  • This was not funny at all, just a tragic made up joke...

    How ignorant can you be?

  • wow even as I child I tough that 2:54 !

  • Play fucking game red or bleu or watch the show fucking hel normaly your awsome but your are a ficking moron in this review

  • @timgoed99 I like Pokemon and I like His Pokemon Nostlagic Review

I like the First movie, but the only Part I find it kinda Dumb is when all Pokemon Start Tearing to Revive Ash, ya I know it's sad, but Find it Cliche.

  • How can he be Nostalgia Critic if he didn't even watch the original Pokemon..?

  • Ow, right in the childhoods...

  • I love this!!! Make fun of beyblade next please!!!!!!!!

  • I always hated the end of this fucking movie. Love the original season though! Pokemon!

  • You know...when he was talking about the good shows he had growing up, I actually knew what he was talking about. So all in all, I had good shows! XD

  • I laugh and was happy when Ash died, when he returned I was like:Fuck...FUCK....FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU....

  • @UnivingIshiro lol me too, I always hated ash

  • @MissiGNO000 red>>>>>>>>>>>>>>ash (and dont even say theyre the same fucking person)

  • @plants305 I know, I always loved the pokemon games evennow I love them but I always hated the cartoon (it's not an anime because it's not based on a manga) for me, the movie it's not so bad as the critic describe it, the draws and the animations are fantastic, but I agree whit him at 2:54 even as a child I tough that was ridicolous, Pokemon it's based on figthing!!

  • 0:00

  • It's not called pocket monsters because when nintendo and game freak went to release pokemon red and blue that name was already copyrighted.

  • I love the games (If their not spin-offs) but I hate the anime.

  • "Tears of unfathomable sadness."

  • This movie was so gay, like the franchisr as a whole

  • I was the terrible kid that laughed when Ash was turned to stone.

  • yea it was a pretty shity film... but OJ didnt do it

  • Oh no! You won´t review the enxt 15 pokemon movies?

  • The first movie is bad when looking back at it. But to a kid who played the shit out of the pokemon games, well, the movie was the shit. I really enjoyed this review since it was about something I am actually nostalgic towards

  • I'm sorry you had to watch it. I personally love Pokemon, but that doesn't mean I don't know it's a shitty movie!

They never really explain what Pokemon are in the show, either, so you're not alone.

  • I'm aware this movie is horrible. That said, this was painful and almost a weak review simply because half of it seemed to consist of him complaining because he clearly didn't do his homework on the subject matter which might not be so bad...if not for the fact he knows what's going on with most of the other stuff he reviews. Here he sounds less like a funny reviewer and more like that old guy saying he doesn't understand kids these days. That and, he didn't make a whole lot of jokes.

  • @Arc13 I don't want to come across as a fanboy, I like Pokemon, but nowhere near as much as most do(I've played 4 of 5 gens, only really remember 3 of them, only 2 I even played at the proper time/order). I just feel like there were better things to point out. About the best thing he could point out to me was Mew. I always felt Mew was a little retarded(I know they were shooting for playful, but with the expressions, it failed miserably)and I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that.

  • I used to like Pokemon but really it's kinda Fucked up saying that violence is bad when the whole series is based on violence its like call of duty saying its bad to fight

Ps mew sucks dick big time

  • guys dont bash on NC for not liking this movie its his opinion

  • I guess the key words are "this way"

violence is fine, as long as trainers command their pokemon to use moves. But god forbid the pokemon are violent to each other for no reason.

  • Hey fans, take it easy. Is just a comedy. I mean, when I saw this movie, I liked pokemon. Now I'm 26 and I don't give a crap about pokemon. This is just funny and I mean, is not like the NC is disrespecting you. Don't take it personal, enjoy the critic or don't watch it.

  • when the part with fighting came one their wasent a dry eye in the audience. i saw it

  • I'm a huge fan of the firsts pokemon movies and i'm not pissed, i laughed with the review

Nostalgia critic and pokeyman RULZ!!! :D

  • I did watch this movie... it was enought.

  • What te hell Part one was copyright. BULL SHIT

  • Part one removed from a copyright complaint from ShoPro? Apparently reviewing a film now counts as copyright infringement. Fucking youtube :P I could see if Nostalgia Critic put in a claim since someone else uploaded it, but the company who distributes the anime for Nintendo? Really? Besides, 4kids held the licensing rights when this movie came out in the US which seems to be the version he's reviewing :P

  • This movie was so sad. I mean, Venasaur

  • @kerseyHarding

Egoraptor would come up with a better joke!

  • @kerseyHarding HAHAHAHAHAHA, ISEEWHATYOUDIDTHERE =D

  • I cried at this movie... Of course i was 9 but still

  • Suddenly... Batman.

  • Comment removed

  • Even though he is sorta right about the "fighting is wrong is hypocritical" thing, I think there's another way of looking at it. What I think they're trying to get at is that Pokemon shouldn't be fighting for the reasons Mewtwo wants them to fight. It's not going to prove anything and it's not why they fight in the show. In the show, Pokemon fight to both learn about each other and get stronger and it rarely goes as far as trying to destroy each other like in this movie. But that's just my view.

  • HE'S NOT EVEN SAYING POKEMON RIGHT!!!!!! That's a really good way to piss fans off

  • Jic there are some who at a confused as the critic.... In the movie they are talking about the extent of the violence.... In the show they just do it till one of them passes out ( more or less) not till they die.

  • i have lost a HUGE amount of respect of you critic...... looks like more for AVGN! >:D

  • In the English version, Mew gives a speech about how real strength comes from the heart, whereas in the Japanese version, Mew declares that all unnatural life (ie, clones) are inferior to the originals, and thus should perish. (Okay I will give 4kids that one, that one needed to be changed. What kind of message is that to kids?)

  • I looked it up and 4Kids completely changed not only the dialogue, but the message the Pokemon Movie had in the Japanese version! The Japanese version instead portrays Mewtwo as a confused being who cannot place himself among other living beings, so his stress of not being able to figure any of that out leads to his destruction of the laboratory on New Island and Team Rocket's new base, and eventually, his plan to get revenge on the world to prove he should be alive. (continued in next post)

  • To be fair, part of the reason this sucks is because 4kids did such a sloppy job localising it.

  • @ReloadXPsi

Very true. I wrote up what the movie was suppose to be about on the comments section of this video.

  • Ash : fighting is bad... we should not fight

Pikachu : We Do... We do it for you.. you PRICK

  • It's all true, but nostalgia is more powerful than logic.

  • I'm an avid pokemon fan and I cried at the fighting scene multiple times, but everything he says in this review is true. XD It's my guilty pleasure~

  • @keobeo610

Man, I cried too, and years later when I played the DVD of the movie to show my younger siblings (who sadly weren't born in the 90s) how awesome Pokemon was, I cried again X3

  • Why don't you review a real movie?! I got enough on my channel to keep ya busy fer years

  • obviously this guys a total fuckhead you cant appreciate these films if u watched this show when u were little only be a nostalgia critic to something that is nostalgic to him what a faggot.. fail

  • In pokemon when you die you turn into stone so kids don't see dead bodies

  • Pokemon was never my thing and you probably have to invest in it to enjoy it, but from a technical standpoint Pokemon sums up everything that is wrong about japanese anime.

  • NC your awesome but Pokemon is epic

  • OMG nostalgia critic is so right pokemon is just hypocritical and the human voices just annoy the hell out of me.

  • On a completely unrelated note, Stop hitting yourself, Pikachu. STOP HITTING YOURSELF!

  • LOL this made me LOL . But the part where Ash died @3:15 had me bawling when he petrified. LOL that reminds me of Tangled when Rapunzel cried over Eugene's dead body.

  • What that noise? Below in the comments? Sounds....dangerous......Oh...OH NO.....THEY'RE HERE!!!!

    FANBOYS!!!!!!

  • The NC really has no right to bash this show. At the beginning of his full review (wherever part 1 is), he claimed he never watched the anime before. The only reason he reviewed this movie is because his fans asked for it. Word of advice: if you've never watched the show version and have nothing good to say, then don't say anything at all.

Oh, and DON'T disrespect Mew! Best Pokemon ever.

  • @MewLuvr43 Normally i would agree with you, but after pokemon released the third season, Pokemon lost alll my respect.

The characters HAVE little to no personality in that seasons.

Plus, he never watched the series Avengers, but someone complain about him make a review about the movie? No.

  • @MewLuvr43

He's reviewing the MOVIE, not the series as a whole.

Jumping in the kool-aid and you don't even know what the flavor is!

  • @MewLuvr43 - Basically he is a MOVIE critic also. Soooo..... he pretty much has the right to bash any movie that doesn't allow any REAL explanations. Usually in movies, you don't need prior knowledge about show itself. Hell even NEWBIES who watched transformers movie! And Optimus pretty much explained "who they really ARE" as the story progresses. For pokemon movie.... well... Doug pretty much summarizes it xD. At first Mew is cool, but guess WHAT! there are THOUSANDS of POKEMON NOW.

  • @MewLuvr43 still a virgin huh?

  • @MewLuvr43 No right? Of course he has a right to review this. That's like saying Twilight haters of the movies can't give reviews just because they haven't read the books. Learn some common sense before looking like an idiotic and oblivious fan, please.

  • i liked this movie, and i know the the NC is just taking parts out of context, but that is what i love about him, i loved this review it made me laugh for hours. and without further adeau

    SUCK MY BALLS!

  • Where's part 1?

  • The idea behind Mew is he was supposedly the world's most powerful pokemon for thousands of years. This is why his character is so playful and disconnected- he views the world benevolently, but subservient, somewhat how a small child views his favorite bear or toy railroad.

hmm... actually that could have made him an absolutely horrifying character, sort of a Zeus meets Willy Wonka. Now THAT would have been a good movie!

  • Stop calling 'em PokeMEN. XP

  • I thought Troll in Central Park had the worst life lesson, but no this "Crying to bring people back to life?" Hands down that is just . . . . . . . .crazy . . . . . stupid . . and . . . really childish.

  • When will we learn? Simple answer: Never.

  • REALLY?!!! FIGHTING IS BAD?!! Maybe thats why war is frowned upon.

  • How did I get here....

Ah well, it's hilarious; I'm gonna stay.

  • Fighting is not bad, it depends on the reason for which you are fighting. the lesson was total baloney and so was this movie. I love how the bad guys are not really bad guys lol.

  • I liked the show when I was young, but it got old and too repetitive for my liking. The games were fun back in the day but this movie and Ashes stupidity turned me off form pokemon the show.

  • Thanks for the good laugh. :)

  • Pokémon was awesome! Probably still is, though now there are more episodes than I care to watch.

Half the charm with this movie was that mewtwo had his appearance/appearances earlier in the TV-series and we got to see him in Giovanni's care etc, so it was kind of a hype built up around him. That and he was the coolest Pokémon you could get in the blue/red gameboy games (except for possibly the original mew, #151, but he wasn't obtainable by normal means)

  • MAGICAL POKEMON TEARS!

  • lol fighting bad?

  • A lot of these points I can agree with, but it kind of makes me sad knowing that this is the kind of stuff I grew up with. Watching this review made me tempted to watch the whole movie over and I did. And you know what? I liked it. Even though it was bad, I still enjoyed it. It's probably just because I grew up with it. Seriously though was it that bad?

  • Press 4 repeatedly

  • Guys, the reason that the NC didn't like the movie was because he didn't grow up with pokemon and the movie didn't really do a good job of explaining what was going on for the uninitiated. And the movie did get a little overly preachy.

  • @Blaaz101 Die off? Pokemon Black and White sold more than any other Nintendo game ever made. Second only to the original super mario bros. Another fun fact that pokemon in Japan is just as popular as it was in the 90's here. Pokemon still has all their movies still put into theaters there. Think it even has its own channel. Pokemon isn't dying anytime soon.

  • @Dattebayo04

Okay, maybe not in Japan, but you have to admit that here in the US it's nowhere near as popular as it used to be. There are a number of nintendo video game series that are popular in Japan and have had little impact outside of Japan. Pokemon was originally one of those series, before it exploded into other countries, and it could become one of those series again someday. But, I guess technically it's in no danger of dying out, so I apologize for my incorrect assertion.

  • @Blaaz101 Yeah, and if you observe, you'll see that new generations grow into pokemon. Earlier this month the U.S put the latest poekmon in select theaters and alot of people came. So pokemon is still very strong in this country, even though it's not booming like it did in the 90's.

  • @Dattebayo04

True. And I guess that, even though they've been sticking to the same formula, they have added new content. I actually thought that they had run out of ideas after Diamond and Pearl, but Black and White proved me wrong. I'd still like them to change it up a little, but the games are still good and still reasonably popular, so I guess you're right.

  • I am PROUD to say that I still love Pokemon! (the old version, the new version sucks) When my friends played with stuffed animals and tea sets I was collecting Pokemon cards! The movie came to theaters when I was 4 and when Ash turned to stone, I was crying and begging my mom to take me home XD

While Nostalgia Critic bashes all of my favorite movies from the 90s, I do see his point a lot of the time. (Fans of the Doug Cartoon, steer clear of NC's "Doug's 1st Movie" review!)

  • @CaitlynBarone I'm a fan of a LOT of stuff he bashes, or at least I'm a fan of what I remember, and I have never been pissed at his verdict. For instance, Inspector Gadget was the shit to me growing up, and his view was hilarious. The secret is to not take everyone's opinions, particularly one's own, too seriously.

  • ASSHOLE!!! i'm a pokemon fan and i thought this movie was the GREATEST! X(

  • the nostalgia critic really knows how to ruin childhoods.

  • where the fuck is part 1?

  • Thank you Nostalgia Critic, you ruined my childhood. :c

  • @gonzasxxxz They don't fight to death with special powers. It's a sport, but in the movie it was morally wrong because they took it too far.

  • yea, the japanese version IS better, but pokemon was still a great show back in the day.

  • am i the only person who doesnt find this guy funny at all?

  • @VegetaX9001 you sure are :)

  • I've just realised how shit that film was. Thanks.

  • im 16 and i love this movie but i think 4kids could have done better with it... but also they could have done much worse

i dont watch the japanese version because i dont speak japanese and i cant find any fansubs

  • @charizardoreo The Japanese version is really different. Even the soundtrack and plo is different

  • As a kid I thought the movie was great. Was huge into pokemon. But as a now 19 yr old I now see the flaws xD Funny cute review :3

  • Pokemon series and movies are bullshit!!!

  • yes he is retarded ^_^

  • why is it that YouTube is allergic to part 1?

  • first part's gone for copyright now...

  • I swear the Pokemon series and movies are going way downhill right now!!!! And it fucking sucks like shit!!!

  • someone is too old to have had pokemon be their childhood and is being hostile

  • lol bullshit!

  • wow this guy isn't funny

  • @sausagemanlorne23 That's because this is one of his first Reviews. Watch some of his newer Reviews. They're MUCH better!

  • @sausagemanlorne23 Or maybe your sense of humor is just terrible?

  • @sausagemanlorne23 Ehhh, he has his moments. Although he's goes over the top and it gets kinda corny sometimes, he's still kinda funny

  • @sausagemanlorne23 Who the hell thumbed up your comment

  • does anyone know the music from 0:55 - 1:40

  • @BookerDayton Yes, its Adagio for Strings

  • The reason why Pokemon the Movie sucked for many (it did sucked for me)...4 Kids and the rewriting of the script, because in the original version Ash stayed dead and in fact Mewtwo even tried to bring the daughter of one of the cientist that created him (as explained that he loved ehr as a sister or something like that in a removed scene) by cloning her, adn Misty was supposed to raise her after Ash death.

  • 1:00

    M... MOTHER OF GOD

  • "Bullshit!"

  • There is a reason I don't watch the anime. This just explained why.

I will admit I still play the games, however.

  • Actually to be honest pokemon does not have any sense at all.

I was mostly raised on marvel comics super heroes and I'm very proud of that.Nice patriotism from Cap America, cool ideas from Iron Man, great jekyll and mr hyde story in a shape of incredible Hulk and of course great lessons from Spider-Man, not mentioning acceptation issuses between men vs mutants in x-men, and a bit of mythology in Thor.,,and so on.

What pokcket monsters gave us ? Just empty pockets.

  • The Pokemon Series and the Movies can suck my balls!!!

  • @maxtull21 You just were deprived of a childhood.

  • @Dattebayo04 What's that supposed to mean?

  • @maxtull21 Even if you are all grown, pokemon hold a special place in your heart. Besides, the movie was only hypocritical because the americans had to change the plot. The japanese version had a more graphic and cruel storyline for American children. Japanese kids are more mature than American kids. In the jap version, the moral of the story and motives of the characters were much different. Besides, pokemon always had a plot. Catch as many pokemon as u can, train them and compete wit the best

  • @Dattebayo04 Shut the fuck up, I hate it because it't to childish and it is also very hypocritical!!!

  • @maxtull21 It's not hypocritical, not the original version. Besides you ass, in this version, they never said that battling as a sport was wrong. They were talking about simply trying to kill eachother. Mewtwo blocked away their special powers, so they were basically fist fighting to the death. Pokemon isn't bullshit, you just can't have fun. It's your fault. And there's always going to be more pokemon, because it's one of the top selling game series.

  • @Dattebayo04

so fighting type pokemon are murderers huh?

  • @waldoman7 No, it's like a martial arts spar. Pokemon battling is a sport.

  • @Dattebayo04

well you claim that these battles stopped being a sport and became sensless violence when all they're explosive magical abilities were blocked, effectively rendering them all fighting/normal types. So by that logic, fighting/normal battles should be banned.

Also it was definitely a pretty harsh sport in the original games, and certainly used for combat on occasion. Surge used pokemon in war. Team rocket uses them for crime.

  • @waldoman7 For one, they're not magic and it would be best if you stop trying to simplify it. It's just a show based off a video game. In the Japanese version, the moral wasn't even about the fact that fighting was wrong. The Americans have their own version of the movie because the original version was too mature for American children.

  • @Dattebayo04

don't simplify it. keep it complicated so that we might get the wrong idea about things.

...yeah no thanks. it's a simple and clear case of utter nonsense, and yes it's clear that it's largely American brand nonsense. were it japanese they'd be babbling about friendship.

  • @waldoman7 It's not like that, but I don't feel like explaining it. You research yourself.

  • @Dattebayo04

I agree with your comment. However, I have to be honest, I never really liked the movies or the shows. The first movie is good, but after that...meh. And the video games, while all of them are good, I feel that lately they're getting a little stale. Some series like zelda or mario have evolved quite a bit over the years, but pokemon has kept to the exact same formula. They really need to add something new to the games, or it will eventually die off.

  • @Dattebayo04

So basicly what you are trying to say is, fighting with powers is ok while fist fight is not?

Quite agreeable... fist fight is boring man ... we wants to see pokemon get electrocuted, burned alive and get crush by giant rocks... more pain!!

100% agree with Nostalgia Critic, the dumbass pokemon creators wanted to teach kids moral value on the negativity of violence and fighting.. but the whole series is made of violence and fighting.

  • @holypredator For the last freaking time, the creators didn't try and teach kids the moral of non-violence. The Japanese made this movie, and their plot of the movie were seen to be too graphic for American children. Japan has a different metric system, The American company 4kids change the script entirely in the American dub. Now pokemon is a series based on a game. It doesn't need to be that complicated, sheesh! Only the kids understand why they love it. Adults can't. That's fine

  • @Dattebayo04

Relax bro.... i grew up with pokemon ...

I used to loved playing the pokemon games .. Red/Blue and Yellow version... Ive spend too much money on the trading card games which i regreted now... and i would watch the series every week on TV...

Pokemon was awesome back then... yet.. i never liked the movie... i was 11 years old back then and i think it's gay and cheesy as hell..

    personal opinion though

  • @holypredator Yeah, pokemon was a big part if my mid childhood.

  • @Dattebayo04 actually they say that the 5th generation(black and white) will be the last generation and after thats over there will be no more pokemon *tear*

  • Comment removed

  • @TheEastunder Who says that?

  • @TheEastunder various websites but i read it about the time when pokemon black and white came out i could be wrong and i hope i am since how great black and white were but it would make sense since it's gone on for over 15 years and the latest pokemon designs haven't been that great(a living trashbag)

  • ok im about to rage. here we go

first off i respect NC but i will call him out here. pokemon DOES make sense. the movie was made for the fans. even if you never seen pokemon everyone knew the basics. shit even my parents knew and they couldnt even prenounce pokemon. this movie and pokemon 2000 were great. yes i see now that it was ironic tht pokemon taught you fighting was bad but still. as for the tears thing it was cliche but when your 10 you dont give a shit.

  • @runeboyz7 I've used to love Pokemon when I was a kid, but now that I'm grown up I find it very annoying and stupid because there is no plot and the series went way downhill and Nostalgia Critic's right Pokemon the First Movie is being hypocritical because it's a show that shows pokemon fighting and now it tells them that fighting is bad, BULLSHIT!!!!

  • @runeboyz7

This movie is bad ass. It's also corny and hypocritical to a painful degree. That we enjoyed it does not remove it's flaws. tears bringing people back to life is so absurd and cleche that even at 10 you had to really roll your eyes at how bad it was, but you watched it anyway because dammit that's friggin Mewtwo.

  • Fuuuuuck there's a life lesson in a children's movie that must be the first time (sarcastic ...... It's obvious no ones that retarded )

  • hahaha this guy who's like 30 is still getting angry about Pokemon!!!

  • @jamierosser Correction. He was 28 when he reviewed this movie...that he didn't even WANT to review in the first place.

  • I just saw him do The Cell, And i got a headache, I felt confused, And my stomach hurt, Like his ending to that, And the film itself, Made NO sense! And now i feel sick!

  • Nostalgia Critic has a point that in the movie they say fighting is wrong, but they always fight in the series that's very hypocritical!!!

  • @maxtull21 And that's what you get when half assly squeezing in a "lesson" into a show made only for entertainment.

  • @AnnoyanceHazard I don't get it.

  • I actually never allowed Pokemon. I'm still not today even though I passed that stage.

  • xD 2:40

  • 1:20 should have a random cut to pancakes and it still would be epic sad.

  • for some reson, i had this episode on my backup account but it got claimed by copyright.

  • @TGamer43 u sure?

  • Battlefield 3... Just sayin...

  • I wonder what he would say if he watched the Japanese version... just wondering, don't kill me!

  • I loved this movie as a child, and after this review (which made me laugh so hard) I still love it, because now I can laugh at all things NC pointed out and still feel nostalgic.

  • sombody kill these kids before the 16 movie

  • sombody kill these kid before the 16 movie

  • wait........don't pokemon actually battle like this?!?

  • @pokemonvet1331 yes but less brutal.

  • Digimon movie was A LOT better. Fact. Even widely praised by various anime directors because of the anima
