Interesting to see how wrong Denis Healey was on economic matters. His stewardship of the economy in the 70s was a miserable failure, failing to attract investment and encouraging uncompetitive industry.

In the wake of the Thatcherite reforms the British economy has flourished once more, resulting in a quarter century of strong growth from 1982-2007 (save for the blip of 91-92). Japan and Germany in the meantime have endured economic stagnation.
