I bought most of mine off of ebay. There was a nice Pickett 803es that just need a new screw and some adjusting and cleaning that I bought for under ten dollars and that's the one I usually use. The most I've spent was on my Faber Castell 283N which I bought for $170.
Use a giant classroom slide ruler like in the one in the You Tube video, "How to maintain classroom discipline"
