Nice effort, but b&w brings out its unworldliness so much better.
Now, who's for "monochromizing" all those non-b&w movies? I suggest we start with one of Cameron's, they're such a hideous mess of needless hues. Titanic might just work as a film noir.
Apparently, they did back in 1998...but in name only. Makes sense of course, because the original moves much too slowly and doesn't really 'scare' in the way hat 90's sensibilities felt (we are talking the decade in which movies like 'Scream' rose to 'horror' prominence).
Carinival is much, much more effective in B/W, but this is probably the least offensive movie colorization I have ever seen. Could have looked a lot worse.
I love this film in B&W! - but, think this colorized vrsn. looks & works very well in this case - the colors look really early '60's and kind of faded & muted - like a color film from then would look - suberb job!! -
Yeah I've bought several of Legend Film's colorized version of classic films including Carnival of Souls......I'm amazed how good they look.....Plus C of S is one of the spookiest movies ever!
It's a great B movie and it's a classic..the first time I saw it I was about 12 and it scared me to death,it was always telecast at 2am in the morning which made it even more creepy!.

I dont like to bash old bad horror movies but my god was this movie terrible now ill give it some credit it was 1. mildly eerie at some parts and 2. hilarious and stupid at some parts but other than that it was just plain bad XD it was so bad me and my girlfriend couldnt even watch the whole thing we went in the other room and had sex. A movie so bad it makes you want to have sex wow thats bad.
I agree. I'ts a milliion times better in it's original black and white. my mother showed me this movie when I was like 12 and it creeped the fuck out of me. When i got older I bought it and showed it to all my friends. The scen where she's playing the organ and spaces out is fucking disturbing. Smoke PCP and watch this shit
This is one of my favs of all time. Too bad about the color. The black and white makes it oh so more romantic. This inspired Night of the Living Dead, not sure about CarnEvil, though I loved that game when I was in highschool. I am gonna Google that.
also inspired many other films on the way of this, like Sixth sense or Jacob's Ladder, beside of many Lynch's first films, is such a great film (better on b/w)
CapitainBeefhartfanO - cool you are a fan of the Captain as well - good insight about this film influencing other films like David Lynch's - hadn't thought of that before - can totally see that!! especially 'Twin Peaks' -
I just bought this movie for 32 pesos wich is about 2.50 american dollars..haha and it is actually better than "THE OTHERS" and "THE SIXTH SENSE"..Sorry for my english.
Making this picture in the FIRST PLACE was just WRONG - it's one of those flics that had me wishing for some mould I could watch growing instead. The only reason to watch this is Mike Nelson's commentary track in Rifftrax style. And if the colour offends your eye - just turn it off. ;)
OMG I own this in Black and White but I have to see it in color.....I just have to experience it because when you see something in black and white you have a weird feeling that the people are black and white hahaha so i think seeing this after all this time would be weird for me
I finally caught up with this a couple weeks ago. It's really a GREAT little movie...very underrated IMHO. It seems to have been an influence on many modern horrors such as Jacob's Ladder and The Sixth Sense. Colorization destroys the bleak atmosphere of the B & W cinematogrophy. And what's up with that trailer? It practically gives away the wonderfull ending. Oh well...enough of my bitching. If you haven't seen the movie, catch it in it's B & W form. You'll be glad you did.
A colorized "Carnival of Souls"?? That's a little too weird. It was a noir horror film, and noir is usually black and white. Though many (most?) films at the time were still B&W due to the cost of color film, many took advantage of the B&W look, and don't work as well when colorized. COS in B&W was meant to impart a feeling of the dead, drained of color--the dead people in the film are in whiteface, with black eyes. I'm surprised they didn't make their skin green, just to "give them some color".
I love this film in whether it's in color or not...it matters not to me
I feel as though it loses none of its creepiness
Also I think it just pops of the screen in color, but apparently that's just my opinion

To colorize such a film is a unbounded cheek.Would someone colorize a charcoal drawing of Rembrandt? Today some directors use b/w again.

I'm sorry, but making this a colorized(tinted) film is just WRONG. It makes it look cheap. Black and White is the way it should be.

Candice is a beautiful woman.
She was asked to play "Dawn" in King Kong when it was made in 1976.
She refused, because she felt the female character was not a strong individual.
I think she would have done a great job.
