what is the student life here?? i visited winter break and loved it. What would it be like for a transfer student to go here? Are people friendly and accepting?
@SuRfErGiRl24681 Life is incredibly laid back, and i'm a coloradoan saying that, not a new yorker. People are very lenient and the campus is willing to give you the benefit of the doubt if you come up short on any important dates. That said there is an extreme amount of "hawaiian pride". Anyone of japanese, korean hawaiian or vietnamese descent is likely to get special treatement. There is special Hawaiian and asian only buildings on campus where advisors give special treatment to asian students
interesting concept for the video but if you're gonna sell the dorms of UH at Manoa, might as well keep it simple and explain what are the amenities, the pros and cons, price points and how one goes about getting in to the dorms.
Hey, I am a senior at high school and I am currently looking at colleges. UH at Minoa seems to be a good college, but I was wondering if you could tell me how their Biomedical/Biochemical Program is.
@AJLstudios It's probably not that amazing. I'll be honest with you; hawaii is not a great place for great colleges. This is a good place to go and hang out and party and get high (why I left). It has some great teachers and some really bad teachers (in equal amounts) and you'll come out of there with a bachelors but perhaps not a full education. If you're serious about a biochemical major, go somewhere else.
@asianninja343 There's an overarching hawaiian attitude about hanging out and going with the flow. Everything is very slow, literally they all "hang loose". The people at this school were not as helpful as at my other schools in colorado. Also (this doesn't apply to everyone) there was some heavy heavy drug use with our roomates and their friends and many others on campus. Many of the teachers were just awful, the school isn't the quality you'd expect for its price tag. but it's very relaxed.
HI! i really would love to go to your school! it is my dream i am in love with hawaii and it seems like an amayzing school!!!! is it hard to get into if your not above like a 3.5 average? and btw awesome vid! hope to someday be on that campus!
@LuverMakeup you don't need a 3.5 average, actually I'm pretty sure anything over a 2.5 will get you in. It's a really nice school but it's pretty expensive
hi, :) am from NYC planning on transferring to UH Manoa coming fall, Out of state tuition is crazy :/ but nonetheless thats not gonna hinder my plans cus the idsland looks soo laid back!!!! :p. anyhow whats the WUE you mentioned above?
@TheZimmerer This school is actually pretty easy to get into. But they are infamous for screwing things up, losing paperwork and not knowing what it is they are supposed to be doing. In that sense it is complicated because you really have to be ontop of things
@TheZimmerer The key is to get the WUE (western undergraduate exchange), that'll cut most of your expenses in half. Plus if you book a plane ticket out of new york it should be alot cheaper because NY is a massive hub for the US, they'll probably fly you down to a transfer flight in Cali before you hop across the water.
@luv4chocolate no idea, but if it's the same room + board price and it's not that new dorm over by the freshman cafeteria then it should be about the same layout inside I'd imagine. If it's one of the four freshman towers than it would have real air conditioning, elevators and slightly larger rooms with slightly routier guests

@LuverMakeup
You can also move to Oahu and get a job for a year to maintain yourself, then apply. Residents are guaranteed entry with above a 2.5 I believe.
