  • on the jimmy neutron special where they were on a game show, it's a bit ironic now, knowing that i think they might've picked him to answer the last question, because he was the champ on sale. how cool! hugh won the freakin' lot!

  • that sale of the century was a stunning upset

  • Still enjoy watching this one play out. Thanks for continuing to host it.

  • I remember this episode very well! Very intense too!

  • Def one of the most exciting moments in GS history...amazing how close Mark came to losing his 8 prizes and $13K in cash, only to end up winning the $50K after all!

  • Does anyone have Mark DeCarlo's first appearence?

  • The ticking of the clock sounds like it was from Pyramid.

  • @GarfieldnPyramid It was. It's the same sound effect...

  • Lois and Clark was a television show about Superman. LEWIS and Clark were the explorers. A "Lois and Clark" response would have lost the game. It's all in the details.

  • One of the greatest game shows of all time!I loved this show. GSN definitely needs to add this show to their line-up. Jim Perry was great on this show. That's what a game show host should be.

  • What a win!!! I saw that moment as a clip in a GSN special several weeks back.

  • During a documentary, right? If so, I've seen it as well.

And look at Mark at 3:09 !

  • Should've said 3:08 .

  • 3:13 - REACHIN IN THE AIR!

  • yes, and the same with SCRABBLE GSN will never get it.

  • It can happen one day. Those shows will be aired on GSN within several months. Just be patient.

  • I'm kinda glad Deborah lost, she was kind of a witch. lol.

  • No but it hands down is the most exciting.

  • Was this the first $50K victory on $ale?

  • Yes it was!!!

  • The whole thing is of him "risking it all"- the rule was if you came back to play one final day after clearing everything off the board, you lost everything you cleared off the board if you lost the game. A win netted you $50,000.

  • Nobody ever got the "lost everything".

  • But anything in Fame Game, Instant Bargain, Sale Surprise--that was kept irrespective of whether you win the lot or not.

  • where does he "risk it all?"

  • I remember this show very well, but forgot how awesome of a job Jim Perry did on this show. He reminds me of a real-life equivalent of Guy Smiley from Sesame Street.

  • Guy Smiley was based on Jim Perry.

  • That was the first time I've seen someone win the lot! That was amazing! And to top it off, that was one of the best speed rounds I've ever seen on SOTC! Incredible!

  • I watched all 5 parts. I feel like a geek saying this but I have to admit that was really cool.

  • i think of all the vids of sale of the century that i have seen on youtube Mark DeCarlo was and still is my favorite retired champion.

  • Outstanding clip and thanks for sharing it. High drama added by Jim Perry's terrific game-show hosting skill.

  • Yeah Jim Perry is a champ in that role.

  • i knew deborah shouldn't have taken that bargain.......

  • Maybe there should be a new channel called CGN (Classic Games Network), all classics, all the time and best of all, no credit crunch!! Bring CGN and Make GSN a part of ancient history!!!

  • FOrget GSN as they have gone down the toilet. If we ever want to see good shows like this, Scrabble, Concentration, etc. we must get a new cable channel that does what GSN did 10 years ago. GSN simply is not interested in classic shows anymore. Anyway, excellent series of clips containing a whole show and thanks so much for posting them. Brings back alot of memories.

  • That brings back memories. I remember the sound effects and jackpot music and the crowds. It reminds of "The Price Is Right" where either a contestant won both showcases or a win like "Punchboard" and "Grand Game" where they used the bells and air horns to hear a contestant won for example $10,000 except the big wheel where it lands on $1.00 in a two-spin combo.

  • This game show was truly the best. Yes, everyone got behind mark, even Jim Perry wanted Mark to win too. There's been many other great wins on this series, but this one tops almost every other one.

  • I also feel and believe that GSN need to put "$ale Of The Century" back on the air. This is one of the greatest (Reg Grundy Production) game shows ever fot it not to be shown on air. I wish that YouTube more "$ale" episode.

  • I also hope to one day see like the 1988 episode of $OTC

  • Big thumbs up for uploading this one. That's what we call game show drama, and people really got behind Mark. It helped in his career; now my kids know him as Jimmy Neutron's dad!

  • I know him, personally! lol!! He loves it now that people recognize him! I'll be sure to tell him of your kids and i'm sure he'll be delighted!! He's the best guy! -LC

  • it's a good show...i wish GSN put it back on

  • This is why GSN MUST put "$ale of the Century" back on the air. If you have another episode like this, i'd love to see it.
