Now I know what to do all through the night - listen to everything that you´ve recorded. What a music night there will be. I will switch between The Amboy Dukes and a band from Scandinavia - THE ZETTLERS. Check out their versions of "Skinnie Minnie" and "Beautiful Delilah" recorded in the mid 60's.
Great Tribute to Muddy Waters, Lightnin Hopkins, Robert Johnson, and others too numerous to mention. Fantastic rendition done with a Flair of Pschodelic. Mr. Theodore Q. Nugent has my vote.
For those of you who think this is some sort of brilliant garage rock song from the 60's, It's a cover of an old blues tune written by Big Joe Williams in 1935. Nugent also pays tribute to Hendrix (3rd Stone From the Sun) and to Howling Wolf (Smokestack Lighning) with a couple riffs from those songs.
@Syzygy60 lol no i never stopped playin between then and now, should have spent more time playin guitar over the years instead of spending it on school, girls, partying etc... it's alright though i got my priorities straight since then
@pityisz I think he was paying tribute to Hendrix and showing off that he could play it. The riff at 2:31 is from "Third Stone From the Sun" off the album "Are You Experienced". Hendrix was a fairly new phenomenon at the time and other guitarists were blown away by him and admired him greatly. This song was written by Big Joe Williams in 1935. On this particular Amboy Dukes album they also covered "I Feel Free" by Cream and several other songs written by other people. I bought this when new.
does not get much better than this.... Ted used to play at Sherwood Forest in Davison Michigan and do some crazy shows. Showing up in loin cloth and bow and arrow shooting live into the back door. Was quite a sight.
I remember seeing the amboy Dukes in 1970 and 1971 at Pirates World and at Miami Marine stadium. In those days you could get up close, and get you know what. I remember Ted Nugent mesmerizing everyone when he did stuff like this song. He could wail. It was love and peace. Yep. Kids today just don't understand

Just a little note about the Motor City Madman and the Dukes...Ted formed the band in Chicago suburbs in late `64 early `65, played arounf Palatine and Arlington Heights before moving back to Detriot sometime in late `67 early `68!!
I've been looking for this version a long time ago!! Thanks dude. Had no clue about the band's name but somehow I had a feeling Nugent was involved. Good job!
My first concert was Ted Nugent and the Amboy Dukes in Lasalle Michigan at The Full Tilt Ballroom I was 12 in 1971 and it costs $2.50 It was 5 miles from my house.ob Segar and the Segar system played there too.
@Carlito1988 Just wanna say, I'm 12, and I listen to this music and nothing else, I am a hardcore rocknroller. A lotta kids listen to a lotta crap these days, but I listen to Metal, Rock, classic, and anything I can get my hands on. 85% of kids @ my school listen to rap and hip-hop or, Lady Gaga or crap like that. Its digusting.
@xxMetalPunkofRockxx Rock on. Don't ever stop. Kids like you are the future of rock and roll. Turn it on, Leave it on. If it's too loud, you're too old!
@xxMetalPunkofRockxx Rock on. Don't ever stop. Kids like you are the future of rock and roll. Turn it on, Leave it on. If it's too loud, you're too old!
This came out on the album "Amboy Dukes" in January of 1968. Are You Experienced? was recorded in late 1966 and early 1967 to be released in 1967 as well. So, that should answer your question. Jimi's the real deal.
wait a fuckin second yeah it's coronation street, heard during jimi's visit to the uk before third... etc ...there's no originality is there? so what?
One of the 5 best minutes of music ever recorded- Nothing against Van Morrison, but Ted & the boys are just killer on this version of Them's song (even though this is actually an old blues song from the 30's).
Their journeytothecenterofthemind is also awesome. Love them.

@Carlito1988 Didn't Muddy Waters record this when Ted was still a baby? I think he recorded it as Turn Your Lamp Down Low, in 1953.
Big Joe Turner was the original artist and recorded it first, in 1935.
This is the Best rock version, IMO, but it can't touch the Muddy version.
