I guess you meant "freaking love this machine, well done" ;-) no export function but it makes no sense cause all tuning settings and sequencer are a big part of its sound magic, cheers
@isham16 - yeah thats what i meant. lol. I am just trying to get RAQ Samples so i can use them in a software sampler.. Does anyone have the proper RAW samples.. I seen some downloads, but not sure if its authentic ..
I think you're pretty lucky to own one of these in top condition with the looks of it from the video. I have a KORG ES-1 mk2 sampler. filled it with genuine recorded linn samples, love it. of course no-where as good as the real thing but it's the second best for me. great video and drum programming :)
Now it has even a midi JLC cooper interface, great stuff indeed and I'm even more lucky to have a mint lm-1 (looks like new in the box ....) and this thing is very fat (literally and sonically)
@Telekon5 5 months later... that's not a snare, that's a pitched down rim shot. Prince used this Linn version on a few limited songs, not once on the album 1999 is a hint. Prince used this for Erotic City, a few Sheila E songs like 'Too Sexy', Love Bizzare, Paradise Gadens and the wood-like clap for "Dream Factory" which he combined with live drumming. I can go on but Prince produced this very tastefully vs. Jesse Johnson's more obvious stock sounding usage of the LM-2 in his solo albums.
@nzSkitzo I feel your pain about wanting a LinnDrum. I've been wanting one ever since I discovered it last year. For digital drum samples from that era, I think they sound great.
@experiment0003: Do you think it would be at all possible to tell a fellow synthisist where you got those. Or maybe send me some samples? I'd love to hear them. Even just one kick drum would be nice
I love the sounds of the Linndrum. I downloaded a free VST emulator called JM-1 or something like that...it's pretty darn good - I especially enjoy that snare sound - but it doesn't have any tuning capabilities. Does anyone know a good (free) VST of the Linndrum that has tuning functions?
I'm praying for linndrum II for 2 years now ;-) well samples don't do justice to linndrums (lm-1 or linndrum), don't found a real explanation when using samples I miss something (certainly because of the sequencer which is part of its sound). thanks for coming here Digital !

bro... although nothing compares to the punchy analogy warmthy sound of these classic machines... I have in .wav samples every classic drum machine ever made:
Korg KPR-77, Linn_Drum, Boss DR-55, Odyssey, MFB 512, Roland TR-808, TR-909, TR-727, TR- 626, Simmons... just to name a FEW!!
And I have two versions of each samples... raw unprocessed and processed (through Neve console with Fairchild comp and Pultec eQ).
because it's an alternative to carrying one of these around... it's inefficient... too bulky... unnecessary because when you make a beat, it'll still be ran through a console/DAW anyways... so the sound degradation will take place regardless...
so having all those .wav files, you can make the same drum pattern effectively without an average listener being able to tell the difference.
Best demo and sound Ive ever heard from any old school analog drum machine. Too bad 16year old hiphopsters are the only ones demoing the 808 and 909s.
depends the condition and if it has midi or not. For a good condition one with midi, between 500 to 800 $... sometimes you can find by chance a 200 $ one but often these one stayed in the garage for 20 years and need some work...
Sounds as though you could get the start of People are people by Depeche Mode with this, some of the Everything counts sounds in there too. Nice machine and was used on Dare, Human League.
hi Neil , happy to see you here, I saw your lm-1 on flickr ;-) I'm also a linndrum lover and I own all of the them (even the forat 9000). Make us some vid Neil !
thanks a lot, this machine is funky, the real prince machine is the lm-1 (hidden below with the Orange cover !) even he used on some tracks the lm-2. I will do a lm1 vs lm2 video one day ;-) All the best,
Selling this puppy (I have 2 of them and this one has been recently serviced), no scratchy pot or slider, new batteries inside. Great groove really...New manufacturers should do something : why 20 years old machine sound better than today ??? ;-) We don't care about 100000 features JUST SOUND !
I really hope the new Roger Linn drum machine is going to include the original samples of the LM1, LM2 and 9000 etc.

I've been told by Roger that the new LinnDrum II will contain samples of all legacy drum sounds. In other words....backward capability.
