As to me and guns. Thanks either to a couple good blows to the head when I was a kid, a freak of nature, or both, I get rather spacey sometimes. I left EMS because of that. And about 5 years ago -- age doesn't help, I started to space to the point where I will not handle firearms.. I'd be more likely to shoot myself or someone who shouldn't be shot rather than any attacker. Anyone who wants to hunt me down and kill me; please, just try to make it a clean head shot..

I myself choose not to have a gun, but you know that may change, but lets say you don't have any means to protect yourself expect one phone call, which is the case for many people, who is the person that is going to chase down the person that murders your love one? Cops are. You yourself might not need them, but I would take the protection they give despite some of the negatives.

Of course there are negative consequences to these behaviors, but they only hurt those who do them. If the family if affected negatively by someone's gambling, then it's the family's job to get them to stop, not cops. If we make drugs illegal under the justification that behaviors which might hurt families are bad, then we should make almost everything that involves risk illegal.

Many times the gambling that is performed is perfectly legal, but it depends on what kind of gambling you are talking about. You are right. The family needs to take care of the person affect. However again the cops don't make the call on what laws are past.

Drugs do not involve risk. Drugs is just about 100% chance of ruining your life. Do you need to take risks sometimes? Yes. But drugs aren't something you need to be betting on.
