  • I love this film in whether it's in color or not...it matters not to me

I feel as though it loses none of its creepiness

Also I think it just pops of the screen in color, but apparently that's just my opinion

  • Just not as creepy in color

  • is this like the awful one produced by wes craven coz that was shit.

  • I've seen this in black and white about 30 times but now I'm interested to see what it is like in colour.

Oh and my favorite line in the film is "I DON'T WANNA BE ALONE!!"

  • it looks very dark in colour.

  • Woah, it's by far better in Black & White!!!

  • wow this is so scary! I always thought the man had a normal skintone (i only saw it in black and white) i never knew how pale/creepy looking he was!

  • If you are interested in a 3D conversion of Carnival of Souls, please go to my channel to see 3D samples as well as a link to my website.

  • This movie inspired CarnEvil

  • I don't like any black and white movie in color..How about if they did a color movie in black and white?

  • Nice effort, but b&w brings out its unworldliness so much better.

Now, who's for "monochromizing" all those non-b&w movies? I suggest we start with one of Cameron's, they're such a hideous mess of needless hues. Titanic might just work as a film noir.

  • Hollywood, do not remake this film. That's an order.

  • @xjames118

    @xjames118

Apparently, they did back in 1998...but in name only. Makes sense of course, because the original moves much too slowly and doesn't really 'scare' in the way hat 90's sensibilities felt (we are talking the decade in which movies like 'Scream' rose to 'horror' prominence).

  • better to watch PSYCHO.....

  • Had no idea that this film was also in color!

  • Must see the rifftrax

  • in color the makeup looks like makeup

  • Carinival is much, much more effective in B/W, but this is probably the least offensive movie colorization I have ever seen. Could have looked a lot worse.

  • They showed the freakin' ending!!!!

  • Holy shit! I did not know that this existed in color!

  • 1:06 remember the frist Alone in the dark?

  • "Carnival of Souls" is much better in

black and white! I don't like this movie in color!

  • i havent seen this movie in years i just watched it on fancast scary ass hell

  • first time I've seen it in colour I'm sorry B&W all the way !!

  • Comment removed

  • I love this film in B&W! - but, think this colorized vrsn. looks & works very well in this case - the colors look really early '60's and kind of faded & muted - like a color film from then would look - suberb job!! -

  • dammit the film is perfectly scary in black and white!

  • Yeah I've bought several of Legend Film's colorized version of classic films including Carnival of Souls......I'm amazed how good they look.....Plus C of S is one of the spookiest movies ever!

  • i own the b&w, but i'd def like to see color version, wonder if it's rent-able :D

  • This is a good DVD that Legend Films produced, it has Carnival of Souls in B&W or in color, & it has commentary by Mike Nelson of MST3K.

  • i never knew this was in color as well. Such a film classic.

  • them dancing is cool as hell

  • marilyn manson? 0:58 XD

  • It's a great B movie and it's a classic..the first time I saw it I was about 12 and it scared me to death,it was always telecast at 2am in the morning which made it even more creepy!.

  • Dammit... I can't afford to miss Carnival of Souls.

  • This movie is great, its as good as night of the living dead, didnt know u could get it in colour.

  • Is Diane still selling it downtown? Does she still charge $20 for head?

  • ultimately the b + w version is much better, but its a whole different experience watching it in colour, as is night of the living dead

  • jeez... they show the whole freaking movie as well as the ending!

  • I agree. I'ts a milliion times better in it's original black and white. my mother showed me this movie when I was like 12 and it creeped the fuck out of me. When i got older I bought it and showed it to all my friends. The scen where she's playing the organ and spaces out is fucking disturbing. Smoke PCP and watch this shit

  • don,t nobody need to smoke PCP to watch this shit u sound stupid

  • your right . I was real immature back when I posted that comment

  • This is one of my favs of all time. Too bad about the color. The black and white makes it oh so more romantic. This inspired Night of the Living Dead, not sure about CarnEvil, though I loved that game when I was in highschool. I am gonna Google that.

  • also inspired many other films on the way of this, like Sixth sense or Jacob's Ladder, beside of many Lynch's first films, is such a great film (better on b/w)

  • CapitainBeefhartfanO - cool you are a fan of the Captain as well - good insight about this film influencing other films like David Lynch's - hadn't thought of that before - can totally see that!! especially 'Twin Peaks' -

  • WTF with the colorization? How rude!

  • I watched this film - one time, one day. This film is what inspired the 1998 Midway shooting game "CarnEvil".

  • I just bought this movie for 32 pesos wich is about 2.50 american dollars..haha and it is actually better than "THE OTHERS" and "THE SIXTH SENSE"..Sorry for my english.

  • So much better in its original black and white. In colour it loses all its atmosphere

  • To colorize such a film is a unbounded cheek.Would someone colorize a charcoal drawing of Rembrandt? Today some directors use b/w again.

  • bleh colorazation

  • I'm sorry, but making this a colorized(tinted) film is just WRONG. It makes it look cheap. Black and White is the way it should be.

  • i really looks better on your tv i have the gila monster killer shrews boxset and it is some of the best colorazation there is

  • Making this picture in the FIRST PLACE was just WRONG - it's one of those flics that had me wishing for some mould I could watch growing instead. The only reason to watch this is Mike Nelson's commentary track in Rifftrax style. And if the colour offends your eye - just turn it off. ;)

  • okay this is a colorized version by ledgend films company so stop thinking it was tinted

or 1989 or it was always like that

  • this movie is better in b/w

  • OMG I own this in Black and White but I have to see it in color.....I just have to experience it because when you see something in black and white you have a weird feeling that the people are black and white hahaha so i think seeing this after all this time would be weird for me

  • oh ok, the film was re-released in 1989--thats probably when it was colorized

  • no, it wasn't colorized then. this is recent

  • someone must have tinted this trailer--as far as i know, it was only ever in b/w.

  • One of my favorite movies of all time. A classic masterpiece.

  • I finally caught up with this a couple weeks ago. It's really a GREAT little movie...very underrated IMHO. It seems to have been an influence on many modern horrors such as Jacob's Ladder and The Sixth Sense. Colorization destroys the bleak atmosphere of the B & W cinematogrophy. And what's up with that trailer? It practically gives away the wonderfull ending. Oh well...enough of my bitching. If you haven't seen the movie, catch it in it's B & W form. You'll be glad you did.

  • I'm glad the copy I have isn't in color.

  • do you know where you can get this? lol

  • I'm a fan of the film,a cd soundtrack was relased around 1999..I have it.

  • A colorized "Carnival of Souls"?? That's a little too weird. It was a noir horror film, and noir is usually black and white. Though many (most?) films at the time were still B&W due to the cost of color film, many took advantage of the B&W look, and don't work as well when colorized. COS in B&W was meant to impart a feeling of the dead, drained of color--the dead people in the film are in whiteface, with black eyes. I'm surprised they didn't make their skin green, just to "give them some color".

  • dang it looks awesome in Color!!

  • Candice is a beautiful woman.

She was asked to play "Dawn" in King Kong when it was made in 1976.

She refused, because she felt the female character was not a strong individual.

I think she would have done a great job.

  • WOW!!I never knew that!!

I love this movie as well as King Kong 76'

    Both soundtracks are superb!!!

    If your into movie soundtracks!!!

  • Yeah, Candace Hilligoss. What a woman.
