  • God he's sexy

  • "i dont even know were i come from anymore" such a sad statement dont lose yer identity ya cunt

  • Nearly every state n america has a diff accent. I'm from Texas and when I went to South Carolina non-stop ppl would say whoa, I love ur accent are u from Texas? U can really tell if u compare two ppl from diff places. Like I would sound completly diff from someone n North Dakota. Lol

  • Tons of u ppl r such jerks, like for real what does it matter how thick is accent may or may not be. Is it killing u? I don't think so, so everybody needs to get over yourself.

  • m8 stick tae yer accent women will no you got a big cock when they here your scots accent am a right?

  • I wish I could switch from two accents in the same sentence! (I COULD but I fail at accents so it would just sound like gibberish)

  • he sounds like mike the situation

  • This isn't unusual for Scots who have lived in Canada or the US for some time - they tend to lose much of their accents - but you can hear the traces that remain, if you listen carefully. Just a simple process of adaptation and enculturation, not an attempt to sound 'American' on Gerard Butler's part. Listen to talk show host Craig Ferguson (he's Scots as well), and you'll see that he has lost his accent too, but traces that belie his origins are still audible.

  • @SuperTekZone so basically he's like Madonna with her fake english accent then?

  • is he not proud to be scottish? wheres his accent gone?

  • that was pretty good, not perfect but pretty good

  • Calm yourselves, it is natural to catch accents from what place you live in. Go to Scotland, youll slowly get an accent

  • I am from Scotland but don't sound Scottish. Funny how lots of people think that there is only one Scottish accent, there is about 5 or 6 accents in Scotland. Glasgow, Edinburgh, Inverness, Highland, Aberdeen and Royal Deside - All different.

  • sounds as scottish as spray on cheese

  • still sound spretty scottish

  • Scottish is pretty much all gone!!!! :-O

  • Gerard, mate, Hollywood is killing you.

    Don't turn American, mate.

  • Somebody shoot this prick

  • @devilsandqueens Strange request but I laughed anyway XD

  • @MrCheesyBaconBits This dickhead likes the sound of his voice.

  • It's amazing how Gerald is going for Connery as in always using his Scottish accent, wether he was playing a Greek King or an American gangster.

I have no idea why people think that it's somehow wrong for an actor to be required to change his accent based on his fucking role. That's what the guy gets paid for.

  • i dont know why everyone is saying he sounds american..... think for a second about an american accent....... Does he actually sound like that? no he doesnt. Maybe he's just naturally picked up a bit of the accent. MY cousin moved to london and se was scottish before she moved and now she speaks like shes from there, but you can tell shes scottish aswell. It just depends on the words the person says.

  • @Megaalexa92 Or maybe he's northern? So he doesnt have such a broad accent like those from the south or people who speak doric?

  • @AFC1903RULEEEE He's from Paisley. He would naturally have a broad Scottish accent, heck he used to have a very pronouced Scottish accent.

  • he speak a perfect american accent these days :(

  • He sounds better with an American accent.

    He sounds more mainly.

  • @1Adr1an6 mainly?? u have to be kidding me lol, american accents are plain to me, this accent is hot as hell

  • I didn't hear any Scottish accent :(

I prefer James McAvoy's Scottish accent much more :)

  • @marmus2901 his accent is so hot though!

  • @marmus2901 definatly was...im scottish...jsut a few twangs of american but def a glasgow boy

  • @marmus2901 scottish accents are different. im from perth, scotland and we sound nothing like glaswegians. Our accents are more propper and posh apparently. If your from dundee your dundonian. theres all types of ways scottish people speak. It depends how strong the accent is and where your from. Theres propper scotish that probebly some of you wouldny understand lol :)

  • His accent annoys me because it's like he TRYING to sound American. C'mon mun stick tae your scottish accent. :)

  • @monthenmaw lol, as an american who picked up an English accent (though it's mixed Lancashire and Kentish with a touch of Cornish due to where I lived) I know it's hard to control an accent. Mine changed without me trying, but for the life of me I can't use my native Californian accent if I try. Poor guy, getting stuck in that awkward american.....

  • @monthenmaw he does it because that is what people want in the film industry he has stated it specifically that he practices it.

  • Oh.. so many Yanks moaning.... like there are no americans pretend to be Scot... Irish.. or something else? WTF does.. im 3rd geneation Irsh mean really? In that case im 19th generation viking.... good luck to the man.

  • @swp4445 "WTF does.. im 3rd geneation Irsh mean really?" Um...I think it means that they're 3rd generation Irish. I'm no expert though.

"In that case im 19th generation viking"

You probably are. The Vikings invaded many parts of the British Isles. If you want to say that it's fine with me. I'm certainly not going to have a hissy fit about it.

  • HALF AMERICAN AND EEEEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

  • I can' stand people who go some were fur a fortnight, then they start talkin like the local's.

The scottish accent is one of the strongest, you dont loose it.

Mr Butler is trying to hide his accent, shame on him...

  • @MrBigjim1888 He hasn't been in America for a fortnight, he's been over there working and making a career for himself for quite a while now. I mean, he can't exactly roll up with a Scottish accent to play the part of an American, can he? It's called method acting, and well done to him for being committed enough to change himself for his work.

  • yer fae Paisley, Butler - ye didnae speak like that when you were at StM & StM's

    Daft wannabe yankie twat

  • @NorthernSoulGer I agree , he is nothing but a wannabe American.

  • @NorthernSoulGer He probably does it so people can understand him.. Do you really blame him? Professionally I would do whatever would make it easiest to understand me.. Plus constantly doing fake accents & working with voice coaches would probably screw me up & my natural accent up a bit.. I don't think he is a Yankee wannabe. Hollywood is just where the money is.. So why not?

  • lol hes from paisley scotlands shittest town

  • Variety is the spice of life. From a Scot.

  • Scottish accents are so sexy

  • @laurasking

    Braw!

  • @laurasking oh my gewdness yes they are ... and this guys is gergous

  • @laurasking

the Scots accent is indeed sexy...it's a pity Gerard Butler lost his a few years ago. Is he related to Lulu? ;-)

  • @jimaldo64 nope he's related to an idiot... tha's why he is an idiot.

Listen to the drivel he says.

    Sad.

  • why's it turning american ya big poofter!

  • and this scottish accent is shite cos he sounds quite american

  • im afraid it's not about being used to the accent because i hate american accents too and so do most people lol

  • some one tell me cause im from Canada, do we have an accent, and im not talking about the Eastern coast because i know they have one but is the rest kind of like the US?

  • @curtisisadog yes you have an accent eh :P

  • @curtisisadog haha..i am an american with a close friend from nova scotia...she def has an accent to me, but what boggles my mind is that I have an accent to her, and funny when we talk on the phone, i find myself sounding like her...but wait..i suck at geography, is nova scotia considered the eastern coast kind?? ha ha..but yeah, no as obvious to me as a scott or britt but def an accent..and a cool one....:)

  • @47jenken Yeah it is considered part of the East Coast, I am from around the Toronto area (Southern Ontario), and I think our accent would be similar to states like Michigan and New York, but i'm not quite sure... But I guess if you don't hear an accent from others, that means you sound like them.

  • @47jenken Nova Scotia is about as Far East as you can go on the North American Continent without being on an island.

  • i wish i was irish, but with a scottish accent. love irish people and love the scottish accent. sure, i'm from norway, so i have an accent, but it sucks...:/

  • @Sk8rckychick I thought most american has no accent

  • English & Scottish accents r both cool :)

  • yeah some american accents are boring unless from south and new york i agree and i am scottish but the strongest accent is scottish its sooooo deep voice and brawwddd haha

  • butler ya twat, why are you turning american? scottish and american accents should never be mixed.

  • arsehole

  • My uncle has lived in london for years and still has a strong scottish accent.so why has gerard butler almost lost his?Pathetic man.Get back to scotland gerard and rediscover your real accent!

  • @jaysea32

Of course it's easy to keep your accent when you don't have to speak in another one. Gerry has to sound American all the time in films, so that's not a fair comparison.

  • fucking sell out big poofter !!!

  • im dead sad now... he's lost our accent he sounds so american >:|

  • @marioissocoollike Probably because he has to hang around Americans all the time. I bet it gets thicker when he is home. Americans love his accent dearly, it sounds wonderful to us.

  • he hasn't lost his accent. he has to pronounce his words better, speak clearly for people to understand him.

  • Kylie Monque has a real English Accent now.

  • wtf? its like half american accent

  • @scotland1989able true lol

  • @scotland1989able

i bet you have the complete one!

  • @ownage22guy22 obviously. born in scotland lived here all my life. why wouldnt i?

  • @scotland1989able

    yeah i know

  • @ownage22guy22 wtf?

  • @scotland1989able

    yeah ,i knew it !

  • @scotland1989able he really does have the most American accent for a Scottish person I've ever heard...next to Craig Ferguson that is!

  • @cado3388 craig ferguson is a phoneyand no even funny,he's not that proud of his heritage at all. I think he's always reaching for a laugh and it don't come off too well.

  • @scotland1989able He's said that he's losing his native acccent because he takes so many roles that require american accent

  • @PatrickJames1979 oh right. he would only have to move back to scotland for a couple of month and it would be back to normal

  • He sounds like hes from Edinburgh not Paisley.

  • Comment removed

  • NO GERRAD!!! yer fae paisley mate, how can ye loose the accent :(:(:(:(:(

  • @missnickjbro if he went back to Paisley (or anywhere in Glasgow really...) with that accent he'd get his old one beaten back into him pronto!

  • @cado3388 Mate it's awe put on,av been our here fur 24 yrs longer than he his, in ma accents no changed even a wee bit.........its called playin tae the crowd.

  • wow his accent is almost gone.

  • My accentt sounds like his :( except I dnt sound like a guy... Evry1 says thts a bad thinggg aha... is itt???

  • THIS IS SPARTAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!

  • Noooo, where's your pretty accent?!!?! Come back to Scotland for a while, we'll sort you out.

  • am scottish :) a love the accent and 2 let yous all know we dont sound like butler lol he's just went hollywood in the head ! BUTLER DROP THE ACT M8 ITS NOT WORKING OUT FOR U :)

  • hes from Paisley!!, thats where hes from :L

  • his accent is awful now. you only go like this if you want to and dont really like your original accent like butler has said before. your accent def changes but not to this extent . he also seems really weird in this interview, maybe just excited just like hes on something.

  • omg! im scottish and i want an american accent scottish sound really horrible and we dont pronounce things right

  • @AmieLo4 we should swap then lol i love the scottish accent i have an american southern accent and i hate it sometimes trust me alot of people in america dont pronounce things correctly either or everyone has their own way of saying something and it kind of varies from state to state

  • @AmieLo4 are you joking? the americans love our accent, its the americans that canny pronounce anything right!

  • his accent isnt a pure scottish accent , what i mean by tht is hes been influenced by americans and its starting to show in the way he talks .

i was born and raised in Glasgow, scotland . his accent isnt very scottish tae me .

  • Listen to his accent closely at the start, when he says story, it's starting to sound more and more American. his pronounciation has an American twang to it, so it's not entirely Scottish, close though, and yes, he was born in Paisley. I have Irish heritage, but am Scottish, in fact many Scots with Irish Heritage, their history of the families over there run straight back to Scotland.

  • yeah he's really Irish. He said so himself. His family is from a little town in Ireland, but he was born and raised in Scotland.

  • @NYLeo90 If he was born and raised in Scottish, I think that makes him Scottish. Not Irish.

  • @andymacceltic in scottish? you mean scotland

  • @andymacceltic He's of Irish descent tho.

  • @FunnyJamieMaloney a substantial percentage of people born in scotland are of irish decent. especially those from the west of scotland. hes defos scottish matee

  • Comment removed

  • guys, just fight for his background oO who cares ?

  • @germanteeth he is scottish

  • @weesteven94 some vid say he is irsh, but i'll take your word for it =) i love both irish and scottish accents...it doesn't matter to me.

  • @germanteeth yep he is from the same city as me

  • @weesteven94 paisley is a town tho haha

  • @MattyBhoyNumeroUno Im Fae Paisley =D I Think Its The Biggest Town In Scotland

  • @MattyBhoyNumeroUno lol me too, you'd never think he was though.

  • @germanteeth Scottish you FUCKCOW

  • @jesuswashere0000 =( don't cuss at me please! =)

  • @germanteeth Sorry CUNT

  • @jesuswashere0000 =( Jesus loves you!!!!!!!!!!! =D

  • @germanteeth He is Scottish. He doesnt have an Irish accent. Are you on the wind up?

Mind you,he hardly has a Scottish accent now.It sounds American to me.

  • @jaysea32 okay....what does "on the wind up mean"?..lol....i'm not that good at slang stuff....well regardless whether is is half American or not it's still an awesome accent. :D

  • @germanteeth If someone from the UK asks," are you winding me up?", it's kinda like asking if you're joking, or a prank.

  • @Davination gotcha..thanks... :P

  • @germanteeth No problem. It's like a a joke that causes stress, just to get a good reaction.

  • @Davination lol..i didn't want to cause stress..i just wanted to post a comment that got taken too seriously....my mistake... :)

  • he lived down the road fro me :L:) x

  • Great actor, great movie, but his Irish accent isn't so good.

  • rawr!

  • Do you really think the accents hot? I've had one all my life and never thought it was hot at all.

  • Comment removed

  • Agreed! ---an American

  • yesssss! :D

  • @Sk8rckychick i actually think the accents in the south vary a bit and theres a lot of really interesting american accents. like cajun and creole.

  • @Lotrfan99 I have no idea what those are hahaha :)

I love foreign accents soo much though

  • @Sk8rckychick Maybe in your opinion but I'm proud of my Boston accent. I love my family members accent when I visit them in Ireland but. I'm still very proud of my accent. Your accent describes your character and where your from.

  • @Sk8rckychick its hard to say American accents are so boring since each section of America has their own accents and each state within each section has its own twist on those accents

  • @BeanerOverTheBorder yeah, that is true.

  • @Sk8rckychick thts becuz u r lol

  • @Sk8rckychick scottish accents are pretty cool i have to say, ya know coming from Scotland and everything but i think American accents are cool.

  • @lilstarsrockz Yes they are! well my accent i guess cause i'm so use to having the PA accent that it's just boring to me. I didn't mean ALL american accents are boring :p

  • @Sk8rckychick You can say that again. :P

  • @Sk8rckychick hey we have some interesting accents also. new york, minnesota, southern. you may think we have it boring while foreigners notice them and love them more than theirs :)

  • @hollywoodowl haha i just hate PA accents. nothing unique about them haha :)

  • @Sk8rckychick I find the accents on the east coasts not so boring. North and South.

  • @Sk8rckychick | are you kidding? the old texan accent, the new england coast accent, those insane accents they have all around appalachia, the german-california surfer dude accent, louisiana cajun, louisiana anglo, french savannian, virginian-carolinian, the german-american hoosier accent, the missoura underground-cave-alien accent, utah english, the new york accent, the new jersey accent, and ect..

  • @Sk8rckychick american accents are only boring because we live in america. you fail to realize all the different accents in our country. texas, the south, new york, they all have distinct and beautiful accents.

  • @marymcm09 exactly british accents seem boring to me because im english, whereas, i love texan, bostonian and new york accents

  • @Sk8rckychick

You know the word "american" could stand for anyone from Canada to Uruguay. Mexicans would call themselves "American." Also, there is like 10 or more US accents. They're all boring to you? Are you just a hater of the USA, the country in which you were probably born?

  • @cdmillig Just USA lad.. just USA.

  • It's hot.
