@captaincook71 Yes, the jube, or as we know it, the Rood Screen is still there in this cathedral. In this building, it contains the organ also. There are photos of the interior available to view online, you just have to search for them. Type in Lincoln Cathedral and select the images tab.
@captaincook71 The Norman romansque style Durham cathedral is one of the finest examples of Norman architecture in the world, it was the first cathedral built with a stone roof, and unlike all the other cathedral's in England it's got nearly all it's original Norman features and it's setting in a loop on the river wear makes it absolutely magnificent.
@claptonbrucebaker Yes, that right that I forgot Durham's one, which is certainly the most beautiful, you're right. It's situated in a wonderful park and I love it's gothic choir. It's also so huge !
@captaincook71 That's right, but all the cathedrals are absolutely architectural masterpieces, and some of the finest buildings ever constructed by mankind. The people who designed, and built them had extraordinary talents.
@claptonbrucebaker Yes, old gothic cathedrals or almost are wonderful (we can't say it for the new ones, as Clifton Cathedral in Bristol or things like that). England has wonderful cathedrals. The lone problem of our French cathedrals is that we've only two towers, and not three (or just in Normandy), as you have, in the middle of the transept. And the England's problem is that many little churches around cathedrals aren't used anymore for religious services, just as in Norwich, for example. :)
I loved this Cathedral. The architecture was magnificent and I was left speechless. I was not there to hear the bells ring. Thank you for posting this lovely music.
Well, I dont live directly near the cathedral so when I hear the ringing, its a good but short distance away. Lets just say its a nice way to start a morning :-)
One of the worlds most beautiful cathedrals

@simonbellringer... Thank you! Do I assume, from your username, that you are a ringer?

@pusserhill Yes, I am a ringer in Swindon, Wilts. I rang the bells here about 2 years ago, loved them to bits!!!

Nicely taken, both the cathedral and the bells here are gorgeous!! :)

This cathedral is definitely the best of all the United Kingdom. A love these three towers. And it has wonderful bells.

@pusserhill Just a question, in many English cathedrals, there is still the jube between the nave and the choir, is it the case here?
Actually it's typically English, in all our French churches destroyed that barrier.

@pusserhill Ok thank's for the good translation. It's strange, it cutes the nave by the middle and nobody can see the office?
it's as the last Royal Wedding, we saw it on the TV but whom who where in Westminster's nave saw it?

@claptonbrucebaker I personally think the two west towers of Durham Cathedral look ugly

@captaincook71 That's very true about the church's in England, the Normans were master builders, unique architecture.

Wonderful Royal.
Wish it were 10 minutes, not just 54 seconds.
The audio seems to sound as though recorded inside and not outdoors.
Trebells are a little difficult to hear.

Is that a good thing, or a bad thing? Sometimes the stuff we hear gets on our nerves if we hear it too much. :-)

I must admit that this is most beautiful to listen to even though I am not an expert in the field of «change ringing».
clochebell 3 years ago
It's a strange taste, but I Love English change ringing, and would happily buy a CD of Cathedral bells doing a Peal ....
StarTrekLivz 3 years ago 3
"Saydisc" have a CD of change ringing, including Little Bob Maximus from St Mary Redcliffe, Bristol - out of this world!
NiallMS 2 years ago
@NiallMS I've got that CD! It's call "Church Bells of England" but about 75% of it is London bells :-/
