This setup sounds 20x better on the 350z..Dont believe me? compare 350z nismo exhaust videos to this one. Not tryin to knock u, but I just figured since the 370z was a all-around better Z than the last, that the nismo exhaust would sound better on it too, but to my surprise it sounds completely different..almost like night and day difference. 350Z trumps the 370Z on the nismo exhaust note and pitch.
honestly it doesnt sound good. not enough mean grunt. plus you can hear the engine and it doesnt sound like a mean engine. basically it doesnt sound as mean as it looks
All you faggets that don't own Nissans STFU! NISMO exhaust is not meant to sound loud. It's meant to amplify the stock sound to make it just a bit louder you dumb fucks. Louder exhaust doesn't mean more horsepower you. Nice 370z man.
Maybe I need to change the title, this is not a Nismo 370Z!! It's a 370z w Nismo Catback Exaust. that's how the title is worded. Anyway, IMO the sound is way too mild for my liking, it's not much over stock and I was disappointed. If you look at my other video with the Berk HFC's installed, it's made a big difference. I'm getting the Berk dual exhaust with X-pipe as soon as the production model is ready. They test fit a proto-type on my car last week and it sounds amazing!! :-)
Why an X-pipe? Don't they know a V6 does not need any crossover because it is an even firing engine? Only 90 deg. standard V8 engines need a crossover because of the unequal firing order. Flat plane crank V8's, inline engines and V6's do not need them. A straight dual 2.25"-2.5" system with 2 mufflers would be ideal for the 370Z. I'd lean more towards the 2.5" for a bit more room later on with more upgrades.
i thought all engines with two banks could use the x pipe to get the back pressure from the last firing to evacuate the next no matter what side it was on. So the x in the pipe lets the back pressure travel back to the other bank but i'm not sure where the firing order comes into play.
Nope, V8 engines with a crossplane crankshaft (most 90 degree V8 engines SBC 350, SBF 302 etc) have to have an unequal firing order in order to have the smooth idle and low end torque they are known to have. Singleplane crank engines (F430 engine) have an equal firing order, bank to bank, one side to the other back and forth. A 60 deg. V6 (most V6 engines are this) also have an equal firing order, left right left etc. so they do not need any type of crossover pipe in the exhaust. Look it up ;-)
so i looked up the unequal firing order and i was correct. It has to do with exahaust pulsation and stock v6 have cross over tubes too. The x-pipe is just a much smoother way to get it done. what it does is take the suction created from the last exaust wave and let it travel back to the other bank of cylinders because as you said it fires left, right, left. also there are alot of companies making x-pipes and again the stock is setup in this basic way but with a crossover tube. Thanks
A V6 engine has no need for any type of crossover tube. Since the engine fires equally, it scavenges best if the banks are kept separated from one another, where as a V8 needs to have a crossover because it will fire, left right right left right left left right etc. Where 2 pulses from one bank hit behind one another, it acts as one big pulse and the crossover lets this big pulse split into 2 sorta. Equal firing engines do not have this problem, therefore no need for any type of crossover.
I realize that i am not going to convince you here but i would like you to just look at the facts. like hp numbers posted by hks that makes an h pipe compared to their other systems. I think that a company like hks which has spent thousands of dollars on r&d knows what they are doing because they have proved it with results on the dyno. Stillen also makes the x-pipe for the v6 as does berk and borla makes their kit in the H pattern same cross over tube idea.
They put them in to help with sound tone and eliminate some rasp a bit. Did you check pipe diameters between the h-pipe/x-pipe setups to the true dual setups with no crossover?
@the370z I was just about to mention my dissapointment. I have a 350 with a nismo exhaust with just a y pipe and that is definatly more throaty. really surprised. I thought I was about to have my car made to look like a hair dryer lol
sounds good, how much did you get yours for? there is a dealership near where i live, they only have one and they'll never sell it because they're trying to mark it up over 10 k and sell for over 47 k loll
No I didn't, the Stillen wont be out til March 09, I didn't want to wait that long, plus I was concerned with keeping my factory warranty intact. I may look at other exhaust systems down the road, depending on what other mods I end up doing.
you should have waited for Stillen, their products dont void factory warranty. is the nismo a true dual exhaust or is it still a 2 into 1? and besides March is tomorrow, a month wait for a kick ass exhaust is not much wait is you ask me. But congrats on the car.
Its a full catback, and yes you are right, it's starting to get a little deeper. I will be adding the Berk Hi-Flow cats to it as well, so that is going to make a big diff.
The great thing about the sport package is you get the huge rotors and 4 piston calipers, plus a limited slip differential. Totally worth the $3K I was going to get a base with sport, but the didn't have that combo, had to spend the extra to get the Touring, but I'm totally happy with the purchase.
the exhaust will need to break in and it will be louder...but is it a full cat back or just muffler u have? my nismo on my z is awesome, especially with the berk high flows
Synchro rev-match system is only available with the Sports Package which gets you the forged 19" wheels as well. The body kit options are separate, but standard on the Touring model.
1st part of your post is correct. SychroRev Match comes with sports package. The front chin and rear spoiler is ALSO part of the sports package. If you buy a touring model without sports package, you won't see the wings or front chin.
that sucks I wanted sport package with out the wing I like the line (groove) on the hatch I know it could be taken off but I wouldn't really want o mess with the holes in the hatch :(
I'm going to be getting this car around april/may once it becomes not so rare and dealers trying to screw me. 2 questions, is it possible to get the body package (spoiler) and sync rev. without getting those forged rims?, I plan on getting rims as soon as I buy the car. Second, that exhaust doesn't sound that much different than stock, what do you think?
Lol rly sucky sound not worth a video.

So is this the Nismo exhaust that hikes the output up to 350 hp like in the 370Z Nismo?
Because that seems like the only part on the Nismo that actually enhances performance.

I heard that nissan also played around with ECU to get that number.

@TheNewMrCool ...the nismo 370z has better performance not for the exhaust but for the camshafts

do these things really do 0-60 in about 5secs?

well since its a nismo it should be alot faster. the regular z according to motortrend does 60 in 4.7 seconds.
dukviper90 3 years ago
Nismos aren't any faster than regular Z's. They handle better.
ambientflier 3 years ago
handling better= faster duhhh...

well the nismo's are also lighter so i think it would be slightly faster to 60.

where are u getting this from? Nismos are lighter than the grand touring models by 100 lbs and same weight as the base models.

Autoblog posted that the Nismo 370 weighs something like 75lbs more than a base model. I guess it might be even with a sport package one.
