorn and pretty cheap go to walmart and you can get a good one for a reasonable price hope this helped ~nick
So I made this tonight when I was watching a movie and the caramel was DELICIOUS. My grandmother is such a picky and healthy eater and even she couldn't stop nibbling on them haha.
Truly my husband was just sitting down to watch that, and he hasn't gotten a chance to watch it yet! We'll try it this weekend! Thanks for commenting!
wow Betty, I used to work for the company that manufactures your popcorn machine. Depending on what year you bought it, I just might have made it! Your popcorn looks great!
I will have some not-so-naughty popcorn up next! I'm not familiar with Butterkist Popcorn, but, by the name, it probably is similar! Thanks for commenting, Linda!
Popcorn machines are fun to have! And popcorn can be a healthy treat! You can even use some of my toppings and just put them on sparingly, and its healthier than a typical dessert! Thanks for your comment!
You said you could store it for a bit, would you say about a week? I was thinking this would probably make a nice gift for people I don't normally give gifts to for the holiday season coming up. :]

Their theater room is in the basement, to go upstairs where the kitchen is, means the kitchen is on the main floor. Unless that is still unusual for you and you already understood what she meant. :p

Thanks for that. No i can kind of work out that the kitchen must be upstairs, but was just checking because its quite strange for me to think of it like that because here in England we dont really have rooms in basements, theyare usually kept for storage. Hey Betty. I made this twice. First time I didn't do it well. Second time was an improvement. I love the recipe because it's simple and tasty but I keep having the same issue.
