The great Schism was such a tragedy. Orthodoxy and Catholicism are by far the most similar branches of Christianity. Its just silly for them not to be one church.

As Orthodox, we desire the return of the Roman Church to holy Orthodoxy and the restoration of union. But, at the same time, such a union would require many changes by the Church of Rome, and would require it to become Orthodox once again.

So when we speak of "union", please know and remember what we ask for and talk about. We do know want a false union without conditions, we desire a true union and true return of the Roman Church to the Holy Apostolic and Catholic Church.

Just as Christ never once expressed hatred or resentment to those who were cruel to Him, neither do I hold a grudge against our Catholic cousins. I was born and raised (and baptized) as Eastern Orthodox myself, and I believe that God loves all people in the same fashion that a doting Father with his children. We need only to ask forgiveness and be welcomed back.

but...against false union....the only way to unite is for those that have left the one true Holy Catholic and Apostolic church to RETURN! Orthodox brothers and sisters are waiting! An this has nothing to do with "love" for our family members that have married those of Catholic faith or any other faith - we hold the same true for all children of God.

Why can't we just reunite already? I go and am officially of the Catholic Church, but my beliefs are more Orthodox; that is, I hold the filioque as a theologoumenon, not a doctrine.

Please research what has happened to the native Christian population in the Holy Land the past century and turn what ever negative energy you have into positive research to help us protect our ancient Faith and homeland that has been destroyed by Western Christianity (Not Roman Catholic, referring to evangelicals.)

OUR creed clearly states.....

I believe in one Holy catholic (todays Orthodox Church) and Apostolic Church and in One baptism for the remmision of sins.

NOT in 2,3, 4 or many Churches esspecially the RCC and NOT in 2,3,4,5... baptisms from these different churches

@banostor Thanks for this comment. Ecumanism and the World council of Churches is the worst pan-heresy and threat to Orthodoxy since the days of Arianism. So, why is an "Orthodox" Patriarch hob knobbing with the Pappists? A display of a united Christian front to show the Muslim world? To make all the ecumanists feeeeel good? Maybe... Or maybe moving toward a one world religion to usher in the Anti-Christ. The WCC's as a staging area...

@ominoreg Yes, and NO he has not rejected all of the Roman/Franco/Latin influences on the Church. Frankly, I am a little disturbed by this video.

We should love our brothers. We should not allow the heterodox to "serve," vest, and especially not seat in the Bishop's throne during any orthodox service.

His Holiness Bartholomew, and various other bishops should think more about the schisms they has caused and worsened with the old believers/calendarists much more than their relationship with the Latin pope.

The Romans called the Orthodox Schismatics, now the NC Ecumanists call Traditional Orthodox Schismatics because we reject the New Calendar, and the softening of Holy tradition to attract more Heterodox converts = MORE MONEY and BIG EXPENSIVE CHURCHES. And that makes US the Schizmatics? No, logic would suggest those who change and compromise tradition and even Holy Feasts, are the ones in Schism.
