@PAtch3s1024 Ummm...no, clearly you are no chemist. Its just flash powder in those things. Fulminated mercury is so sensitive that if you shot the gun (or even dropped the gun) all of the shots on the ring would go off detonating, blowing up your gun and your hand. not to mention the mercury gas that is given off, and the fact its illegal to posses. If you bought a 12 pack of them containing mercury fulminate youd have a pretty decent bomb. Goddamn.

@sPaWnSMASH1337 You are highly overestimating the shock sensitivity of fulminated mercury... It is not nearly as hard to make as people suggest and it is not nearly as sensitive as most think. Also the amount of mercury fulminate it would require to make a bomb would be substantial, on the order of a few kilograms. The amount of compound in those caps is minuscule, i.e. less than half of a gram probably even less than that.

And anything can be dangerous without experience in its use.

Perhaps I was overstepping it when I said if you drop the gun, but firing the gun would have a very good chance of setting all the rounds off. Just tapping the stuff with a hammer will do. Yes, it would take a sufficient amount to make a legitimate bomb, but it takes just a few grams to blow off your fingers or entire hand. When I said "sufficient bomb" I was talking about something you could do in your backyard.

Nitric acid can be produced from a nitrate salt and Sulfuric acid (found in high concentration in stump remover and drain cleaner). Ethanol can be purchased by any person over 21 or it may be produced by basic distillation.

If you had an actual, proper, chemical set up to produce nitric acid with chemicals that you didnt buy from home depot then you'd be right. Yeah, YOU'D produce a low concentrated, highly un-pure nitric acid (from caking agents in stump remover) with what YOU were planning to do, which would make your mercury fulminate much more sensitive to heat and friction. But go ahead and try!
