But they had to troll the book lovers by having the troll stab frodo rather than a chief of the orcs, which would have inflicted a painful, winding blow, but had that troll actually stabbed him, if he still had flexible material, he'd have died from broken ribs puncturing his lungs...

So, the filmmakers failed.

It's easy for people who don't study physics to believe in movie physics. When you start having to pay attention to the details, it becomes second nature to notice details.

I only ignore such details in comedy movies.

Like you can tell me what I should enjoy and shouldn't enjoy. Honestly, that attitude is bullshit. It probably means that you're just a bit dumber and are more easily swayed by things that don't make sense.

Realism is one thing. CONSISTENCY is another. Sure there are wizards, trolls and hobbits. However, in the movie, physics is supposed to make sense in the same way that it does here. Tolkien knew this and had an orc chieftain stab Frodo at this part. Filmmakers changed it.

i think Pipin and merry really show their courage here. especially pipin. he stayed on the troll till it fell. Aragorn, borimir , gandalf and....everyone in the fellowship is awsome. i must admit LOTR is the best trilogy ever.
