One of the greatest players of his era. Its a damned shame that the Mariners didn't go out and get a closer back in the mid-90s. Had they done that, and with all the talent the Mariners had, their story would have been completely different.
Griffey should have retired with a couple of WS rings. Sadly, that never happened.
WTF! Ok, fine. I've searched for twenty minutes to find Jr's highlights over his career...I guess he didn't take any drugs or because he wasn't from the weak coast to warrant any coverage. Ok. I'll put something together, copyright be damned. Greatest batter/fielder since Mays, or better...much.
Cunt, it's not about whether we won or lost. It was about the spirit that Griffey brought.
The Mariners were in a slack before Griffey came in Seattle. Once Griffey, A-Rod, Randy, Edgar, and Buhner were playing under the same roof, they started playing to sellout crowds. I remember the kingdome.. there was never a seat empty.
Safeco Field is known as "The house that Griffey built" in honor of him. We all love Griffey and love him with unmeasurable gratitude.
YES!! Super stoked about Griffey coming back! 1995 son.. Best year for the M's! I remember when he had that wrist injury. My mom was actually his nurse when that happened. Now..only if we can have Randy Johnson, Edgar and Tino Martinez, Jay Buhner, Dan Wilson, Joey Cora back on the roster (only wishful thinking obviously)..HOLY HELL!! lol. Welcome home Griffey!!!!
your darn right we will take him back. in seattle he is more than just a baseball player. he is an icon. he is one of the greatest players of all time, and he is going into the hall of fame as a mariner. the city, fans, and organization would be proud to see him in a mariners uniform once again.
are you serious? really? Haha wow! learn your baseball stats son!
Maybe in cincy he did nothing, but in seattle, he has done the opposite of jack shit! He has helped this orginization, mentally, and physically! I don't know what your talking about!
fuck you dick head......dont come in here hating on jnr, piss off!! he's our kid, rolling back the good times 4 us mariner fan!!! name a better hitter in the last 20-50 years thats better than griffey, and steroid users dont count!!! DICK
u said hitter so here we go ill name a few, joe morgan, george foster, pete rose, tony perez, I dont hate jr, i jist think it was a bad move for the reds to pick him up, there was so much hype but no delivery, it also got to a point in cincy where he got lazy as all hell, back in the day with the mariners he wqas fantastic to watch but then injurys and age took its toll
OH heck yeah .... when he was here in Seattle that sweet swing is still there ... his injuries have absolutely affected his home runs he's without a doubt one of the best power hitters in the game he's just been hurt so much ...
Home, sweet home. Griffey was the reason I loved baseball. His retirement is why I no longer love it. Still enjoy it but I loved watching him play.

it's really too bad that he's been hurt so much over the last 7-8 years...otherwise he might have the home run record...

One of the best HITTERS in the game period.

Have you forgotten he won 10 consecutive gold gloves? 1990-1999
Hes also one of the greatest center fielders of all-time. His catches and that great arm earned it.
