The new singer is fine; he's got a good voice... but there's nothing unique about it. I think anyone who listens to the rock/hard rock genre can agree these guys sound so similar to many, many other bands now. What made Evans Blue different was Kevin Matisyn's (original singer's) voice.

& He will be missed.

And not only did Kevin's voice separate them, but his songwriting capabilities too. That being said the band changed its style becoming heavyer when Dan came. The old evans blue sounded completely different which further separated them.

@DeathofOsiris I actually see Evans Blue having the same sound as Breaking Benjamin and not the other way around considering that Breaking Benjamin has been around longer with the same lead singer. Their sound and music has always been awesome and consistent. Evans Blue is mimickin' Breaking Benjamin and not the other way around.

@edgaramontoya Yes I know that Breaking Benjamin has been around for quite a bit longer, I was only giving an example of how the new Evans Blue is similar in sound to that more common style of music, rather than being totally unique as they were with Kevin. And I agree that the band now with Dan as the vocalist is taking cues from other artists that have already proven to be successful with that heavy sound.

They're a GROUP of people; they should be allowed to keep the band's name if they want, and just because one person leaves doesn't mean that they have to change the name. Sure, Kevin was the vocalist -- and that's what people focus on most -- but the drummer, guitarist, and bassist are just as important.

Just because the band's sound changed doesn't mean the new member automatically sucks -- Dan is a great singer, and Kevin is too. If people can accept the change and learn to appreciate the actual music, I doubt there would be ignorant comments all over. =/

Think of it this way: now there's more music to listen to. Kevin went to Parabelle, and Dan came to Evans Blue.

Actually, I think Erase my scars is a better then this. Maybe it's because I like heavier songs, that aren't just repeating a chorus. This song is good in other ways. such as how the song is constructed. Personally I think there could have been more actual lyrics. But I guess they're conforming to mainstream media format, and by that I mean 3:30 - 3:45min time length and repeat chorus multiple times as filler. Another example would be 3 days grace. I'm not knocking either band. Just stating.

All the songs on "The Melody and the Energetic Nature of Volume" and "The Pursuit Begins When This Portrayal of Life Ends" were written by Kevin Matisyn.
