I too grew up with Reginald Dixon at the Tower. I went back on his last week of performing in 1970 when the ballroom was fully seated for his final concerts and it was a treat - the white grand piano (playing itself!), the Storm at Sea sequence and all those wonderful dance medleys. Both Dixon and Charlie Cairoli were a must for any visit to Blackpool. Wonderful memories. Think of the millions he must have entertained over those 40 years.
What a fantastic signature tune and what a fantastic entertainer.I spent many happy hours in the Tower Ballroom in the 1950's.I had the great pleasure to know REGINALD personally and he always found time to talk to me before and after his Sunday shows. He was a really genuine person and very nice to all his many fans.He was MR BLACKPOOL and no visit to Blackpool was complete wihout going to the Tower to listen and dance to this wonderful entertainer. There have been other organists but none close.
Thank you so much for posting this. So many memories... Brilliant...
