  • The song works perfectly wirth rainymood . com in background :)

  • I have always been conserving water due to the facts that I am on a well and it is the right thing to do. The gas-fracking industry uses millions of gallons of clean water to drill & fracture their gas wells, after which it is a hazardous material. Mad f'n world indeed! Think about that the next time they tell you to conserve water on hot summer days.

  • great job!

  • What a beautiful version... it almost brings tears to my eyes...

  • @XaviNL Only (almost)?

  • I don't get it, why so many dislikes? I really enjoyed listening to this..

  • Not a big Sara Hickman fan, but I think this is the best version of this song. She really gets the point across

  • Thank You Sara!

  • i know her daughter

  • ....So my dad sent me this video? Intresting but I hate being spoiled...DX

  • the girl in the video

  • i know her i used to go to school with her daughters

  • I love this cover too. So nice and vid also.

  • In All Versions In All Covers In All Of My Life , This Songs Touch Deep Inside of My Heart....

  • @FPG8889 So Shut Up and Enjoy the Music.....

  • i probably think tt this is the best version of the song, tt spooky feel, the melancholy in the tune, the inevitable feeling of pity for how the world has changed all subsumed in this perfect rendition of mad world

  • I like it a lot! I think she's an amazing singer, so peaceful sounding :)

And don't get me wrong, I love Gray Jules' version as well!

I love the video's idea on war and chaos vs. peace and love and how it shows that the world is changing so much. :)

  • i cant fine the ringtone on the listed above site :( help ?

  • I get to see her live at ACL 2011

  • nice

  • I feel this so bad right now that I can just scream and I just may do that.

  • Oh... Wow. I did not expect this to sound good. I am totally amazed. Fantastic job!

  • As much as I love the original, I just like how it sounds with a female singing it

  • video is weird.... but i love her voice <3

  • Gary Jules by FAR...no offense Sara...OR Adam, BUT Gary wins. this is HIS song...even though Tears For Fears wrote/performed originally...STILL Gary Jules' song.

  • gotta say, her voice is awesome the video is original and the background music is awesome. we all have opinions, and this cover is tops, imho.

  • Hi! listen to my COVER of MAD WORLD in my channel please! thank you

  • that version is good but the original is better

  • ...this is not good at all, really crappy and generic sounding. Gary Jules is perfect.

  • WTF I SAW HER WITHELMO IT WAS GREAAATT !!!

  • All great songs need a male and female vocals version. Let this be the best female vocals version. Nice job.

  • I think as a vocalist, Sara Hickman exceeds Gary Jules. I mean, she just plain has a better singing voice. But then Adam Lambert came along it's like God personally installed his vocal chords. I can take or leave Lambert's songs when he screams, but he commands my full attention when he applies himself to songs like Mad World, even Time for a Miracle. Don't miss the Wise Guys version of Mad World. That's my silver medal treatment of the song. I love a capella.

  • gary jules version is still the best.

  • This is crap, listen to Gary Jule's version, it's perfect :)

  • Bardzo ładna ballada utworu Mad World zespołu Tears For Fears, można przy niej się zrelaksować a głos Sary z lekką chrypą jest ok!

  • WOW What a great vidio to go along with Mad World.

  • "Hello Teacher, what's my lesson" takes on a whole new meaning when you become the teacher. That's the echo 25 years later.

  • I think this is a Gen X theme song. It gets covered (by another Gen Xer) at every major life transition. As they have aged, the tempo has slowed and the song has deepened, but the notes still apply. In 1982, they were kids. In 2010 they are the parents. Like a generational version of Manheim Steamroller's "Mere Image."

Things change when you're the parent. But there's an echo of your youth in their future. The slow pace has different meaning to 40yr old parents than to 18yr olds.

  • i just don't like her,

i think her voice isn't interesting and deep enough- but she has presence and i just don't enjoy with what her voice is doing to the song.

  • I dislike this.

  • SIMPLY HEARTRENDING...

  • Cool version !

Have you listened to Nehl Aëlin 's version ?

  • whats with all this acoustic versions ... the world s gone mad with all of us lonely singing like we are alone in our rooms . . . so far i ve heard finch, this one and jules and all of them are without rhytm ... get off the anti depressives and yell for a change, this new culture of lonely arogant people is realy getting on my nerves

  • wtf about mad girl at the end

  • the donnie darko version is so much better!

  • melanie peres is shiting bad this is one of but Gary jules kills

  • The best version by Melanie Peres

  • good song, but what a shit video.

  • original is always the best, simply because the original artist wrote it and knew how it was supposed to sound. although this is a good version, gary jules' version was sh*t.

  • Everyone rules out Adam lambert! why? lol I think his was very well done, but I do enjoy Gary Jules, I heard that one first cause of Donnie Darko :) Good movie, great song!

  • @jazzymcjazzster because this song needs more emotion in it and lambert failed completley he sand it well but there was no substance or feeling in it gary jules nailed it

  • @futilewar1 Seriously people think he had no emotion? Adam Lambert had a ton of emotion! He just conveyed it differently I think. I felt it from him. But I agree, gary jules did nail it.

  • @jazzymcjazzster i mean, ive discussed itwith a few people and that sems to be the general consensus, gary jules just had that extra bit of passion

  • yeah Gary Jules Version is better but i liked the lyrics of this one lol

  • For me , this is the best version ever.

  • A very haunting and beautiful rendition of this song. Wonderful job!

  • Nice version. I must agree, if I wanted a kinder, gentler Mad World",

    Gary RULZ!

  • nothing beats the orginal[s]..... ever

  • @shiftersofwar I would definitely say that the Gary Jules cover beats the Tears For Fears original...lol, but that may just be me.

  • okay, this version, I'd say is...interesting...kinda weird, but i'd have to say i liked the Gary Jules version best, it's just calm and seems kind of more natural than this one and the original one...

  • the only good version is gary jules

  • @seffers10 amen to that

  • Tears For Fears is the best...everyone else gives this song a bad name

  • it was guud but i think u pronounced the words to umm..perfectly?? its gotta be smoother..like gary jules (:

  • The Song Isnt Meant 2B Haunting ...WTF U PPL Get That From....Its A POINT IN LIFE...Listen 2 TEARS FROM FEARS Version The Original

  • Gary Jules Is Best....Are U Crazy............TEARS FOR FEARS ...Is The Best Version Of This Track.....Took Them 30 Yrs Yup On It...This Version Is Terrible

  • 666666th view.... fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

  • fistr picture think : o! my size :)

  • NIIIIICE !! ALL VERSION IS !

  • it is bad.

  • @pestilentrabbit i wouldent say its bad its just its eary creepy

  • in my opinion this is the creepest version

  • Ugh.. The best is Gary Jules. This is bad. 5/10

Her vocals don't match the the way he did it

  • I think my version is better! But of course I'm biased...

  • @LisaJ4Liberty i watched yours. it's ok, but i wouldn't call it haunting... which is what all the best versions of this song are.

  • @PennyDreadfuI - well, thanks for watching it anyway. My favorite version is Gary Jules' by far. I don't find it haunting, but very moving.

  • Dina Layzis sang this far better. Check her out for a fantastic rendition by a female singer.

  • This is a cover of a cover. It would be more interesting if she did something more similar to the Tears for Fears original instead of copying someone else's cover.

  • an imogen heap cover would probably be really cool but really weird.

  • omg im seeing her in concert tommorow!!!!!!

  • This is possibly the 2nd best version of this song I've ever heard. Gary Jules is still the best; but this is right up there. Especially the video; definitely creative with all the contradictory images. Very cool. Great work all the way around.

  • i love the video...love how they work the contradicts on this...:)

  • Adam Lambert is the best.

  • one of the best version of the song but a little bit to long

    GREAT!!!!

    I love the video

  • great version also, this version and Gary Jules are the best

  • They covered the covered song of a decent band!

  • Tori Amos does an orgasmic live version of this song!!!!! This version is okay but besides Tori, I really think Gary Jules pulls off the best cover!

  • tears for fears destroyed their own song, the covers by Gary Jules and Adam Lambert do it justice. I'm not liking this version too much, she just doesn't have the voice range for it. Her voice barely changes at all through the range of sound, its rather monotone.

  • Tears for Fears didn't destroy their own song. It was put out in the early 80s. I love the synth/new wave vibe to it. They themselves love the slow version by Jules, but in touring they found audiences really wanted to hear their original version. For its time it was a great dance song to serious lyrics. It's what made TFF unusual, not poppy, love songs.

  • @drpeppa2357 you're dumb, it was made in the 80's. wait till your kids or grandkids cuss out your own music and say the 2020/2040 covers are better.

  • @magicalpoop are you kidding me? I don't give a shit what era it comes from, if the singing is better in one version than another, i'm going to like the version that was sung better. This has nothing to do with cultural preference, she's just a bad vocalist.

  • the gary jules or adam lambert version r good

  • this song goes better with the gears of war advert

  • I like this a lot.

  • Interesting to hear this in female voice. I liked this version.

  • this sucks, shity tears for fears cover.

  • @sirberner12 gary jules actually

  • @DemonDante147 no tears for fears Actually, grary is a cover of the tears for fears song.

  • very nice (=

  • Okay look... Sarah Hickaman was my idol when I was a kid. You have to realize that this really isn't her type of song. She sings happy, peppy stuff. I knew her very well... She has an amazing voice, so please don't judge her strictly on this song. Plus, this is a very... Well you can't really make it your own, it would ruin the original song... Just saying.

  • she also sings faster than him

  • Great! But the best version is from Gary Jules...it's perfect!!

  • @Ibrida24 my favorite is still the original

  • @Ibrida24 if iam correct hes the maker of the song but iam not sure.

  • @Ibrida24

    x2

  • @Ibrida24

I like Adam Lamberts version better :)

  • @Kurisuteru87 He made a cover to. Will they ever stop with the god damn remixes.

  • @Kurisuteru87 Adam Labert is a very good singer, but sometimes he covers songs, which doesnt fit his voice...

  • A Tori Amos cover would be interesting ;)

  • @gigica44 You know...it really would.

  • OMMMGG, it totally would!!!! Send letters!

  • @gigica44- Fuck Tori Amos. Her covers are shit.

  • adam's version is da best

  • this is one of my favorite songs of all time, but she's not being original with this at all.

  • That's a very good cover song by Sara Hickman, that was originally sung by Tears For Fears.

  • I found her on You Tube last night.I loved her voice so much I ordered 6 of her CD's ,her daughters voice is amazing too.

  • Watch my version of Mad World. Stunning, breathtaking, strong and deep images!

  • Absolutely gorgeous version and a beautiful video to boot.

  • Seriously guys, I know this women. And if you actually understood what she was talking about, maybe you'd appreciate the song more.

  • I don't speak for the rest you're speaking to, but I don't feel "knowing this woman" is going to change my opinion. I already know the lyrics to the song and I've listened to what I considered to be the deepest, most sad version cover by Gary Jules. Knowing who she is isn't going to change the way she sings, I appreciate the song because i love the sad version, most others either speed up the lyrics or try and make them EXCITING, removing the sad element. This one is the closest to Jules.

  • Normally, I don't condemn covers before listening to them completely. But this feels like she's trying to do Gary Jules, except female.

The original, Gary Jules, and Ev. Terr. versions that I've heard so far each have their own feel and sense of originality, which works for them. Not here, though.

  • @AkasunaNoSasoriSama tears for fears recorded the original version, but I agree Gary's cover is the best version of this song.

  • i absolutely sign what uve written. i dont like it either

  • magic

  • OMFG CIGARETS FTW

    0:17

  • Right there with ya

  • E trovo sia una cosa buffa

e trovo sia una di cosa triste

    i sogni nei quali ....

sono i migliori che io abbia mai fatto

    e trovo difficile dirtelo..,

  • fucking retarded version

  • she looks HAWT... oh sorry, did I say hot? I meant NOT

  • She must of been abused as a child?

  • @PISTOLWHIPP81 It's a song from the 1982. This is just her covering that song.

  • TFF were brilliant Garry Jules effort was inspired and my prefered version

This is just contrived shit. It is an assault on the ears and the soul!

  • she articulates too much. i believe garys version is the best, as he lets the words hang. this singer is very abrupt and it sounds like she has no passion.

  • people who are taught to train their voice often sound clipped. Its sometimes just how they are taught, they sound distant. theres just sometimes no way around it, its just how you are taught to sing sometimes

  • that's the whole point - the mad whirled takes the passion out of life

  • well number one, you spelled WORLD wrong, but i wont be a word nazi about it. but i think if all the passion would get taken out of the world, you would sing a little looser, not like an uptight a-hole

  • great song, terrible, terrible verison

    such butchery

  • tears for fears is okay. but i like Gary Jules the best for this song. i mean this version is just okay. it's not horrible but it's not great. it's just okay for me.

  • I don't like this version much...the song just sounds better with a man's voice.

  • I kinda like the deep intrumental and reverb. Not a bad cover at all, been listening to it all day.

  • She tries too hard to be deep + symbolic in this video.

  • Tears for fears forever!

  • @snappycruise

tff and synthpop are trash. the only reason this song is so popular is because gary jules took it to its proper place on the musical spectrum.

  • a good song ruined...

  • she raped the hell out of this song ...

  • she kinda looks like that one lady from Married with Children=]

    ahahaha

  • @TimmyFSU Wow, you should watch the show again, nothing like it.

  • whats wrong with her face lol

  • some parts of the video are very beautiful.

  • this version sucks plain and simple

  • HAHAHAHA... look how big that bitches mouth is... hilarius. shit version of the song tho

  • yeah, i agree with you basstid, shit version and the bitch's mouth is huuuge loll

  • This is her own version, so lets spare her of comparison to the original singers of this song. Everyone is unique as they say, peace!=)

  • @albrenza

I'll agree with you that everyone is unique - but that's the problem, this song is not unique. Tears for Fears was unique for being uptempo, Gary Jules was unique for being slow. The way she sings this song is just covering a cover. This song is just being covered too much not to compare versions which sound alike. I don't hate how she sounds, but I don't care for it either. Sorry, just my opinion.

  • little too slow, lose interest.

Some listeners just aren't THAT sad.

    Lame/cheesy vid too.

  • nice voice but she does the annunciation thing too much... kind of takes away from the song I think. Not cute/kinda pretentious.

  • Some artists need to get some originality...

I mean this is a great song written by Tears for Fears. One day (years after the song was written) this guy Gary Jules decides to have a new view on the song, change it's tone, put the little background riff in another place, etc. I respect that, he did a good job on it too :)

And then there's this girl... Listen Sara: IF you want to cover a cover right after it got out, at least grab a new view on it plz? This is just a pathetic attempt to get cash

  • sara dickman

  • i like this one, actually. female vocals always express it better. gregorian choir also have a nice cover. gary's fine too.

  • not rly... they don' always express it better.. =.=

  • too much emptiness not enough emotion I still say gary juels had it done the best fasninateing imagery though

  • She looks like a ghost...

  • i hate this one i love the version of gary jules

  • I like this. Adam Lambert has an excellent cover of this song...............

  • 1:57

    LOL JAJAJAJJA

  • i dont like this version, id prefer gary jules' cover.
