I never played Cataclysm because the game was taking up too much of my time. I've played Vanilla to WoTLK and loved all the expansions.
Everyone's just remembering how magical their first experience with WoW was - i.e. Vanilla. Spending so much time in such a huge new world was such a magnificent thing. That first experience in the game made such a huge impression... no expansion pack could ever recreate it :(

another one... i was in Auberdine level 14... and i became a quest it calls somthing to gather some mushrooms in a cave! I saw there a Level 18 Gnome and I was like "holy shit! A level 18 enemy!" and i ran away! One day i go back to finish my quest and I became help from another nightelf, he was level 21 Warrior! It is so great I was happy to finish and defeat the gnome hahaha ^^ man i miss this feeling ! -.-
i remember when i rolled my dwarf hunter back in Vanilla. Me and a few friends traveled from Dun Morogh all the way to Hillsbrand Foothills in a raid group..avoiding lvl ?? npcs and scouting ahead. Man that was fun because i didn't know what i was getting into and neither did they. I want to go back to something like that, where you don't know what is going to happen and what lies ahead.
Vanilla WoW were the best times of my life. It was my childhood! It's the reason why i can sit back and think back of my memories. I always though that Old School WoW were like The Lord of The Rings. The music,the nature. The characters.
But now? What is World of Warcraft now? Crap if you ask me
Personally, I think expansions took the wonder out of this game. It's too easy now; mounts at level 20? God damn, I remember running through Desolace - Desolace as an Alliance, for fuck's sake - until I was level 40. When I got my mount, I cried with joy, because my character could finally quit working on his cardio.
But seriously, back when this came out, the best times were seeing something entirely new. No matter how much you -ran- around, it was always new and mysterious. Fuck flying.
@Xanirii i agree flying runned alot. sometimes i find myself on my mount running around the world XD... maybe i should get the exploration acheiv while im at it..
@Xanirii Couldn't have said it better my self. I quickly came to dislike flying when it was implented in TBC. Should have just sticked to regular mounts... which you get after working hard for 40 levels. Take a taxigryphon if you need to fly.
But now even the flying mounts are as good as obsolete, because you can just teleport from one end to the other through the dungeontools and portals. People just sit around in cities, get a group, teleport to dungeon, finish it, and teleport back.
@Fuzhark By adding the Dungeontools, Blizzard has destroyed a very big part of the social aspect of the game. I remember having to run for almost an hour as Alliance to get to Scarlet Monastary.. And then hope everyone is still in your group by the time you reach the summoning stone.
During that walk you could have a laugh or a good chat with your teammates. Now it's BOOM dungeon, dungeon out.

When I was level 10 druid, I traveled to Moonglade for the first time. I decided to explore the zone until I discovered a tunnel down south with furblogs with skull on their portraits.....
I wish Blizzard would watch the Guild, which I'm sure they do. But I love the sarcasm the 5th season is giving off, basically the players are fighting to save their game from merging with a company whose goal is to toddlerfy it and make it accessible to new and casual players by removing all difficulty and any reason to feel special in it. Gee, that just sounds awfully familiar. *Cough* Activision.
@Devmo1000 I'm sorry I have to say this, but your being nostalgic, anyone who thinks that the difficulty of vanilla exceeds the difficulty now and with the other expansions is wrong. Look at the end-game content in terms of tactical difficulty and practical difficulty, it is simply because now players are now streamlined when it comes to their characters. Elitist Jerks, ArenaJunkie and many other sites with theorycrafting, not to mention the amount of add-ons make players better.
To add to crediting this music, this song is an adaptation of music written in 2002 for the game Divine Divinity by Kirill Pokrovsky, particularly the vocal starting at 1.41 and the undercurrent leading to it. So very pretty.
Hey y'all-- I think most of you are being babies. Vanilla WoW is a nostalgia for you andyou played it when you were newbs, and everything seemed magical and new. OF COURSE you don't view capped levels as gods now, you're probably way up there in level too. I'm new to cata, and I love it. Orcs rule!
first quests in vanila wow ,starting zone as undead warlock ,thats somethin' ill never forget,then barens ,and enetering ashenvale ....(writing this and listening 1:43 ,i started to cry :( ) .....
the only thing i do not miss from vanila time is ,damn paladins ,if you know what i mean :).But i would gladly go back and fight endless battles (and loose ofc) against human palas and play vanila again.
If you want to play in vanilla just join "wow-one", however you need to grind 2-5h strathholmes runs, farm at AH to get decent gear. Still fun tho becuase the game sociality and its world pvp.
i miss being a noob, now i have 2300 pvp rating and full 378 gear, its just not the same as as leveling your first character, mine was an undead priest, i spent 3 days played time 1-20 and i didnt care i had the time of my life, now its just "meh" leveling alts, i miss being a noob

God, this brings me back to the very first day I played. A Nelf hunter, wandering aimlessly about the starting zone. Trying to figure out all of the mechanics and controls, chatting with random strangers, trying to tame wild animals because I thought thats how you got a mount and pet...lol. This song played in the background and consumed my soul. It really put me in another world...aaaaahhh good times. They will be missed. :)

for those of you that like wow simple. I know that nothing can be like old wow, but I do suggest playing a trial account and capping at 20. The 20 twink bracket is huge and with a 10 gold cap the gameplay is simple yet extremeley fun! And you dont have to pay!

The time when everybody played for the fun of it and everybody helped everyone and when the raid fails because of someone but you say to him what to do and encourage him by saying to him don't worry man easy we must have done ... whatever it is and the guy doesn't feel guilty ... and we go and we TRY again to beat that one boss not like now everybody is trying to get to very high level of gearscore it sucks ! when i was 26 lvl and i felt so great !

@mechkapechka ikr, i remember the first time i rolled into a major city, seeing the (at that time) few and far between level capped players was undescribable. those level 60s were like GODS to me. their gear looked amazing, their powers were unlike anything i'd seen, and the feeling of the cities themselves were unreal. seeing those buildings i'd built so many times in Warcraft III made me feel like i was really IN the world. the new expansions didn't give me that feeling. @Devmo1000 I'm sorry I have to say this, but your being nostalgic, anyone who thinks that the difficulty of vanilla exceeds the difficulty now and with the other expansions is wrong. Look at the end-game content in terms of tactical difficulty and practical difficulty, it is simply because now players are now streamlined when it comes to their characters. Elitist Jerks, ArenaJunkie and many other sites with theorycrafting, not to mention the amount of add-ons make players better.

first quests in vanila wow ,starting zone as undead warlock ,thats somethin' ill never forget,then barens ,and enetering ashenvale ....(writing this and listening 1:43 ,i started to cry :( ) .....
the only thing i do not miss from vanila time is ,damn paladins ,if you know what i mean :).But i would gladly go back and fight endless battles (and loose ofc) against human palas and play vanila again.

If you want to play in vanilla just join "wow-one", however you need to grind 2-5h strathholmes runs, farm at AH to get decent gear. Still fun tho becuase the game sociality and its world pvp.

i miss being a noob, now i have 2300 pvp rating and full 378 gear, its just not the same as as leveling your first character, mine was an undead priest, i spent 3 days played time 1-20 and i didnt care i had the time of my life, now its just "meh" leveling alts, i miss being a noob

God, this brings me back to the very first day I played. A Nelf hunter, wandering aimlessly about the starting zone. Trying to figure out all of the mechanics and controls, chatting with random strangers, trying to tame wild animals because I thought thats how you got a mount and pet...lol. This song played in the background and consumed my soul. It really put me in another world...aaaaahhh good times. They will be missed. :)

for those of you that like wow simple. I know that nothing can be like old wow, but I do suggest playing a trial account and capping at 20. The 20 twink bracket is huge and with a 10 gold cap the gameplay is simple yet extremeley fun! And you dont have to pay!

The time when everybody played for the fun of it and everybody helped everyone and when the raid fails because of someone but you say to him what to do and encourage him by saying to him don't worry man easy we must have done ... whatever it is and the guy doesn't feel guilty ... and we go and we TRY again to beat that one boss not like now everybody is trying to get to very high level of gearscore it sucks ! when i was 26 lvl and i felt so great !

@mechkapechka ikr, i remember the first time i rolled into a major city, seeing the (at that time) few and far between level capped players was undescribable. those level 60s were like GODS to me. their gear looked amazing, their powers were unlike anything i'd seen, and the feeling of the cities themselves were unreal. seeing those buildings i'd built so many times in Warcraft III made me feel like i was really IN the world. the new expansions didn't give me that feeling. Vanilla WOW <3
