  • Nice old engine! I subd ya up and look forward to watching all your videos! Good job on them as well! I love em old engines too!

  • @CRAZY4WHEELHORSES Thank you - I see you have some nice toys on your channel!

  • @Hallaran I hope to finish my new shop and start in on something soon.....ughhh, alot of work to do still, but it will be nice in the end, thanks for commenting! Take care bud.

  • i want one for a bicycle build

  • @TheIndustrialphreak That would be neat project!

  • i'd be more suprised if it didn't run great

    honestly

  • @10yroldcarlover Old but well made!

  • Runs like a clock ticking and knocking lol at least there healthy ticks and knocks.

  • @Woodland18 Pretty durable after all this time...

  • @Hallaran Yep They just dont build them like they used to.

  • If my clock ran like that then I would start to worry

  • I have a 1911-1918 Cushman Model C, 4hp. 1911 is the patent year, and 1918 is when they began utilizing magnetos. My particular model uses a battery and a Model T buzz coil. I have only loaded it via wrapping an object around the pulley and applying tension, but it seems to have an exceptional amount of torque!

  • @joejedlicka That engine has some great old features...Do you have the video, I would like to see it run.

  • Added to my favorites-thanks for sharing.

  • The first V12 Spitfire engines are 1930's too.

  • @Rob187ok A good time for engines on this planet, my have they made our lives easier. Thanks for your comment.

  • WANT TO TRADE I HAVE A MODEL WI 5S Y AND a mest up 1930 briggs 2in borer but model nr6's have a 1and a 1/2 in borer so plz trade

  • i bet it gets like 1 gallon to the mile lol...great vid

  • @eltonjohnfan100 holy fuck, hummers get better mpg's than that

  • whoa, exposed rockers, dont see that everyday

  • @TheRebelman95 You KNOW engines! Thanks

  • @Hallaran thank you for the compliment!

  • i like the shape of the cooling fins

  • @tagaEskinita Yes, that kind of thing makes me like old engines too. Thanks for stopping by!

  • Could you put something like this on a bicycle? Remove the pedals & hook this thing up?

  • @omgitsaaron why not?

  • @omgitsaaron Yes, there have many applications for these little Briggs and Stratton engines!

  • That looks like a Wash Machine engine, Usually the kick starts come from Wash machines, I have 1 like that with a pull rope start,

  • @gritzschke Yes, probably off an old washing machine or maybe an early lawn mower.

  • @Hallaran I'd say a washing machine as well. My grandmother had one and it looked a lot like this one.

  • Nice to see old stuff running that nice. Cars and things made today has a problem with something every 5 minutes.

  • the dam starter mechanism on my 5 hp briggs is jacked up im trying tfind a vid on how to fix it

  • top speed 25 mph but 10000000000000 mpg

  • @MsCrappants Yes not a lot of variation in the old models....

  • @MsCrappants At any speed a Hobby is a blessing! Thanks :-)

  • at first i thought it was a detriot moter put on the sherman tanks but its not cool thoug

  • Very nice

  • 5mpg

  • Yes Sir! Thanks for making it run for 80 more! We may need this U.S. made beauty when all the chinese crap gets to expensive to buy and starts to fall apart. When that happens, it looks like the FH will be here to save the day!

    Great resto job.

  • put a supercharger on it !! :D

  • @solunasunrise No! It would destroy the collector's value.

  • clocks dont run....

  • @TheBikefish the kind with feet do:)

  • Very coool engine design thanks for posting!

  • @cruddbucket Thank you! :-)

  • I see the rocker arm on the intake valve, but how in the crap is that exhaust valve working?

  • @roro879 The rocker arm is actually for the exhaust valve, the intake valve opens from the suction of the piston intake stroke without the help of a rocker arm or pushrod..

  • @Hallaran Oh cool,thanks!

  • i saw an OLD briggs slant cylinder,at the howard county 4h fair, VERY rare, if i see him at the tipton fair i will get a video of that

  • @SpiritsoftheWolf Would love to see it - thanks!

  • My dad and I have been working on a 1925 1/2 hp. Is there any place you know of that has parts for these things?

  • @punchritch Yes: CHARLES CAMARA 33 TUCKER AVE Tiverton, Rhode Island 02878 Phone: (401) 624-4783

He has a catalog he will send you of vintage Briggs parts.

  • @egn83b

    R u a liberal democrat?

  • that isn't a briggs, that is a Maytag!

  • @datawraith3080 It is a Briggs model FH.

  • @datawraith3080 briggs made maytag engines.

  • @MrTpengineer oh ok i knew it was a maytag lol

  • @datawraith3080 I commented on the wrong persone lol, but yea.

  • @datawraith3080 looks like a maytag... but with briggs style muffler... its a old briggs with no cover ok?

  • @pcblah makes sense

  • That motor will run forever as long as we still sucking oil out of the earth.

  • @egn83b yeah the oil you use everyday , hypocrite.

  • man these briggs dont die ey, i cut down half an acer of grass as tall as me, with a 3.5 briggs and stratton. lol. minus all the rocks and trees i hit. the gas was almost boiling inside the gas tank when i filled it up. thanks for the video. made me smile :)

  • @MrCollinsliam Hey, maybe it is a little about who we are... North America can still manufacture quality. The US and Canada still have it going on! Thanks for your comments and stopping by!

  • its losing compression, it backfire a lot, it doesn't run properly,,,..

  • @Procker666 Look inside the cylinder if you can to see if the cylinder walls are scored. Have you pulled the spark plug to look for carbon buildup?

  • @Hallaran yeah,...i change the spark plugs couple of times and clean the cylinder from carbon buildup

  • @Procker666 I would check the fuel lines for dirt and make sure the carb settings are accurate to the owner's manual specifications - make sure the aircleaner is free of dirt. Check your ignition timing, an electric short or timing blip can mess things up on a high revolution engine like that... I would have a certified service mechanic do a diagnostic on the ignition - it is very important that it fires accurately!

  • @Hallaran thanks appreciate the help...

  • nice..,..is there a chance also for my Suzuki B120 engine to run???hasn't run for a few years now.....

  • @Procker666 Hi, Do you have any idea what is wrong with it? There are some helpful forums on the web that can walk you through getting it repaired?

  • Comment removed

  • We had a old massey tractor at work. late 60's tractor i believe. Covered in rust and moss etc. I thought it would never work.

Well i was wrong. We got it started and it ran great. Hasn't been started in 7 years...

like they say dont build them like they used to...

  • @valcan321 It must be built well that it could sit like that for seven years and then still start. Massey makes a fine product. The older the better! Thanks

  • thats a good running engine there. i really like these old engines

  • @pivotboy63 Appreciate your good comment, Thank you!

  • I would run them all day and all night, love this! Thanks!

  • @globalmilind Fun toys that is one of the great things about it all! Thanks!

  • @Hallaran we found a 2006 briggs and strat today and it has never been used... well it works :D

  • @pcblah Great! Finding them is part of the fun!

  • what kind of gasoline do you use to run the engine?

  • @SuperMAZ007 It runs well on regular unleaded, I do not over rev them.

  • shes a keeper

  • @peckiledorf Thanks!

  • That is awesome! I love old engines, but this one takes the cake!

  • @VinnyMartello Thanks, they are fun to play with and are not too hard on the old budget!

  • Sounds great.

  • @67ChevelleSSBlown460 Like great 67 Chevelles. I'll never forget a hole shot I saw of a stock 1969 396 CU Chevelle... Incredible.

  • I really like the exposed lifters.

  • @iggy151 Yes, funny to think that the flathead that came out later and was supposed to be an improvement is now pretty much obsolete and we are back to overhead valves again. I guess you could say they had it right the first time! Thanks for stopping by.

  • @Hallaran Two steps forward, three steps backward.

  • @iggy151 yeah, but we gotta keep up the good fight!

  • its got a very pleasant sound to it, was it tuned as such?

What was it designed for? thanks for sharing :)

  • @R5H4D0W Yes, what I like about the older engines as the slower they run the more personality they seem to have... This engine was multi-purpose, washing machines, electricity generation, lawn mower applications etc...

    Thanks for stopping by.

  • this thing runs better than most new briggs engines!

  • @macthemec Thank you Sir!

  • Cool older engine! Is it still plenty strong?

  • @3BricksHigher Yes, it generates quite a bit of force for the 1/2 horspower it generates.

  • it runs like a clock, how do you tell what the time is?

  • @k77jones "Smooth" like a clock!

  • wow neat , nothing last like a brigg,n stratton hahaha

thanks for the request ,and add, really neat stuff

  • @musiclovr2 Thanks for stopping by, fun to keep these old engines running!

  • @Hallaran nice motor make it do a lil work like a small genarator to power a clock lol

  • @gaspowerrules Yes, I wish I had one to hook up to this engine!

  • @Hallaran yea my neighbor has some old briggs that he got off the curb they just sit in his garage he says they run great

  • @gaspowerrules I think the fact that these engines are made of cast iron gives them extended life! :-)

  • @Hallaran i aslo agree the older cast iron block briggs are way better than new alumanum block briggs or at least i think soo

  • @gaspowerrules Well, you know that is what they call "progress" right? . Briggs has a nice combination of the old and the new I guess!

  • @Hallaran lol

  • @Hallaran U EVER SEE a tesla turbine gas engine! incredible technology, so much lighter for the amount of horsepower it creates, for every pound of mass, the tesla gas engine would develop 10 horsepower!! the most lightest, efficient, and powerful gas engine man could ever make! looking at some of the british patents, his device looks just like the first jet engine, its sad what they did to him, would be awesome to see an 80 yr old tesla turbine engine!! great stuff btw, i love old engines

  • @boxa888 Yes, Tesla was an incredible inventor wasn't he? He was so advanced for his day and age. I'm not trying to take anything away from Edison but Tesla's alternating current concept was much more advanced then Edison's direct current IMHO. We would love to have in this day and I wouldn't we? Thanks

  • very cool

  • @snedewolf2112 Thanks and Happy New Year!

  • I suppose you had to oil that rocker shaft and push rod often, 'cause there

couldn't have been any pressure oiling-oil would be flying everywhere.

Old technology that was a great boon to civilization back in the day, but

kept the "fix it shops" busy.

  • @4freespeech Actually I thought it was very inferior but I was surprised as to how well it ran! Yes it did need extra care to run it.

  • the red engine in the background, is it a massy harris if so what size. I have a 1928 31/2

  • @ozeme It is a Fairbanks Morse but they do look similar don't they?

  • are those the points at the top?!

  • @ChevySilverado2500 no, they are the rockers that open the valves.

  • @minedronebiznis i was gonna say thats weird

  • I have an origional manual and all documents for this very engine including guarantee card in pristine condition, sadly I don't have the engine which would be lovely

  • Makes one wonder where and what condition the engine might be in...

  • @Hallaran Hi there, i know! I wish they were united!;-(

  • @knutfheifer United engine?

  • @Hallaran sorry, I meant the user manual and the engine;-))) Ive got the origional manual and books for my car including the origional sales reciept and it's a nice thing to have.

  • @knutfheifer Absolutely, I would think that would add value to it. Sadly those things get misplaced. I am happy when I get a manual with the engine when I buy it.

  • i found vintage motorbike plans and the motor they used was a briggs fh

  • You have some old plans there!

  • is that one of the ones the used on washing machines?

  • Yes, at that time they were low horsepower. They were used to generate electricity and run lawnmowers also!

  • howd they use them on mowers?

  • Yes!

  • no lol wat i was askin was if its a horizontal how tey run it on a push mower but i figured its prolly a walk behind that they powerd

  • these were used on reel mowers, reel mowers use horizontal shaft engines, theres lots of reel mower vids around on youtube

    hope that answered your question

  • thanks

  • nice briggs fh there. i had one but sold it to a fellow in oregon

  • i like the exposed rocker arms i like being able to see all the moving parts makes it more interesting im hoping to get some more old engines like this hopefully a generator like yours or another engine by its self so i can make a generator

  • u put that on a bicycle or something?

  • I just collect them. They are old so I just run them. kind of rare for a bicycle. Thanks for watching!

  • nice

  • Thanks for watching!

  • thats cool. i like your vids.

  • Love those old slant finned, open rocker Briggs. Very nice running machine you have there.

  • oh that is REALLY old briggs, proves that briggs engine can run forever!!! thanks for sharing!!

  • You know there are a lot of experiences we will all have in this life but appreciating things mechanical is one great experience!

  • i second that!

  • indeed couldn't have said it better! that's so true

  • Nice! I would love to pick up an FH someday. One slipped thru my fingers a few years back, and I kick myself on a regular basis for letting it.

  • lol! mine was given to me by my great grandfather! it turns out it is an extreamly rare all original twinschroud fh briggs a 1929!

  • Runs like a clock. That i would have to agree.

  • Very cool. Never heard one run before. Love the atmospheric (automatic) intake valve.

  • Thanks, can never have too many engines!

  • nice you got some pretty awsome videos!

  • Thanks, can never have too many engines!

  • thats right.
