I don't know what some of you are seeing, but my take is a complete opposite;
The choral chants sound almost like Sioux or Cherokee, I see the fog as the mists of time bringing back a noble and proud plains indian warrior from an earlier and more innocent time in this country's history. And this video captures the pride of a great and proud people. That's my 2 cents anyways. let the hate mail fly.
This is a seriously great song by Snow Patrol despite them having lots of other good ones, i like the words and at times it applies to my life right now.
Without the truth, there can be no real morality, justice, equality, success, freedom, love, security, peace, spirituality or even survival. Search "Truth Contest" in Google and click the 1st result, then open The Present and read what it says to learn the truth of life.
This song blighted my childhood & has left me with me with severe emotional damage. My parents were new agey types who loved Enigma & well every Sat night for the summer of '94 at around 11pm I'd hear this song through the wall from my parents room. Enigma wasn't the worst of it, you see my mothers groans as she received cunnilingus from father were entwined by the groaning vocals on this record. 'Return to innocence'?, this song destroyed my innocence! Thanks Mom, Thanks Dad, Thanks Enigma.
@harveyderf Reading that just broke my heart into a thousand shattered shards of fiberglass! I never knew the devastation that one could experience at the hands of Enigma. & at such a tender age! While I can't heal those wounds w prose, I can offer some tried & true advice. I never underwent your personal saga, bt I have found this song a powerful diuretic. That's right, when I'm feeling 'backed up', shall we say, I groan along w the Native American chants & expel all material & spiritual waste!
@jasonismyhomie I wish I could listen to this song & chant along in order to cleanse my self spiritually but just hearing it sends me into cold sweats, I shake, & I'm plagued with thoughts of my mother & father writhing on their white cotton sheets! The images never leave my mind, youtube poster. All I can see are those slightly rotund, sweaty & hairy bodies writhing. I feel physically sick right now. I need my meds. Thank you for reaching out to me though. I don't feel so alone anymore.
@harveyderf Sweet child o' mine, please take my hand as a spiritual guide. Those cold sweats are not the result of trauma. It is the Native American spirit imbibing your soul! I think this song is much akin to a sweat lodge where psychoactive plants are imbibed & men gather to sweat & bond! Are you male? If so, I am very much interested in initiating you into my men's group 'Sturdy Wings'. Together, we help one another overcome traumas past thru guided visual meditation & shared stimulation!
@jasonismyhomie You're just like my parents! You get your kicks listening to Enigma, smoking pot, chewing peyote, then engaging in group sex! You new age weirdos are all the same! It's always the sex, drugs & Enigma with you lot! What is wrong with you people!? Goddammit! I can't enjoy any sexual pleasure because when I reach climax, this groan of the native American entwined with my mothers splits thru my head. The pain is excruciating! God damn you new age freaks & the damage you've done!
@harveyderf Oh, no! What have I done! I want to help you, to heal you! I feel my men's group can achieve that. Listen, my parents raised me in the 60's, so I had to listen to their goddamn Donavan records while they engaged in hours upon hours of coitus. & WE LIVED IN A COMMUNAL TENT! That's right, I HAD NO WALL like you, you spoilt BRAT! Um, excuse me, I didn't mean that, it's just Mellow Yellow has the same effect on me. HAVE I TURNED INTO MY PARENTS? Christ! I should just go kill myself now!
This made me cry,in a good Spiritual release way.The neon paint on the white horse is Awesome and when the Indian raised his arms and pointed to the God ,who see's all , it's Phenomenally Justifying. I Loved it when He rode around showing the Strength and Beauty of his horse. Thank you for sharing this ♥
this song brings me back to when i was a small girl playin in the park with my big brother...in great falls with my family that i love so much<3 specially my daddy....my parents made me the women i am today and i am forever greatful for that!!
There is a kinship among indigenous peoples who used the bow and the lance, rode on horseback and followed their food supply...the Native Americas and the Sarmatians (the first Ukrainians)... the Steppes and the Prairies..we are brothers!
This song makes me sad and happy at the same time i don't know how to explain this feeling it brought me into a different world where there is no darkness hatred but peace.
@TheCrunchymango The proper spelling is LLEWELLYN But without caps looks like Llewellyn check em out they're all over youtube. One of my favorite songs is dream weavers, I've downloaded a few of they're albums they're very relaxing and peaceful. My favorite album is the celtic legend.
1996 Olympic theme song, this film's music, the voice of Taiwan's indigenous peoples, the first time I heard, I heard the tears, I am Taiwanese, I am proud of that voice.

Your correct in saying that RoadWarrior2006....but I see it as a beauty of showing and sharing in a circle (I'm sure they consecrate and bless the ring land prior to the ceremony). It's like saying...home is where the heart is... I LOVE HORSES...and THIS SONG...wow! TRULY....Magnificent!
i don't know if natives from all around the world are that pure... some sacrificed people so their crops grow, to be plenty of fish, the sun to appear on the sky and other crap... seriously now, nice song, but don't say natives are that innocent!
POWER, i would react this way 2, i want to get away, i want to run free, keep me from running you all over, i love you all, your more powerful than me, you need to heed wht i say, im just a man that needs comfort to see you all be happy.
To me this is the most beautiful expression of love. On the outside it's a woman controlling a horse. On the inside, to me, it's the beauty God intended, between a woman and a man. Apart we both have qualities. Together we have the beauty and power, and intellect to ....... TOTALLY ROCK!!!!
@TheLucky71ful if you shouldn't be afraid to be weak or strong then what should you be afraid of? Dumb ass, you're as dimwitted as this song and these idiots trying to sing.........
@101philosopha101, why are you calling me a dumb ass? I bet my IQ is higher than yours. Keep your negative comments to yourself. You are one of those people who I suspect are bitter with life in general. One more thing I would like to say to you - do not waste your time posting rubbish comments and insulting people.
@TheLucky71ful my IQ is 142, that's genius grade. I'm actually not cynical at all; quite content with the glass being half-full and all that. Having said that, what I said was harsh, I agree, but it was simply a frustration at the lack of depth I see in people.
I love the song but the video is really messed up. Making a horse run at a full gallop and then ripping up on the reins at the last minute to get it to stop. Native Americans are supposed to be free nothing worse then parading around the metaphorical idea of one trapped in a riding ring. Btw the horse didn't exactly enjoy the riding experience you can see it in its face at the end of video. * two thumbs way down*

@RoadWarrior2006 I totally agree. The horse didn't look like it enjoyed the riding experience either. Awesome song but what a way to illustrate the point... not.
This song is & always will be apart of my Life :)

Dear All,
I have some questions about psychology:
(1) Why do we love flying?
(2) Why do we relate freedom with flying?
(3) Why do we have a feeling that we are freely flying in the sky when listening to this song?
(4) Why does the genre of aboriginal music of "Native American" give us an impression of height and flying high?
(5) Will this song be more enjoyable if listened on an aeroplane at 38000 feets?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)

Innocence is something that can stay with you regardless of whatever wrongs you commit, so long as it feels essential to who you are as a person.
One with inner circumstance can see past the concept of Right and Wrong, as neither really exist.
They're only mindsets we've settled into because of our cultures, laws, society, et cetera.
Am I sounding Anarchist? You decide.

i don't know if natives from all around the world are that pure... some sacrificed people so their crops grow, to be plenty of fish, the sun to appear on the sky and other crap... seriously now, nice song, but don't say natives are that innocent!

@101philosopha101
Your IQ is 140 and yet you walk blindly into such an obvious trap.

Seeing the native american riding in a ring for an audience to me looks like seeing a tiger in a cage.

@RoadWarrior2006 I totally agree. The horse didn't look like it enjoyed the riding experience either. Awesome song but what a way to illustrate the point... not.
crymsonscorpionldy 1 year ago
@RoadWarrior2006 : I agree, But it also showes the beauty in the native american's.
rainny1976 1 year ago
@RoadWarrior2006 There are probably more tigers left than true full blooded native americans.

@RoadWarrior2006 I don't think the native american was forced into it with a whip.
