@claptons1 Your not thinking very big, or morralistically either. Again, a billion would buy you anything. Health, protection (because of privacy), anything....to turn a BILLION down is just plain stupid in my opinion no matter how ya look at it.
props to the backing band for flawlessly changing songs, sounds, time signatures and overall just incredible LIVE musicianship by REAL musicians... not many can even claim that anymore... such a sin...
I heard somwhere that ABBA was offered one BILLION dollars to tour again, and ofcourse, like any rational humans, they turned it down. Wish I had enough cash to turn down a billion bucks. Kinda makes me pissed. I mean, couldent they have done one last tour, made the fans happy, then at the end, if they dident want the money, give it to Africa and give them ALL water or something?? :) I mean common. You could build a UFO for a billion I bet. For fuck sake ABBA, think BIG.
@sralmy I think they sacrificed enough of their personal lives for years (at great personal cost to their relationships, etc), and figure no price can be put on their privacy (once you lose it, the only way to regain it is to end on a low note). The growing hype/superficiality of recent decades wouldn't encourage them to return to the huge spotlight either....... :-)
Googles a wonderful thing :) Try putting in "Abba billion to tour again" and see what comes up. I think you'll be surprised what that grain of salt will get you.....
@MegaBorodino The offer was for ten million each for one hundred shows. It almost undoubtably was not for all one hundred shows worth in advance. Probably it never got to details, because ABBA is too smart to go back on stage thirty years out of their experation date.
Oh I just love the song Hopelessly Devoted To You and I love ABBA!!!!! Olivia is so beautiful! Her hair is so pretty! And I adore Anni-Frid Lyngstad! She is so adorable!
man oh man, Frida, Agnetha, and Olivia in the same video! where was this video when i was 13 and seriously in love with all three :-) thanks for the 2 part medley VistaLasVegas, great memories.
I loved abba and olivia newton john, but i LOVED andy gibb. he was a beautiful young man and as a young gay kid i was totally mesmerized by him. keep your hater comments to yourself... i dont care.

know it will never happen even if Andy G is still around (RIP) and feel sad that ABBA has gone their separate ways...will pay US$3000 for a pair of tickets to watch them "live" anywhere in London, Tokyo, New York, Melbourne, Buenos Aires, Shanghai, etc. U have a DVD of them?
"Take a Chance on Me" leading into "Shadow Dancing" leading into "Hopeless Devoted"...by the original singers...at the same time on the same stage... assisting one another with backup vocals as necessary... I'm ... I'm just at a loss...

I was a child in the 70s, but grew up around older sisters who appreciated music! These 2 videos (parts 1 and 2) bring me back.. AWESOME MUSIC! SO MUCH TALENT!!! All we can do is buy their greatest hits nowadays! MISS THIS STUFF!!
@mantis914 I envy you for having a local 70's station playing this kind of music. Any stations around here I can't listen to more than 10 minutes cause I get annoyed by all this fake sounding 'modern' crap they play.
@redstar127 The time when playback was not an option... I miss you good artists!!!!!!!!! (Today's artists cannot be called artists... they're just crap (with some exceptions...))
Magnificent. I've just listened to ONJ from the concert in Santiago 151110. She still has the voice and beat me, if not many women would like to look that good at age 42......and she's 62!!!!!!
Makes me want to bow down and do the Wayne's World "We're not worthy" thing. 6 amazing, incredible talents together on one stage how incredible it must have been to be in that audience
Just think we could have had a Barry Jr. for years. I wish he was alive to take Maurice's roll. He always said he would love the be a BeeGee. What a shame. A broken heart took him from us.
When I heard a child say "Mamma Mia" the show or movie and didn't know where this amazing music comes from these amazing artists. I was young but it was a great time for music!
those people had no idea at that time how lucky they were to be in that show,I didn't see this tv show before when I was growing up,I guess I missed it. Cool!
Wow! I didn't see this show as a teen, but here are three of my favourite singers/groups all in one night! Thanks for the memories, I appreciate the trip back in time. :D
Benny is musicgenius, and he is so happy when Andy sing a souldisco song, it´s a great clip,I love the down under folks to have abba at there hearts !!
There were only 4 Gibb brothers, but their elder sister Lesley briefly joined The Bee Gees on a part-time basis in '69 when Robin took a year out of the band. She had a good voice, but she left show business soon afterwards and returned to Australia.
I know there were only brother and Leslie, but did not know she joined Barry and mo for a while, Leslie is on one of the photo,s on a viedo clip with the 3 beegees, no Andy would have been nice to see them alll togethr, Most people don,t even know the BeeGees have a sister ;-)
Thanks to this format, we are able to once again witness the finest assembly of talent in the 20th century, and I dare say, probably better than anything the 21st century has to offer.
Olivia looks like an angel here. She is such a sweetheart of a person. Met her once. Andy is greatly missed. Gibb Brothers were like no other..and Abba...speaks for themselves... Fantastic
Bee Gees and Andy were great but so overplayed at that time with Saturday Night Fever, Duets, Solo, just got to much. Saturday Night Fever and later MTV changed music forever ending the singer songwriter, classic rock, soul and country eras in one sweep. Technology, plastic surgeons,
steroids, video clips.. that's the modern artist.
Remember that annoying first video they played?. Video Killed the Radio Star, it did not come to pass right away, but eventually fake artificial music took over indeed. Also, in 1978/1979 was the famous Disco Bonfire at some stadium, Disco had already over stayed its visit by then.
God Andy was so handsome and Olivia so Beautiful those were the Stars They were Just Natural Beauties! Not fake and could sing live not like most singers these days
@bulafritz enough with the gay putdowns!!! it's like its the one thing left that you straight people have that you can get away with! its not right that you can put a person down just because they may or may not look faggy as you put it.
Watch videos where Andy Gibb sings "Don't throw away our love, our love" to appreciate the talent the had. He was only 19 or 20 when he appeared on this show , having been born in March 1958. He died in 1988, at the age of 30...
Olivia Newton John is so beautiful here! I love her hair and her voice is just amazing! What a collection of talent here! Everyone is singing live and possess ridiculous talent. You can clearly see why they were stars!
yeah everyone is entitled to their own opinions, of course, but pretty bad when someone is dead and gone and they are STILL be berated. I always loved Andy Gibb, he was a heart throb "back in my day", am 44 and damn shame what happened to him, as has befell many others, but that is sadly what drug and alchohol addiction can lead to for some. I wish he could have gotten the help he needed. He left us too soon, as have others before and after. I also was and am an ABBA and ONJ fan... memories...
totaly agree with you, and Andy can sure sing if compared to doday's singers, yet considering the company he's in, his act is just a gimmick.. and (don't kill me 'cuz it's true) Olivia's is not that far from being one either.
Are you talking bad about Andy Gibb? The most talented, beautiful, handsome and gorgeous man that ever lived? No you could not be. Andy was and is fabulous this man was pure perfection at the least. He was taken way too early and he is still very loved and missed. I would give my live for this man to be here right now. I love Andy Gibb forever.
The guy in the pink is Andy Gibb his brothers are the Bee Gee's, he died tragically either in the late seventies or early eighties. My wife thinks my boyhood crush on Olivia is funny. I've had it for a long time. Even before I first saw Xanadu in the late 70's.
Thats funny, I have the same crush on Olivia. I'll watch one of these old videos and feel like I am 14 again. I love these old songs. Wish there was a modern equivalent.
@Redtailedhawk99 - I guess your wife doesn't get your crush on Olivia because she's not a guy! LOL! I had a big crush on her too since about 1974. She was gorgeous (still is) with a beautiful voice and great songs. Still love her music! What a great video this is that I happened upon today. Love the BeeGees, Andy, and Abba!
I love this video, and Love with all my energy Olivia Newton-John I would like marry with her. I will travel to Australia next month and my dream is know her.
You don't go around writing stuff like "OMG he sucks" about dead people, you twit. Show a little respect for people like that. You might get some youself, or by then, maybe everyone will say, "He's just a dead donkey." DAW
jeez.. don't get yer nickers in a twist and read what I wrote.
I said he CAN sing.. yet his ACT is a gimmick... talent ? sure.. many singers/musicioans around have great talent, but it isn't put in the right place.
That's all I wrote. As for "respect for people like that".. you mean dead people ? hmm... no comment
I just have to say one more thing, about what I wrote( ;)) ): when I said talent isn't put in the right place, I meant that many tallented people sing/play/compose according to the aestethical mood of the moment only, not listening to their heart. and that's (again that word) a gimmick, not art wich is what music should be. consider this for a moment
lol. I still don't see the point.. 1st of all I didn't insult anyone, second of all you didn't type anything about insults, but about lack of respect... if you feel that it's the same thing, well.. umm... again no comment, except that respect needs to be earned, and same goes for an insult.
Andy sure was something wasn't he, I remember watching him on Solid Gold he was on almost every week sort of like a house regular along with the lovely Sheena Easton. The world lost one enormous talent with his most untimely passing.
Andy reminds me of the story of Icarus, who flew too close to the sun (look it up if you haven't heard it). Sad. But at least he had his moment in the sun.......
It's so great to see these LEGENDS together on one stage singing live!!
There she is with hers' & Here I am with out mine. And still I remain hopelessly devoted to HER

I also know that The Beach Boys & the BeeGees were the only groups at the time to regularly hit those notes (MALE or FEMALE)

The guy in the pink suit is very faggy. I was 13 in 1978, but even then nobody dressed like that. No wonder he turned to cocaine.
bulafritz 2 years ago

Totally agree.

yeah everyone is entitled to their own opinions, of course, but pretty bad when someone is dead and gone and they are STILL be berated. I also was and am an ABBA and ONJ fan... memories...

Back then, being a singer meant you actually needed to be able to sing...
messiah668 2 years ago 52
totaly agree with you, and Andy can sure sing if compared to doday's singers, yet considering the company he's in, his act is just a gimmick.. and (don't kill me 'cuz it's true) Olivia's is not that far from being one either.
danelelendil 2 years ago
Are you talking bad about Andy Gibb? The most talented, beautiful, handsome and gorgeous man that ever lived? No you could not be. Andy was and is fabulous this man was pure perfection at the least. He was taken way too early and he is still very loved and missed. I would give my live for this man to be here right now. I love Andy Gibb forever.

@messiah668 Hmm Rebecca Ferguson can actually sing as you say

The guy in the pink is Andy Gibb his brothers are the Bee Gee's, he died tragically either in the late seventies or early eighties. My wife thinks my boyhood crush on Olivia is funny. I've had it for a long time. Even before I first saw Xanadu in the late 70's.
Redtailedhawk99 2 years ago 4
Thats funny, I have the same crush on Olivia. I'll watch one of these old videos and feel like I am 14 again. I love these old songs. Wish there was a modern equivalent.

Andy died in the late 80s - '88 I think.
Andy and Oliva had several other duets in the following years, after this was filmed in 1978.
E.g. during the Hollywood special Olivia did in 1980.

You don't go around writing stuff like "OMG he sucks" about dead people, you twit. Show a little respect for people like that. You might get some youself, or by then, maybe everyone will say, "He's just a dead donkey." DAW
europamoon100 2 years ago 2
jeez.. don't get yer nickers in a twist and read what I wrote.
I said he CAN sing.. yet his ACT is a gimmick... talent ? sure.. many singers/musicioans around have great talent, but it isn't put in the right place.
That's all I wrote. As for "respect for people like that".. you mean dead people ? hmm... no comment
danelelendil 2 years ago
I just have to say one more thing, about what I wrote( ;)) ): when I said talent isn't put in the right place, I meant that many tallented people sing/play/compose according to the aestethical mood of the moment only, not listening to their heart. and that's (again that word) a gimmick, not art wich is what music should be. consider this for a moment
danelelendil 2 years ago
Some people have deep difficulty with concepts like "Don't insult people who are not longer able to insult you back."
On the other hand, if you want to insult Hermann Goering, please have at it, by all means! DAW
europamoon100 2 years ago 2
