well, gotta say i think the touareg is better than land, keep in mind this is a gas v6 i do believe, they didn't make a 3.0tdi this body style, also vw offers front and rear locking diffs, which this one did NOT have, in fact only 2 vehicles hang with the VW the H1 hummer ,and the merc G, sorry buddy land rover was awesome 10 years ago but not now!

Thats like trying to take a small pick up truck, and smash head on with a freightliner and expect 2 win, just because its an s.u.v., dont mean it can off road against any kind of s.u.v., compare it 2 a Tuscon or sumthin, but definitely not land rover's, LAND ROVER'S RULE! (vw r good 4 sumthin though)

I'm amazed it made it out with those street tires. Why does nobody have good off-road tires on a Touareg? I have checked myself and there aren't any good offroad tires in the factory size but you can upsize and there is only 2.65"difference in diameter.
@rogerpemberton that problem happens with all the new models, they now come standart with 18 and 19 in wheels and it s quite hard to find good tires for a touareg or a discovery 3 or land cruiser 200... back in the 1990 all off road vehicles had 15 and 16 in wheels it was mutch easier to get decent tires ... but then again most 4x4 buyers don t drive off road...

Такое впечатление, что Туарег на шоссейке, а Диско минимум на АТ. Туарег на подходящих для этих условиях колёсах катался бы так же свободно...
И вообще надоели тест драйвы Туарегов на шоссейке...90% роликов Туарегов плохо ездящих в грязи - на трассовой резине. А оппоненты вечно на АТ или МТ

Clearly this video isn't actually showing which car is better....
The guy driving the Discovery, is a hell of a lot better than the one in the Touareg...
And I think the tires had a lot to do with the VW's performance in the mud...

@lowlifehippie That's why I would opt for the 17" wheels and shop around. There's no sense off-roading on 18's or 19's.
