  • I just recently expressed how degrading and misleading a similar video of Laos but I think we all have lost the true beauty of this video. While we bicker over one another's comments we forget that these young kids ventured out to see and experience the world first hand trying to do something noble. More noble than any one of you posting from the comfort of your couch. So drop your religious, political, finger-pointing nature and live a bit of humanity through these kids.

  • Blame their corupt communist government. I thought communism was based on equality? It clearly shows that the wealth wasn't spread to these people.

  • FukTheKwaltz, You are in desperate need of a reality check. God Forbid that you will one day have to live like that. You are one evil, devilish, ignorant heartless bastard. You obviously have no shame in the comment that you posted. If anyone will burn in hell, it will be you. I usually don't wish bad things on people, but God is watching you and you will be in for a very rude awakening.

  • Where is their government? Where is their parents? We have our own problems here, don' t make it seem like it's our fault. They want food and a decent standard of living, then they had better throw away their guns and get a handle on their greed.(ie: government greed, elite greed). They've been around just as long as the rest of us! One more item: if everyone had all they needed, we would all be in the same fix in short order. Overpopulation MUST STOP NOW!

  • thats disgusting... people like you make me doubt the reality of God... how can he make people (prime example, you) so wrong.

you have no sense of human decency

  • I honestly pray to God you burn in Hell. You should spend everyday hoping that nobody says similar things to you if the day every comes [God Forbid] that you go through what these people face every day. I have never, ever come across such a disgusting, vile comment. I can hand on heart say you are the biggest piece of scum i have ever had the misfortune to write a comment like this too. Please, rot.

  • since your face is so close to a dogs ass, why dont you eat pieces of shit, you F*** moo foo ... like see you starve ass wipe.

  • You are a heartless human being. It is clear that you need God in your life and you need to shut your mouth and keep the ignorant comments to yourself.

  • My organization Center for Community Work does its share to help distressed children through its education and nutrition projects in the Philippines. Thank you for supporting it.

  • Can you please let me know where this village is at, what city and town?

  • This seems far fetched, notice this is the only video on poverty in Laos.

If this video is true, than the only people to blame that caused this mess is the "peoples republic of China"(assholes).

Why doesn't U.S. or japan, help change the government. They should form an anti-communist country again.

Sure we could help through 40 hour famine, but that would just make this country look like losers.

  • I live in America, and I really want to join this cause very badly. I want to spread awareness to everybody I know. Should I make a video? look on the 40 hour famine website? please help, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • Please, i encourage everyone to donate. You can go to 40 hour famine dot com and donate or donate into someone's account whos doing the famine. You can use others such as your friends or mine (which is)670962901 it would be great for your support.

  • Wow that is so sad! I'm doing the famine this year. To donate, go to the 40 hour famine website and donate to 27034147-2

  • good on you girls...MAke Poverty history

  • Very moving video, congratulations on your efforts in Laos, I visited Laos as part of an Interplast program in March and your images mirrored everything I saw and felt, are any of the youth ambasadors from the Laos trip available to give a talk to rotary in melbourne? please reply here with any contact details... again well done

  • Hi there. My name is Georgia and I am the Youth Ambassador for South Australia. The Youth Ambassador for Victoria is Meg Howe and you can book her for a speaking engagement through World Vision Victoria. She is a fantastic speaker who will give a simply incredible account of what it was truly like in Laos. Good luck with everything. :)

  • Thanks for the reply I will get in touch with world Vision Victoria, good luck with your Ambassadorial work

    regards Lutz

  • Keep up the good work WVST. :)

  • I am now in USA so many food wasted cause i not even hungry or can't finish before it expired date it different time when i was little girl in Laos...i almost donated but the website 2 complicated...

  • i dont think these kids actually know what poverty is. they look pretty healthy to me. it looks like they are only doing this for volunteer work so they can get into college. just because theyve seen poor ppl doesnt mean they know what its like to be poor. im pretty sure they havent experienced the same thing the blind women and children have felt. if these kids truly cared they should just adopt these kids and give them food, not just talk and talk and talk

  • I am one of the World Vision Youth Ambassadors, with the headband on. We will never know what poverty is like but we can try and spread the message that 30,000 children die, EVERY SINGLE DAY! Our aim is to inspire people into action, to help children that go to bed every night of their lives with an empty stomach.

PS I am already at uni and I am ambassador because I give a damn about the world. If you can do a better job, go ahead and do something.

  • As much as I like this video and appreciate the work that world vision does, I would suggest that anyone wanting to contribute to the fight against extreme poverty think carefully about which aid organisations they contribute to. While world vision does good work they fail on two fronts....

  • ...First their sponsor a child program seems to be inefficient when compared with the community based programs that other organisations pursue. Second they are a Christian based aid organisation and Christian aid has been known to compromise their aid because of ideology. The distribution of contraception to aids infected areas is a case in point. In my view Oxfam is a much better alternative and one of the best aid organisations in the world.

  • Stop OVERPOPULATION, and we'll be just fine in no time thankyou. If you can't afford 'em don't have 'em!

  • Overpopulation? Laos is about the size of Utah and only 6.5 million people, I'd say it's underpopulated. During Vietnam war, the US dropped 3 million ton of bombs in eastern part of the country and the unexploded munitions liter half of the country. Why don't you tell your goverment clean up it's own act, and clear up these bombs so that the people can go out and farm their land.

  • thank you for this video and showing ppl around the world the daily struggle that the Lao ppl have. THANK YOU!

  • nearly 900 viewings and only 2 comments so far? That's pathetic. How about trading the 20 minutes a day you spend keeping up with Paris Hilton's life and doing something to enhance the quality of someone else's life. UnPlug the iPod, plug into life.

  • where can you get this DVD? and there was another one contrasting a teenager's life in Australia to life in Laos, they showed them at my school but i havent been able to find out where they got them and i want them for my youth group? anyone?...

  • Tandaleah, go into view all videos by "worldvisionstir" there should be one called "teenage afluenza is growing fast"

  • ooh ok thanks heaps

  • or you can sign up for the 40 hour famine, the DVD with all the videos are included in the group leaders pack.

  • I went to the GLC. It was so inspiring, and I'm so motivated now to get my mates together and get the generation together to combat poverty. KEEP THE GOOD WORK GUYS!!!!
