I think a lot of people should watch this fight again. Couture may have dominated every round. The only questionable round was round 2, and randy was only hurt and controlled for a little over a minute and a half, in which he got back up and controlled Vera again. Randy was too much.

Actually, they each had a takedown, and Couture actually landed more strikes. All Vera had that Couture didn't was a knockdown, and a knockdown only came after Couture had pushed him around for 3 minutes, and he got pushed around again afterwards. The only thing that was fixed was Couture's gameplan, and he executed it very well.
I could see how they could give it to Couture because of his 3rd round dirty boxing and the fact he controlled Vera the ENTIRE match, but made for a boring fight. Having said that it was a close fight, but they should of gave Vera the dicision. Im a HUGE Couture fan but i think he should call it quits soon, although we all love to see him beating down the younger fighters..=p

I turned this fight off in the second round, I turned it off at the begining before the fight, but then I thought I would at least watch the begining. I wish I hadn't. Snoozefest. Vera is fun to watch and randy is tough but Randy is just so boring to watch. Never again will I watch him fight and just squeeze someone for 15 min. I wish the UFC would not bring him in anymore.

For those who you who agree with Joe Rogan, in saying that the judges were wrong in their decision of the main event, you are completely disregarding how the fights are supposed to be scored (which is clearly indicated by Mike Goldberg upon the beginning of each event).
1) Striking and Grappling: Other than a few hard strikes by Vera, it was all Randy with his grappling.
2) Aggression: Clearly the "in your face" aggressor was that of Randy.
Although I do agree that there is a serious problem with not only the judges, but also the referee's in MMA, I do not believe so in this case.
People were upset because it was a boring fight. Regardless of that, according to the rules of the UFC...Randy Couture clearly won.

I agree with you. But I believe the third round should have gone to Vera. Reason being, Vera hurt Randy with the body kick, Randy did show aggression on that round, but didn't do much else besides pushing Vera against the cage. Not only did he hurt him that round, but Vera took Randy down and got mounted. At least I believe that the third was given to Randy by the judges. This is how I saw it: First to Randy, Second for Vera, hence he hurt him, third to Vera. Just an opinion though.

Yeah I use to be a big fan of boxing in the early 90's and I got into wrestling then some MMA later in my military career. Some guys genetically can take some massive hits to the head and others just can't. I don't think Besping is a guy who can by his showing with Henderson.
If you watch Hendo vs. Rampage that was a rumble and Rampage hits at 1800 psi which is up there with a heavy weight boxer. I don't think Besping can hang with guys like Chuck in his prime, Hendo, Rampage, etc.

Vera is good all around fighter, he's got jiu jitsu, wrestling, muay thai. that makes up a great mma fighter.
What he lacks though, and also just as important as the other skills i mentioned is the motivation.
He lacks Fire in his eyes! no killer instinct! i noticed this since he moved down to light heavyweight.

i think you're wrong. alves is one of the best strikers out there and gsp made that look like a walk in the park. there is no flaw in his game, at all. dan hardy will lose - great as he looks- he will lose, striking or not.

I agree that it was a boring fight to watch, but other than literally a couple of solid strikes by Vera, the fight was completely controlled by Randy.
From what I saw, Vera's ass was pinned up against the cage for 90% of the fight, and he could do nothing to defend against it.
Boring YES. But it was not at all in the same realm of bad judging as with the Shogun/Machida fight in saying that Vera was robbed.

For those who you who agree with Joe Rogan, in saying that the judges were wrong in their decision of the main event, you are completely disregarding how the fights are supposed to be scored (which is clearly indicated by Mike Goldberg upon the beginning of each event).
1) Striking and Grappling: Other than a few hard strikes by Vera, it was all Randy with his grappling.
2) Aggression: Clearly the "in your face" aggressor was that of Randy.
3) Octagon Control: No question...Randy!

Although I do agree that there is a serious problem with not only the judges, but also the referee's in MMA, I do not believe so in this case.
People were upset because it was a boring fight. Regardless of that, according to the rules of the UFC...Randy Couture clearly won.
I am actually quite surprised with Joe Rogan's public remarks on the PA. He is usually the first one to criticize referees for separating or standing up fighters that are dead-locked in battle.

I agree with you. But I believe the third round should have gone to Vera. Reason being, Vera hurt Randy with the body kick, Randy did show aggression on that round, but didn't do much else besides pushing Vera against the cage. Not only did he hurt him that round, but Vera took Randy down and got mounted. At least I believe that the third was given to Randy by the judges. This is how I saw it: First to Randy, Second for Vera, hence he hurt him, third to Vera. Just an opinion though.

Vera got fucking robbed....I have great respect for Couture but he didn't earn the fight imo. Also why is anyone blaming Dana White for? He isn't a judge, he is just the president. His role is just to fund the UFC and the contenders.... the outcomes to the fights have nothing to do with him.

Yeah I use to be a big fan of boxing in the early 90's and I got into wrestling then some MMA later in my military career. Some guys genetically can take some massive hits to the head and others just can't. I don't think Besping is a guy who can by his showing with Henderson.
If you watch Hendo vs. Rampage that was a rumble and Rampage hits at 1800 psi which is up there with a heavy weight boxer. I don't think Besping can hang with guys like Chuck in his prime, Hendo, Rampage, etc.

Vera's good but I doubt he can handle Randy. Couture winsin the 2nd round. Swick easily outclasses Hardy, Swick TKO or KO 2nd round. I don't know much about Kang so that fight could go either way but Bispings hungry so Bisping FTW. I think that if Swick fights GSP he really needs to step up his allready great boxing to hopefully keep GSP from taking him down even tho Mike can easily submit people from his back
